This morning I checked out after spending the last 6 days here. Prior to that I was at the sister resort, now I've stayed at both and they are both very different. Bunga Raya was beautiful, truly where the rainforest meets the beach. And what a stunning beach it is. White sand, aqua marine water, perfect for swimming. The pool...

This was a great place to relax for a couple of days after spending time in the rain forest on the mainland. The place is clean and well kept and the gardens are well maintained. The young staff are friendly, polite and knowledgeable and the food, although a little expensive, is good. The pool and surroundings, and the beach are...

We enjoyed a very relaxing break at Bunga Raya - the location is simply stunning. The same cannot be said for the service and staff however, who, whilst always extremely polite, were sadly inept. There was no lack of endeavour, but it appeared that most were still being trained and there lacked any guidance on how to resolve issues. The...

It's like heaven on earth, a very lovely site, clean beach and pool, spacious rooms, very attentive service: a very good place to relax, for example after excursions into rain forest and Mount Kinabalu. Hornbills and 68 kinds of hibiscus you will see as well.

Bunga Raya is a fantastic resort. The only place I would consider staying near kota kinabalu. It's every bit as beautiful as the pictures on their website and then some. The staff is the friendliest staff of anywhere I have ever been, I can't say enough about how pleasant they were. PROS: Natural beauty Wildlife (macaque monkeys, wild boar, monitor...

We stayed in a beach villa. It was spacious, private and gave out to amazing views of the water and the bay- exactly what I had hoped for. It's an unusual experience to turn right onto the beach and left into the rainforest jungle- nature really in all its splendor. We had everything we needed, they provided mosquito repellent (didn't...

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon and it was amazing! Transfer from the jetty was efficient and the staff very welcoming. We were given a refreshing welcome drink and a quick tour of the resort before being shown to our room. The room was huge and had a great view through the trees down to...

This was booked for us by our travel agent and, when we arrived, we couldn't believe how lucky we were. A beautifully designed, carefully thought-out little slice of luxury. It is opulent in a low key way. No ostentation but a lot of thought gone in to meeting (all) customer needs. Sincerely amongst THE most comfortable hotel bed we've ever...

If you hesitate between Gayana resort or Bunga Raya; don't! Choose Bunga Raya: beautiful, very peaceful, great sea view and still a short boat ride away from Kota Kinabalu. The room (2 bedroom villa) we had, was in front of the pool with awesome view. Clean spotless! We had a mishap with the food (we were sick of a bolognese...
