They literally had nothing on the menu (and we arrived early not at the end of the day). We tried to order 5 things and all of it was “not available” Everything we tried to order they said they didn’t have and they didn’t seem to care at all. Especially after driving a long way to get here. View was good and the one thing we could have was nice. Heard good things from other people but personally had a poor experience. Very disappointed when it is so highly recommended.

Thank you for your honest feedback and we're disappointed as well about your experience with us Semana Santa is one of the busiest weeks of the year, and although we prepare for it, many of our craft items take time and care to create because make everything from scratch. This day in particular, and the previous evening, we sold out of many items on the menu. Meanwhile, we were humbly preparing in the kitchen and chocolate factory to return back to full stock (and more) before the end of the day and worked late into the evening to be prepared for the following day. What you experienced is not the norm here, and we apologize profusely for your disappointing experience. We sincerely hope you come back another time and give us another opportunity for a good impression. Thank you for visiting us during your time on Ometepe.

El Pital Chocolate Paradise is a treat to visit! It is set overlooking the water with views out to Volcano Concepcion. The cafe has a range of delicious vegan treats. We had the vegan brownie, the chocolate super power smoothie and the coco chai latte smoothie. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. There is a protected bay next to El Pital where you can go swimming, and this is probably the best swimming spot near Balgue. You must pay a visit to this cafe when you’re in the area.

Beautiful secluded location with good vibes and chill people. I liked the open air accommodation, although the electricity didnt work and the shower didnt work. The greeters were very friendly and the place was very inviting and relaxing. The chocolate was extraordinary, the brownie was out of this world. The road coming in was rugged and only passable on a motorcycle or on foot. Definately a great place work in progress with a lot of potential and a great start to something big. The chocolate alone is worth the trip!

We heard about this place from another traveler and they raved about this hostel saying it was the best hostel in the island. When we arrived, we were not disappointed. It held up to our expectations. Free yoga classes, location is right on the lake, monkeys in the trees, slack lines everywhere, amazingggg chocolate 😍, such a good vibe, beautiful volunteers and happy people. Although there were some water issues and electricity, the staff were on it as soon as possible. What can you say? You are in the jungle. Would stay here every time we come. Thank you so much for the hospitality and we look forward to our stay here again in t he future.

El Pital is just wonderful. The staff and volunteers are so friendly and they helped me out with booking volcano tours and scooters! They have a bar and I really liked their chocolate super power smoothie! I learned a lot about cacao and I loved the fact that I could just jump in the lake! A heaven for vegans! 100% recommended!

Came with my friends to visit this magic paradise!! Enjoyed the love of chocolate(raw cacao 100% organic). We high recommend it!!! The staff is supper helpfully an very kind at all moment! From this location you will be able to do any of their activities, horses are available every day and they have many tours with amazing places to visit as beaches, outlooks and comunity.An other súper nice activity high recomended is the kayaking on the fresh water lake Cocivolca in order to get in to the weatland Istiam river were the wild life are present with beatifull virds, turtles, aligators,etc!! We all enjoyed!!

Beautifully at the lake located hostel. Perfect to swim,sunbath,slackline,play games and best of all - have all kinds of delicious home made chocolate products (vegan). The owners, staff and volunteers are really nice too!

Hands down the best hostel on the island. It has a private beach access with an amazing view of the volcano (my previous one was 15 minutes walk to the beach), great restaurant with tons of Vegan options (the Magic Bowl is unbelievable) and a super friendly staff (hi Sher, miss you already). Highly recommended for anyone who's considering coming to Isla de Ometepe!
