Very happy here! Views were stunning. Staff was incredible and transportation charges they organized were fair. The compost toilet took a little getting used to and the smell wasn't unbearable but if it's the kind of thing that bothers you ask for a flush toilet.
We came to this hotel to check out their pool and restaurant area. The property is high up on Volcan Maderas and has spectacular views of Volcan Concepcion. It is a strenuous walk to get up here but the views are well worth it. Restaurant patrons can use the pool for no extra cost. The pool is really nice and has some of the best views in the area. We had a cacao smoothie while we were there and that was delicious. This place is a great place to come for sunset views. Highly recommended.
Difficult review to make given it is the best accommodation on the island and the staff were awesome; particularly Abel, Miguel, & Pablo. Pro's - incredible views, lovely pool. spacious villa. amazing mojitos, comfy beds, and kind staff Con's - the pool was spoiled by the fact that it is open to the public for a price. It is not a big pool...its just big enough for an 8 room hotel, so when one day at least a dozen people were there with little kids splashing about. it totally ruined the vibe....and truthfully the reason I payed the extra cost of enjoying the nicest hotel on the island was for its beautiful and tranquil pool. It should be said this wasn't a problem every day, but It can easily be a problem There are no windows on the villas of course (which is great for the cross breezes) but the hotel had no problem doing noisy construction before 6am. They didn't see this as a problem when brought to their attention......waking up 3 of 5 days to loud construction before 6am is a total deal breaker. a total shame because otherwise I'd endorse this place.…
Good customer service, the placed need more lights during the night and the Main Street too, restaurant was closed and the places to eat closed too. Was so complicated look for good hot and good food, delivery placed word good ever
The lodge itself is beautiful! Impeccable and very well maintained! The staff friendly, good food and drinks.. pool is great to cool off, we went with our 2 1/2 and had a great time!! The view on volcano la concepcion And the sunset are unforgettable !!!
Accomodation was some of the best in the whole of Central America. so incredibly beautiful, sustainable and eco friendly. Staff were amazing, one including Diana who served us an incredible breakfast one day. Highly highly recommend
We had an awesome time at Totoco. Sitting in the open dining room or on the patio of our cabin looking at Concepcion Volcano was incredible! The staff were all very helpful and super friendly! They helped us arrange a great guide for the hike up Maderas Volcano (ask for Junio he is a fantastic guide!!) We walked down into Balgue a few times from the lodge and it's a bit of a trek but very doable. It's well worth it for staying at this spot higher up and more in the jungle for the views, and the jungle sounds. It is an eco-friendly hotel in the jungle so definitely don't expect high-end luxury, but for us it was all part of a great experience.
Loved the remote jungle stay ... with outstanding views. Pool was fantastic ! Very welcoming staff and the lounge was excellent. Food was home cooked and delicious. Road was crazy getting there so hold on and get ready for the jungle bugs. But butterflies will blow you away and the monkeys hanging out.
our cabin was perfect. From our deck we had a wonderful view of the volcano. The room was very comfortable and the shower was the best ever.....walled for privacy but the roof was open to the stars! The lodge was in the perfect location with panoramic views and surronded by tropical plants. The pool was perfect to relax in and cool off. We loved this place!
When I fist arrived at Totoco Eco-Lodge; after an ‘interesting’ ferry ride that to the island, I did not know what to expect. My first reaction was mixed - I realized I was way outside my comfort zone. I was staying in a room getting a room in the middle of nature! But the views are absolutely once in a lifetime. And getting to this gem is totally worth the adventure! What made it more amazing was the incredible staff. From the Managwr Pablo, who was so patient and caring, understanding that two city women ended up in the middle of nature and trying to find solutions for us, to all the support staff that helped shape our experience, like walking us to our room with a flashlight and delicious, made to order food! The food, is all locally sourced (Totoco and surrounding areas) and it is truly a treat that is hard to ever experience in the city. We did not even want to try any other restaurants on the island! Thank you Pablo and staff for making our stay AMAZING! …
