The bungalows at Playa Negra are just the ticket for an authentic Costa Rican experience. They are simple, clean, and comfortable. The ocean front could not be more spectacular. The food is even good, which is rare in Costa Rica. We stayed there for four days and were very pleased with every meal we had. It also does not break...

Great food and service and fantastic rooms! Stayed with a 6 year old and she had a blast. Family friendly, but a fun bar scene as well... until USA blew group stage win in world cup. :o) Mini super across the street is super convenient. Lula's tours across the way is a bonus at this fabulous place!

We have been to Café Playa Negra a bit randomly and we have been very surprised by how good the food has been. We took an avocado tuna tartare and then a tuna steak with sesame and a teriyaki sauce and it was definitely very fresh and tasty. Atmosphere of the place is friendly and nice. So it is highly...

My wife and I totally loved Cafe Playa Negra. Clean, spacious rooms with good a/c and a room safe. The restaurant has great food with a friendly staff. The pool area was nice and never crowded. The common area upstairs was comfortable and had ceiling fans. A short walk to the beach which has great surf and other breaks close...

We spent 5 terrific nights here. My reservations changed several times before the trip, and Carlos was truly patient and helpful through it all! As we drove into Playa Negra, in dusty dry season, my family of veteran CR travelers (husband & I, kids 22&24 on our 4th trip) was a bit skeptical...till they stepped inside the courtyard of Cafe...

Just an amazing trip, "psuedo-roughing'' it, theres a communal kitchen and dining room. The place has bare essentials room, but is situated within view of the ocean, which has amazing surf. Overall a wonderful trip if you're not a priss.

Just got back from Playa Negra and it was again, amazing! As usual at Café Playa Negra we were treated like family, accommodating our needs and desires. Rooms are always clean and fresh, service attentive and friendly and the food, ahhh, the food....magical, exquisite and at very reasonable prices. The surf, always world class with one of the best photographers...

We finally decided to visit this restaurant toward the end of our trip and wished we have come here sooner. Great menu of smoothies, local food, specialty items, and very friendly and super clean place. I made reservations before leaving for New Years Day Dinner. Love this place. Oh and the location is the best ever. Right on the beach.

I lived next door to this joint for almost 6 months and I was never disappointed with what I was served or how I was served, be it dining in, or doing take away. Lots of ceviche options, the biggest burgers, excellent smoothies and a funky decor. The only disappointment I can list here is that they do not make...

We ate here a few times during our stay in Playa Negra and it was good every time! The breakfast and lunch were our favorite. The service was very good as well. We got there about 10 minutes before they closed, we didn't know they closed for one hour between lunch and dinner, but they didn't say a word and...
