I felt that proprietors used their location to charge exorbitant prices for a room in which the only service was to make the bed. It was said to have cooking facilities, this included a gas oven with no gas and the electrical lead wouldnt have reached a socket any way. Smelt of the deep fryer from the kitchen below. This...

We ordered fresh fresh (told it was Dory), and got served frozen shark. Sort it out mate, I understand if this technique works on some tourists but not everyone. After asking the two guys working there at separate times and getting two different answers (the other Lad said it was snapper) we decided to spend our afternoon elsewhere. Pub is...

The Marlin Hotel is situated across the road from the Whangaroa Sport Fishing Club & the Whangaroa Marina. A group of 5 (2 couples & 1 single) all on sperate motorcycles stayed here one night. The rooms had ensuite & appeared to have been recently renovated. The view from the balcony with the setting sun was stunning. The owner locked...

We didnt stay in the hotel, but did go there, friendly people, who were also very helpful for directions and stuff. We just know for next time the food part isn't open late for our late eating habits haha but made it back for lunch to Lukes Cafe the next day and was very tasty and reasonable prices too. Would...

Awesome place, friendly and welcoming. Quick to help, advise and share some stories. Room was very comfortable and serviced daily, which caught us by surprise. Ensuite, very clean with great shower pressure. Meals fantastic. All at a very reasonable price with a smile. Taking my family back in July.

Wanted a "quintessential country pub". We got it! Publican was really nice guy, very helpful - bon vivant! Front bar was friendly, nice locals. Game of pool, sorta loud jukebox with my sort of music. Chef and meals were great. Good pub fare at a reasonable price and the outlook from the "restaurant" and bar was out over the harbour...

Comfortable and clean room. A little noisy as people were outside the bar area socializing. Fan wasn't working in bathroom and tv very small. Otherwise a great atmosphere and views. Friendly hosts and great value for money. Nice meal in cafe attached.

spent 8th april 2015 at the pub. one of the funniest nights ever spent in a pub, terrific publican a genuine old fashioned country pub, the publican has immense knowledge of local game fishing which was great as we had spent five nights fishing the three kings. would recommend the marlin hotel to anyone as a welcoming stopover.

Had such an awesome night here on Saturday night, I will definitely be back. It was the perfect location for our class reunion, and we all had a wonderful time. If you looking for a room with a view, this is the place to go, its beautiful, the rooms are located above the bar, so please expect that they will...

This was a handy place to go after climbing St Paul's Rock. It has a good choice of beer including Murphy's Stout and Honesty Box cider. Large marlin adorn the walls and there are photos of past catches. It is airy and overlooks the harbour. There is a cafe next door but at $20 for fish and chips we decided...
