The reason we chose Fascide castle was because of the trip advisor reviews so read them - they are 'spot on' . Our experience was outstanding and unique. We had 3 sunny days which meant breathtaking views from everywhere from the roof to the grounds in morning and night. Susan and Ian could not have been more gracious and helpful....

I was brought up in nearby Inveresk and used to play in the ruins of the castle as a young boy in the fifties. So I was surprised to find it had been restored and rebuilt and of course had to add it to my bucket list as somewhere to visit. Even better when I found they took paying guests!...

We were only able to get away for a few days after our wedding and so wanted to travel to somewhere not so distant but remarkable and memorable. This place fit the bill perfectly! We were greeted warmly by the owners who showed us to the BB suite. We were given a little tour and the owners talked with passion...

Words cannot express the beauty and historic preservation of this castle. The Tower reservation was not only receiving private access to wonderful room but three levels to enjoy! You have your bedroom chambers- a sitting room with a delightful wood burning fireplace and a looking tower. I must admit I was brought to tears as we relaxed by the fire...

My husband booked a 2 night stay for my 40th birthday and well what can I say....A wonderful place!! A birthday to remember for all the right reasons!! The Tower was truly magnificent and such a romantic place from the log burner in The Great Hall to the massive bed!! Sue and Ian were the most gracious hosts from our...

What a delightful place. We stayed in the Tower House for Two Nights and felt like a Lord & Lady. A Great Treat for my Wife's 60th Birthday. One of my ongoing interests has always been reading about and visiting castles and now I've been able to stay in a real castle that's even in my Plantagenant Somerset Fry -...

My wife and I made this our last stop on our tour of the UK. We were not disappointed. What a wonderful place. It was the culmination of our tour. The Brash family made us feel welcomed and we so appreciate them sharing their home with us. We had 2 floors plus the roof to ourselves and it was a...

My wife and I booked this castle for our son and his new bride after their wedding in Musselburgh and we have nothing but praise for the Brash family. This B&B is not about money it's about one family wanting people to share a wonderful piece of history that was almost lost. Right from the start they welcomed us as...

My husband and I recently stayed in the Tower at Faside Estate. What an amazing experience all around! The castle itself is quite enchanting, with a long and rich history. Thank goodness it was saved and renovated for people of this age to enjoy! Staying in the Tower, we essentially had two floors and the roof (complete with turrets) for...

An excellent experience from start to finish. From the initial email, which arrived just after booking, through to the farewells as we departed, the owners struck just the right note. We stayed just one night, but this would make a fantastic base for several days near Edinburgh. As the only guests -- there is just the one guest suite of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
...At the top of the 14th century old tower within Faside Castle lies our B & B accommodation, ideal for a romantic get-away and breaks to Edinburgh. The steep spiral staircase leads up past a glass walkway over the old dungeon and up to to a roof top walkway with panoramic views over the Firth of Forth. Why not enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the roof walk on a nice sunny morning? The barrel vaulted bedroom has an en suite bathroom with stand-alone slipper bath. The bed is an enormous 7 foot wide Emperor bed and their is a TV with DVD player in the Great Hall. A microwave, mini-fridge, kettle and toaster are provided within the bedroom suite.Guests staying in the Tower Vaults also have exclusive use of the finest room in the castle, the Great Hall. This magnificent old room has an original stone built fireplace with a log-burning stove, perfect for winter evenings. Beside the window there are stone window seats built into the thick castle walls. In the corner of the room are what remains of the now inaccessible old staircase.Up on the ceiling are some of the original corbels from when the castle was destroyed by fire after the Battle of Pinkie. Behind the tartan curtain is an original stone toilet called the "Laird's Lug" where the Lairds could listen to their prisoners down in the dungeon. In 2010 we commissioned an artist to paint the ceiling and a photo of this can be seen in the photo section.A continental breakfast is provided for guests to enjoy in the bedroom suite at their leisure and tea and coffee facilities are provided in the suite. From the battlements you can see the Forth Rail Bridge, Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh and the coast of Fife. The Tower sits within two and a half acres of garden including an orchard and sitting areas. ... more   less
