Only downside, for me the bed was too hard. Breakfasts were 5 star. Our hosts know how to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. The room was comfortable, clean and I loved the fresh coffee. The bathroom is well appointed. The provision of a shower cap was a nice touch. The views across country are lovely.

This quirky and comfortable house is immaculate and in a delightful setting. Anton and Philip are charming and most welcoming. The catering is also first class but there are good hosteries nearby. We will certainly return

Helpful friendly hosts ensured a comfortable and enjoyable stay; the homemade marmalade at breakfast a real treat. Great base to explore the Yorkshire moors, across to Whitby on the coast and south to York

We stayed with Anton and Phillip for two nights for our minimoon and we could not have asked for more. The house is immaculate and the attention to detail is unsurpassable - the greeting we received upon arrival was wonderful as was the fresh, homemade cake and biscuits in the drawing room. The four course evening meal and breakfasts were... More

Shallowdale House is situated in an elevated position affording wonderful views of its gardens and across a valley to the Howardian Hills. The accommodation is spacious, well decorated and tastefully furnished. The hosts, Philip and Anton, were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. The only downsides were the very high tariff and that dinner had to be booked 48 hours in... More

This was a most wonderful B&B experience. Phillip and Anton were the perfect hosts. They really make one feel welcome. They offered many suggestions on sites to visit, and places to dine in the area. Anton gave us the good tip that when we were going to Pickering to ride the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, that we should not count... More
