We stayed recently for two nights. The accommodation in one of the cottages was lovely. The room, very individual with a lovely bathroom. There are tables and chairs just outside where you can enjoy a cup of tea or read. The food was delicious - rather expensive but my scallops starter was divine. One evening I had a crab cake... We have been frequently visited this Pub for evening meals over a number of years. The quality of the food and service is consistently good. The staff are professional, courteous and friendly. You are made to feel very welcome.. They should be congratulated as they set a standard that others should aspire to.

I had a business meeting over lunch and The Durham Ox was not only convenient but had great reviews on TA. The menu features many local suppliers and favours a contemporary version of local favourites. I had fish and chips, the fish was tasty and lightly battered and served with home made chip, mushy peas and tartare sauce, delicious. Then... More

Had a brilliant one night stay at the Durham Ox. Nice welcome at reception and quickly shown to our room which was one of a lovely row of cottages just yards from the main building. The room was superb, very spacious ,huge bed, top quality linen etc, a small living area with tv, chairs and tea \coffee making facilities. Good... More

The restaurant remains the same as it has been for years but an extended dining room, outside bar, function room has been added, along with disabled access. The quality of service remains excellent, along with the high standard of food. Way above average! Highly recommended.

Such a shame this place is lacking as it could be, should be and indeed has been excellent in the past. Service is confused. Good bloke behind the bar who's obviously on it whilst many of his colleagues are not. Rushed our wine over to us when I had to go to the bar to order because our food was... More

The Durham Ox is in the delightful village of Crayke. We stayed for only one night in Rose Cottage, which was just lovely - more space than we needed, very well appointed, and with a kitchen-sized mini-bar fridge! The bar area is very cosy and the food, wines and beer all really excellent. Some might find it a tab on... More

We chose to stay at The Durham Ox as a midway point for our trip to Scotland. What a find!! This establishment is within a village and is a true community hub. Our room was very comfortable with a brilliant bed, linen, decor & a bathroom to die for. Although they were extremely busy they managed to find us a... More

We visited here on the 1st July for our first day of our holiday, expecting a good little pub serving good pub food as we had been advised to visit due to high regards from others. The menu was very different to expected with mussels and other food that didn't appeal to us unfortunately with all other meals being very... More
