Staying in this hostel was like a homestay. We had such a good and relaxed time at Carlos's place. Carlos is a very gentle person. Be openminded, be laidback and become part of his republica! The hostel is beautiful. It is located at the beach and there's a place with shade for hammocks, where you can enjoy the ocean, the... More

Having read the previous reviews of how amazing El Pulpo is, I want to add that each and every one of them is accurate and to add some extra praise. We spent 3 days with Carlos where we laughed, exchanged stories and watched sunsets. The thing that sets El Pulpo apart from any other place we have stayed at is... More

Carlos made us feel very welcome at Hostal El Pulpo, a clean, big, empty and beautifully located hostel with high standard. He helped us out by giving us a ride, water and stories from his life. The beach was empty except for us, available for swimming/surfing/chilling. Great area for hammocks and reading books. Very nice 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We absolutely loved staying at El Pulpo, the only regret, is that we only did it for one night! I was a little hesitant, at first, because it's advertised as a hostel, (I thought it was going to be like a commune), so I decided to call, and after talking on the phone with Carlos, I felt at ease immediately,... This place is a real jewel. Intended to stay three days, ended up staying nine. It is clean with comfortable beds, kitchen facilities, palapa with hammocks on the beautiful beach, and very good security. Carlos the owner speaks perfect english and is most helpful in providing information about Poneloya and Leon. Bus to Leon can be caught every hour outside the... More

We stayed at El Pulpo for five nights and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect - right by the sandy beach, where you'll meet more pelicans than people. The host, Carlos Reyes, speaks fluent English and is a friendly person, who helped us in several ways - e.g. organized a prescription and collected the medicine for us. El Pulpo... More

Stayed a week at Hostal El Pulpo. Perfect quiet retreat. Carlos the owner is welcoming and very helpful. A very clean property with gorgeous views and the hammocks in the palapa hut are as dreamy as the pictures imply. Poneloya is a perfect getaway from the bustle of Leon but is walking distance from a few great restaurants and corner... More

We stayed in the tortuga room for a few nights and we had a great time. The room was clean and the king size bed was the most comfortable of any of the beds we have had in Nicaragua. The owner Carlos and the manager Jane were exceptional hosts. They helped organize taxis for us and offered tons of advice... More

The house and grounds are taken care of very well. Marco is a perfect host, helping with insights, directions, and anything asked for. I enjoyed the hospitality and felt very much at home. The common kitchen gave us the chance to mingle with folks from all over the globe. WE enjoyed the beach and house more so than any touristy... More

I came here with a friend after she raved about the place. I was planning on staying 2 nights and ended up staying 5 after meeting a few more travelers. It's a great little resort with a small dorm to sleep 5 and a few private rooms. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. There are countless areas to relax with... More
