A small gem on Isabela! We stayed here a week, enjoyed the top floor room with large, screened windows, great view, amazing breakfasts (included) and very friendly staff! Fan, AC and wifi (albeit slow) all work well. Very clean and an easy walk to anywhere for food, beach, tours and bike rentals. The port is also an easy 15-20 mins away on foot and also leads to Concha Perla for snorkeling or just hanging out among iguanas and sea lions. Jonathan, is the chef in the restaurant and we became fast friends with smiles and greetings every time we met. He even hauled up one of the big water cooler sized bottles of water for us one evening when the water was shut off in the area for some repairs to pipes. Sun Island is right beside Coco Surf on the main street and anyone can help you find it. This is a great choice for breakfast and we had an amazing lobster dinner there one night. Stop in, say hello, stay in a comfortable, quiet, clean place and do try the food as an alternative to the more often reviewed restaurants. It's a worthwhile experience!…
The rooms are small, the stairs are steep, and the wi-fi is weak. But we still had an awesome time at Sun Island. Johnny was the best host ever and went out of his way to accommodate us. At Sun Island you are only a short walk from the beach, which is absolutely beautiful. There is a sandy beach for swimming and rocky cliffs for making beautiful photos. Walk outside the front door and you will find a plethora of restaurants for lunch or dinner. Breakfast in the adjacent restaurant is included with your room.
I'd give it 3.5 if it were an option. We stayed here for 1 night while on Isabela (had 2 rooms). It is a small, family run hotel. The staff was very friendly (minimal English but we got by with our minimal Spanish). Pros: Our rooms had fridges, an almost kichenette type of sink and countertop. We arrived early and they made us breakfast to order (restaurant type menu at their little cafe downstairs) the day we arrived. Breakfast was delicious! It included fresh squeezed juice, coffee, eggs, etc. Great friendly service and they helped to book us a tour. It is located in a convenient place where you can walk down the street to eat at the various restaurants or walk the other way to rent a bike. Cons: The hotel is not located at the port so unless you want to walk quite a ways with your luggage, you'll need to catch a taxi (pick up truck for $1/pp). Only other con was that there were ants all over the bedspread in one of our rooms. After we took off the bedspread, we did not see any more ants on the bed, just some on the nightstand. :( We would stay here again but just check the room for ants.…
We really enjoyed our stay at Sun Island. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They made a number of suggestions on things to do and helped arrange taxis, ferry tickets, etc. Breakfast was good and we enjoyed the fresh juice every morning. I personally liked the patacones which I then ordered every morning! The hotel was small but we'll run. Josue gave us his number and was super responsive via WhatsApp. The hotel has a number of nice amenities, good air conditioning, free water in the reception, shower spray at the entry (to keep sandwich out), good wifi (for the Galapagos), very clean rooms, fridge and coffee maker. Isabela is a quiet, laid back island, we had a relaxing stay.
This is a great place to stay, owners are very friendly, the juice at breakfast is phenomenal (and served in the sun and coffee restaurant downstairs). The rooms are big and VERY CLEAN!!! Sun roof has great views of the sea. You can hear the sea all night when you sleep. Can’t believe it wasn’t packed the timeI stayed there - only 3 rooms in the hotel. Definitely recommend and would definitely stay here again!
Small boutique hotel that is family run. They were very friendly helping organize our tours while on Isabela, Galápagos, even though their small hotel was full. Their new restaurant just opened! (Jan 2017) We enjoyed a delicious dinner by Chef Alex Trujillo. That night it was grilled tuna (tender and juicy and not overdone our dried out!), and BBQ octopus. The next day he made our lunches for us, deli sandwiches on fresh baked bread! Stop in and ask him what's cooking!
I stayed a couple of nights here. 3 men run this place. They speak english and make sure everything is great for your stay. The room was very nice. Bed is huge and comfortable. They knew what time I was going on tours and had breakfast ready for me so I had time to eat before I left on my tours. The run a restaurant right in front of the hotel. The hotel is located on the main drive and is only a block from the beach and the main street restaurants. There is a nice overlook above all the rooms with a great view of the town and ocean.
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and were extremely happy with our choice. The room was clean, comfortable, had air-con and wifi. The hotel owners were very friendly and helpful! Most importantly for us, the location of the hotel is brilliant! It is situated in the centre of the town, between restaurants and very close to the beach. If breakfast is included it's provided by a restaurant across the street.
Only a few meters away from the beach, with very nice and dedicated host. The room was on street level and with only a little day light, but this is due to the high temperatures of less importance. We liked the cleanness. Thank you very much!
Perfect location. Close to all the restaurants on the Main Street. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Gave us recommendations on what to do and where to go right when we arrived. The rooms are also very comfortable with air conditioning. There is a roof top with a great view of the beach and wifi works good. Could not have been more satisfied!
