The Sula Sula is not exactly in the heart of Puerto Villamil, but the town is tiny, and the walk to the central plaza took no more than about 10 minutes. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a basic but tasty breakfast included. The owners were very efficient about helping us organize tours to Los Tuneles, Tintoreras, and up to the big volcano. We particularly appreciated their letting us use their wetsuits (shorties). A little bonus is that another family runs a laundry out of their home less than a block away. Getting a load washed and dried the cost just $3
Friendly family run hotel, situated 5 - 10 mins walk from the main street and beach. Because of this you are on the edge of the "pretty part of town". The outlook from our room was not good and next door and down the road to the left it was like a building site, however a few yards to the right and you are in the fancy paved part ! Good English spoken, seemed to have to do the tour operators job telling us times for tours etc next day. Room basic, bathroom small and shower not good, at times no hot water or bad pressure (we were on the ground floor at the front). There was a safe in the room. No Fridge, TV Spanish, Wi-fi slow and patchy, no tea/coffee in room or water - but they had a free chilled dispenser for water in reception to make up for that. Reception is an open area next to the room we were in and we were kept awake on two nights by the noisy big family that was also staying there, sitting and debating loudly. In their defense had they been inside it would not have been a major issue, but the only place to congregate is on the two benches there so it encourages this. Breakfast OK, but unless you tell them otherwise they seem to just cook and bring you scrambled eggs, so get your order in when you arrive.…
We loved staying at this cosy hotel. The staf is very friendly en helped us book 3 tours. The tours were all booked by the best compagnies. The breakfast is good :) the same prices as you find in the city. The shower is perfect, hot, enough water :) We would definitly come back!
Elena was very friendly on arrival and throughout our stay went out her way to give us info. Room very clean and cleaned well every day. Shower always hot and good water pressure. Breakfast not included- is an additional 7 dollars which probably isn't worth it because there's lots of tasty bakeries in the village. Wifi standard for Galapagos but we got connected fine enough to send messages and emails etc. No complaints. Also they let us store our rucksacks in the morning before our boat. Would recommend.
Stayed here for 3 nights last week. This hostel has big clean rooms, nice juice on arrival. 5 mins walk from centre of town. Staff were friendly, they offer snorkelling gear for a few dollars which is very handy WiFi isn't great (only works well in middle of the night) but this is the same everywhere on Isabella. Overall great hostel for the cheap price
It’s a bit walking from the city center but still only 5-10 minutes so not too far. Good room, big bed and good shower. We didn’t have breakfast included but we could use the hotel kitchen to make some coffee and make our breakfast. There’s a bakery and mini market on 5 minutes walking from the hotel. The daughter of the owner spoke English, the owner herself didn’t. Our room problem with this hotel was the noise. Because of the resonance in the hallway you hear every sound and talking. Another thing was a truck next door which came both mornings at 6:30 to load water tanks and kept its motor on for 40 minutes making a lot of noise. I know the owners can do much about that but it kept us out of our sleep both nights.
The room was comfortable, but lacked some basic items, such as a cup. However, you can get a cup at the front desk. We were irritated that when the water dispenser was running low one day, the man at the front desk tried to sell us bottled water, instead of providing it for free. The wi-fi is not available in the rooms, but in a common area.We tried to access it a couple of times, but weren't able to. Not sure if it was down temporarily or what. Breakfast is NOT included! It says it is in the listing, but that is not the case. It is available for a cost. On the plus side, we checked out in the morning, then had a snorkeling tour, then had to catch the ferry. They let us keep our luggage there, and have access to a shower and bathroom after the snorkeling tour. We thought that was pretty nice. As for the staff, there was usually a man or a woman at the front desk. We found the woman to be considerably more friendly and helpful.…
My family and I stayed at Sula Sula and had a great experience. Elena is a wonderful manager and personally showed us our rooms and took the time to answer any questions we had about our stay and the island itself. We had wonderful breakfast each morning and they were very accommodating in serving us breakfast early on days we had tours. The rooms were very clean and we were very comfortable leaving our belongings in the rooms as the whole place was very secure. You are not too far from the center of town, so it is very easy to get wherever you have to go - restaurants, tour offices, the amazing pastry shop a block away, port, etc. I would definitely recommend you stay at Sula Sula if you go to Isabela Island.
A nice and rather new hotel with pleasant and spacious rooms. The owners are friendly and serve a good breakfast. Furthermore, the hotel is environmentally aware and has solar panels to produce electricity and heat water. The location is a bit distant, but then again nothing is really distant from anything on Isla Isabella. WiFi was okay, but caused problems when we were trying to book flight tickets.
Really happy with our stay at Sula Sula, room was nice and clean, shower was warm, breakfast was great and wifi was pretty good. Location isn't the best as it is slightly out of town, nevertheless it is only a 5-10 minute walk to the beach.
