After having spent a good number of years holidaying in up market glitzy hotels what a tonic and nice surprise it has been to spend a fortnight in this really wonderful little hotel owned and run by a Greek family who are so friendly and happy to deal with any request always with a smile. The hotel is simply furnished but the rooms have all the facilities you would require for a comfortable stay. The air conditioning in the bedroom is excellent...thank goodness! If you are looking for a buzzing trendy hotel this establishment is not for you. But if you yearn for a hotel with real old world qualities you would have a lovely stay here. By the way even though the hotel is small the gorgeous swimming pool is enormous. As General Mcarthy said....I shall return
Myself and 5 friends stayed here for the second time in the past year. The rooms are spotless and the hotel is lovely. Friendly service at all times. Its a 5 min walk to the waterside tavernas. A fantastic location to chill with a cold beer and lovely food.
Nostos is not worth 120 euro per night with or without breakfast. Hotel built in the 80s. Totally needs renovating refurbishing the works. Although limited accommodation on the island of Ithaca would not recommend this hotel to anyone
We’ve been travelling to Ithaca for many years but this was our first visit to Nostos. The hotel is simple, but clean, the beds are comfy, the aircon works well and the rooms have everything you need. The pool looks lovely (we didn’t use it) and if you get a sea view room then there is a lovely vista down to the port village of Frikes. The owners are friendly, and overall we would very much recommend this hotel as we enjoyed our stay.
The hotel is small, authentic and totally charming, run by a very caring family. We were looked after by lovely owners and nothing was too much trouble. All very COVID safe too. We had a balcony room that overlooked the beautiful swimming pool and sea beyond, perfect for enjoying a late afternoon sunset drink. The rooms also have have a fridge and kettle for making tea or coffee (although tea or coffee not provided - we had our own tea bags). The ensuite shower is a little on the small side. We arrived 3 days after Storm Ianos which actually was a Hurricaine, unfortunately this had swept over the Ionian islands and Ithaca was affected. The island had no electricity but luckily the hotel had a generator so we were able to have power and Nicki (the owner) was able to cook us a fabulous, tasty meal on our first evening. The hotel is located 8 minutes walk down to Frikes seafront, however the Hurricaine had devastated the tavernas and waterfront here. So sad. We were able to head inland to Stavros and found a couple of tavernas to enjoy our evening meal. Car rental was incredibly easy to arrange from the hotel. We loved this little gem and sincerely hope that Frikes bounces back after the storm damage…
Such a lovely hotel, lovely staff and owners, amazing pool, breakfast and lunch. Great covid restrictions in place. 5 minutes walk to the town. Rooms were so lovely and a very lovely greek style to them.
Several people had recommended Nostos Hotel to me and when I found out that non residents were able to have a drink or meal there, I decided to visit when we stayed in nearby Stavros. When we arrived, we were greeted by Nikki and her husband and we took our drinks on the restaurant terrace overlooking the pool with far reaching views of Frikes. As we were leaving, we mentioned that the hotel had been recommended and asked for some information. The owners then offered to show us one of the rooms which was was spacious and modern and had a balcony overlooking the pool with distant sea views. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The hotel is in a great location, just a 5 minute walk from the small harbourfront which has several restaurants, a bakery and a few shops. Along the Frikes-Kioni coastal road are a series of stunning small, natural beaches which have become my favourite on the island. Nostos is the Greek for ‘homecoming’ and can also mean "Welcome Home" and I can well understand the reason for so many of their repeat guests referring to it as being their ‘home from home’ ... it really is a beautiful little hotel with welcoming, hard working experienced owners in an idyllic location and would definitely love to stay there when we return to Ithaca. …
My return visit to Nostos and the wonderful owners Nicki and Andreas did not disappoint. This small but beautifully appointed hotel is a treasure to be remembered. Nicki can make all the arrangements for travelling to the hotel from Kefalonia with great savings compared with a tour company's 'all inclusive travel'. And what a lovely unspoiled island Ithaki is. Go there, you will not be disappointed.
We have just returned from a fabulous 2 week holiday at the Nostos hotel in Frikes. We booked the hotel directly with the owner (Nicki) who also arranged all our taxi transfers to get us to and from Kefalonia. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel very welcome by the owners Nicki, Andreas and their son Loukas. We had booked a top floor room triple room with sea view which was immaculately clean. The room also had a ceiling fan, a/c, fridge and a kettle. The pool area was very spacious with a great sized swimming pool and pool bar serving drinks and excellent lunches. Throughout our stay Nicki was very helpful, giving ideas on places to see, she even arranged our car hire. Frikes is a beautiful little village with a small pebble beach in walking distance, a handful of tavernas and a few small shops. The next village of Stavros ( 5 minutes by car ) is absolutely wonderful and has a number of excellent tavernas/ cafes - we fell in love with this authentic village. Polis beach just outside Stavros was also one of our favourites. This was our first time on Ithaca but will not be our last- it ranks in our top 3 of the many Greek islands we have visited. Thanks again to Nicki and her family, we hope to return soon. …
Stayed at Nostos while visiting friends on the island. Location is good since it’s very close to the small port of Frikes. Hotel is well built and has good common areas with plenty of parking. The staff is friendly enough but very strict with their policies and procedures. Service overall is fair since it’s hard to rate a place that has such strict rules. The room we stayed in was small but looked clean and well appointed. The twin beds were just OK. Each bed had a nylon lining that was u comfortable and loved around a lot under the sheets. The fridge was empty but it worked fine. The AC was adequate but the fan direction was hard to control and the air was blowing on one of the beds. Try as we did, we could not get the direction of the air to move from landing directly on the bed through the night. That was annoying. The worst part of the room though was the bathroom. The stand up shower was extremely tight and you couldn’t move around comfortably in it. God forbid that you drop your soap since it would a challenge to be able to pick it up again. The toilet was small and very uncomfortable slammed on one of the walls of the bathroom. The sink was small as well. So you get the theme here...the toilet was comfortable if you weigh 100 lbs and stand 5 foot tall. But if you don’t then your life will be very uncomfortable. …
