Detailed Reviews
I had a beautiful one-bedroom condo at Compass Point. I was in a ground floor Deluxe Poolside Condo. It was easily big enough for a family of four and had a gorgeous kitchen with granite counters, two baths, and a patio with a sliding glass door that opened onto a private patio adjacent to the pool and hot tub. I loved coming back from the dive boat, dropping off my stuff, and heading straight out the back door to the hot tub to warm up.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot, and a blender for making drinks. There are some pots and pans, and plenty of dishes. Central A/C is available but on the ground floor I only needed it at night.
The condo was spotlessly clean, and the bed comfortable. Breakfast at Eagle Ray's is included, and they serve a full breakfast buffet. If you're diving they pick up your gear at the door and the dive boats are right across the street. It's a perfect setup for a dive vacation.
One thing to mention is that housekeeping service is not included, though it's available for a fee. I was just as happy to not worry about tidying up first thing in the morning. There is a washer and dryer in the unit so you can either pay for a housekeeping visit midweek to freshen all the linens, or just run a load of towels.
The one thing I really disliked was the condo layout. The bedroom window opens onto the entryway for two units. That has two major downsides. First, neighbors coming in late and talking loudly in the entryway woke me up a couple times. Second, they had to put blackout drapes in the window to block the front porch lights from shining directly into the bedroom. (What was the architect thinking?!?) With the blackout drapes there is no morning sunlight so waking up for early dives was hard. The windows have glass blocks for privacy so the porch light problem could be solved with a motion sensor that turns off after a few minutes. Perhaps they'll read this review and figure something out.
Overall though it was a beautiful and well-appointed condo and I would stay there again.

We have stayed at Compass Point/Ocean Frontiers many times throughout the years and keep going back because we love it so much. This is a dive resort that caters to divers. You really do roll out of bed and onto the dive boat! They have 3 new dive boats, great crew, and an excellent dive shop. Just so well run, very safe and professional and FUN! So easy, all your equipment is in crates on the dive boat you are on every morning, tucked under your seat. Your BCD is on your tank and switched between dives. The dive staff is friendly, professional and accommodating to everyone on board. Our adult children, ages 18 and 21 were certified on this trip. They did their pre-certification work at home and 4 checkout dives and then dove the remainder of the week. I would highly recommend Ocean Frontiers for beginners! They also have a pool dedicated to diving. In addition, they have another lovely pool and hot tub for post dive relaxation. They have plenty of loungers and hammocks on the beach as well. They have a great restaurant on site, Eagle Rays, and a buffet style breakfast is included every morning. It is just perfect for divers! We did enjoy dinner a couple nights and loved the lion fish tacos! We always stay oceanfront and love the spacious, clean, bright and open rooms with a full length ocean front patio/balcony where we enjoyed our lunch after our morning dives- and cocktails before dinner. We actually prepared all our lunches and most dinners in our kitchen and also using the gas grills on site. Nice size dining area in the room. We have spoken with people that stay in the new rooms in their newer building across the street and they love the rooms too. This is a quiet, beautiful divers paradise. Highly recommend this resort.

+1
If you want to have a phenomenal diving experience, this is a place to visit. We have been there twice. The hotel fee included a car rental, which made life great. The East End of Grand Cayman is not replete with development (though Mark Cuban's home is next door), so you need a car to get around. The driving is safe and easy and there are enough restaurants within 15 minutes with great food. The resort includes a large efficiency unit. The dive service is really second to none. They pamper the divers. They keep and clean your equipment, set up the tanks, provide dive guides, entertain with great dive talks and maps during each trip and provide some refreshments on the boat. The regulators include dive computers. The diving in the East End is also great. Some of the sites on the wall are beyond description, and they will take you from the north to the south of the East End of the Island. We did a night dive, a trip to Stingray City and a wreck dive on the Kittiwake with the resort's organization and I couldn't have been happier. They carried all our gear and took good care of us.
The resort is not for people who don't dive. If you don't dive, go somewhere else. The beach isn't great, the pool is mediocre, and the services (e.g. spa) are almost nil. But, if you are a real diver, this is heaven. The breakfasts are included, though they had been better during out first stay, when omelettes were made to order. The bar is a great place to hang for a drink. We picked up beers and drinks at a local market and kept them in the fridge in the room. The units have nice kitchens, so you could even cook a meal if you were inclined. The views are amazing and the sunrises are spectacular.
I can't say enough about the quality of the dive masters and the crew. I have been to dozens of dive sites and they are able to maintain a great, enthusiastic and helpful team. No request was too small. I would certainly go back.

We spent 7 peaceful mornings watching the sunrise from our balcony, coffee in hand, put on the swimmers, grabbed our small dry bags, headed to Eagle Rays for our divers breakfast and down the dock to our boat. It really is that simple. Staying at Compass Point and diving with Ocean Frontiers allowed for maximum time on the water, the option to eat in using our full kitchen or take a short drive to one of the fantastic East End restaurants, the ability to throw in a load of laundry, and RELAX. We spent one afternoon receiving massages in our room with only the sheers pulled, listening to the ocean and birds. The accommodations are very clean, the A/C worked great, shower with excellent water pressure, huge balcony, screened living and bedroom doors leading to balcony, well manicured beach area, and amazing location directly on the beach. We only visited the pool across the street once and it was well kept and clean. Staff are more than accommodating and exceptionally friendly.

Beautiful view, although can’t really go in the water. Quiet part of the island although it was even more quiet because it was the beginning of Covid so no cruises were on the ports. Easy to get around with a rental car (you need one if you want to explore). Scuba was for two of the family members and they had excellent diving each day. They would wake up, go get the breakfast at Eagle Ray’s, and wake with only their waterproof bag, everything else was taken care of. I was a non-diver so I would go out and explore the other parts of Caymans with my rental car. Starfish Point Beach, Rum point, Seven Mile, Blow holes, Spotters Beach, and Sting Ray city were all places that I got to explore. Grocery and liquor stores were both up the street—stock up since restaurant can get pricey.

MANAGING EXPECTATIONS!!!! I think the reviews for this hotel are not realistic, it is def NOT a 4.9 hotel!!! it is a 2.5 star hotel! The beds are TERRIBLE!! there are tons of sink holes in them and when you ask to switch the bed they will flip the bed over so you can sleep on the box spring side!! If you are old and have bad knees the bathroom is a death zone!! The tub/shower rim is very high and on multiple occasions my husband and myself stub our toes getting in and out of the shower. There are no elevators so if you are on the top floor bring light luggage, no one offered to help with luggage. The beach is ok, there are no umbrellas and the current is stronger on the east end so the water always looked like muddy lake water, brown. You cant see the bottom of the ocean floor it was covered with seaweed. In the hotel description on the their website they say they give you a welcome package which includes a cooler. The cooler legit is the smallest cooler i have ever seen and only hold 2 drinks in it, def not something that you could take to another beach and use. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, glasses, pans, refrigerator. The water out of the faucet tasted slightly weird so we brought like little water bottle peach tea packets which helped it. The hotel does not include house keeping which is very interesting. Because if you want your room turned down or bed made up for you, it was an additional fee per housekeeping visit. For 15$ its clean towels and remove your garbage (per visit); For 30$ its make your bed, sweep the floors, clean your dishes; For 60$ its change linens, clean the bathroom, clean the kitchen, clean the actually hotel room. It just seemed like an extra rip off to not include basic housecleaning services in the room rental rate. We came during thanksgiving weekend, the hotel didn't seem busy but the dive team was. So if you didn't book out in advanced your didn't get to experience a morning dive or the USS Kitti dive which is only offered on Wednesday's. The food at the eagle Rays was really good and probably the most affordable on that side of the island. We also really enjoyed the italian kitchen. The dive team was awesome and they changed over everyones equipment during the two tank dives. Some of the younger dive staff was a little rude and would talk down about other adventure operations/ tours on grand cayman, it was distasteful.

My wife and I had a great week at Compass point. The location on the quieter east end is great, the well crewed boats can get to the North, East, and South depending on winds, and the room was perfect with its kitchenette. The rental dive gear (BCD/Reg/Nitrox) was all quality equipment. There are a few places to eat within walking distance along with the resort itself. Parking for a car was always available. Overall, we have added another dive resort to our future list of places to visit again.

My wife and I stayed here for a week September of 2022. We came here for the diving! We absolutely love the ocean and the incredible ecosystem under the water. Extremely disappointed in the staffs lack of knowledge or interest sharing any information about the Grand Cayman marine environment. Like most tourism businesses they are trying to rebuild their employees after COVID. The biggest problem here is that the old employees are teaching the new employees bad habits! The dive guides could absolutely care less about sharing any information about what you can expect to see on a dive. Most dive companies have their guides carry a slate to write down the common names of the wonderfully whacky creatures you find on your dive. The guides shared nothing about what creatures you could expect to see or look for during your dive. 8 plus divers per guide. Yes!! 8 plus. There guides goal is to do a rapid dive profile ( I dove 14 dives and even spoke with the operations manager) get you back to the mooring pin give you the there is the boat sign and leave you to figure out what to do with the remaining 2500psi in your tank. I honestly have never swam so fast on a recreational dive where I wasn’t hunting for something. Forget seeing anything micro. I did enjoy seeing the sharks, but let’s get real any competent diver should be able to recognize those. The boats are absolutely set up for diving. The nitrox is 32 to 33% The room we stayed in was great. Self contained kitchen. Comfortable bed. Hot shower. Air conditioning worked great. The restaurant eagle rays was poor! Unless you wanted a cold beer. Breakfast was included in our stay. Who doesn’t want a full tummy before going diving. Well if you have a cast iron stomach you may be able to choke down what they have. My recommendation would be to get stuff from the grocery store before you arrive. This review is absolutely honest, sincere. And incredibly respectful. If you absolutely love to dive and are curious to learn about environments and the incredible creatures that live in the Caymans you can probably find a better company to dive with. If you are just looking to breathe compressed air and go home just as ignorant about Grand Caymans underwater ecosystem as when you arrived this place is perfect for you.

We’ve stayed in multiple properties now since 2017 and Compass Point is top of the list. Sunset House has an awesome house reef and great boat diving but falls way short on service, accommodations and food. Morritts is a nice resort overall but Diving operation through are Sail and Tortuga is more colocated than per of the resort. Westin is an awesome resort but again Red Sails is more add on, not really a dive operation vs. boat transportation. Compass Point rolls up the best of all of them with friendly, knowledgeable dive staff, nice boats, full service gear management if you want it, Nitrox and other specialty dives.

We stayed here for a week in order to finish our scuba dive certification and enjoy the reef on the east side of Grand Cayman. Check-in is through the dive shop and I should mention that there seems to be a little disconnect between the dive company who is at the hotel and the folks who actually manage/book the hotel. Even so, we were able to get all our questions answered and issues resolved.
The condo itself was very clean but not brand new. All the appliances worked great and I was able to make some fabulous locally bought seafood dinners while we were there. Linens, bed and furniture were good and comfortable enough. We stayed in the absolute perfect condo on the bottom floor furthest to the side. We could walk out our patio to the beach where there were chairs and a hammock to relax in. The patio has a table and chairs also.
The in-house dive company was excellent. The week we were there they experienced unusually rough ocean conditions so we had to change the site a few times, but they are very knowledgeable about each location and the captain personally checked the conditions by diving in before he/she let us get in the water. We saw quite a lot of wildlife and were thrilled to see a reef shark up close. We will definitely be back here to dive with this company even if we choose to stay somewhere else next time.

It's full service "concierge" diving, so you put all your gear into a crate when you arrive, and it's at the boat when you get there and ready to go. When you get back after the dive, you just leave everything on the boat, they rinse/clean the gear and have it ready to go for your next dive.
Yes, I agree with other comments. Small beautiful beach, not a lot of other people but you might talk someone into kayaking with you. We were exhausted from all the diving in the mornings and didn't go out swimming in the ocean much but the pool is very nice. I can't wait to go back, loved every minute of it.
They do allow it on certain dives bit you got to certified!
