One of the capitals of the Hoysala dynasty, Belur is renowned for its magnificent Hoysala temple architecture. The major attraction here is the Chennakesava Temple built by Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana, to commemorate his victory over the Cholas. It is the only Hoysala temple still in active use for worship. The temple stands on a platform and has exquisite art work on its outer walls, with bracket figures of dancing girls in various poses, carved to perfection. The other equally impressive monuments are the temples of Chennigaraya, Viranarayana, Sridevi and Bhoodevi, all in the same complex. Karnataka Hotels, Belur is literally a five minute walk from the temple complex and ideally located for those seeking to spend more time admiring the beauty of the temples. The hotel's 13 rooms include a suite as well as air-conditioned and non air-conditioned options. A restaurant and bar completes the facility.

Centrally located, easy to find. Lots of parking space. The restaurant serves freshly prepared tasty food though the service and timinings could be improved. Prices are very reasonable and all payment options are availble.
Check-in was good enough. They verfied full vaccination certificates. However masks in common places were not properly enforced, neither most of the staffs were masked.
Rooms are decent, large in space and has all basic amenities. Good part was that there was also an extra bed if may need. Sleep quality was very good. Room and washroom was clean. 24x7 hot water was supplied and they also provide a litre of bottled water per night per room. Linen quality was good. However some furnitures might need a makeover in near future. Overall good enough rooom with very good sleep quality for a very affordable price.
Definitely a good option to stop by for food or night stay in Belur.

This a KSTDC property and only decent place in Belur for staying. We stayed here for 2 nights from 1/12/24 to 3/12/24 in their Suite room. The Suite was well appointed. Living room had a sofa seating arrangement with 2 single seat sofa and 1 three seater sofa with a decent center table. Two single beds were also there in the living room. Bedroom had a large King bed with attached toilet. Room and toilet was clean. Linens and towels are clean way beyond expectations considering this being a Govt. Property. In house restaurant Atithi was Good with decent food quality and very reasonable pricing. Overall a good place to stay in Belur

I booked this Karnataka Govt hotel directly through website. The staff at reception, at the restaurant and the room service are very cooperative and helpful. There is ample parking space. The rooms were spacious and clean. Never expected in a Govt hotel. The rates too were reasonable. The location is very close to Belur Temple and Halebidu is just 16 kms from here. We enjoyed our stay here.

The hotel is located at a walking distance from the Channakeshava temple. The rooms are very spacious and well maintained. Hotel staff is courteous. However, it is advisable not to opt for the cp plan, which includes breakfast. They call it 'continental breakfast', but the only dishes available were cold and soggy and puri-bhaji, made in a different building and brought to the restaurant after a lot of waiting. Restaurant staff was very arrogant.

Centrally located with ample parking space, the dining area can get crowded with outside visitors. Neat and clean, a good hotel, and great food. the best part is it very close to the temple. The hotel rooms are spacious. No lift but people are very helpful

1. The reception staff did not practice a single WHO recommended or even the basic COVID protocol. They just laughed it off. Yet they had the temperature equipment and the sanitizers. It's a disgrace that a government run establishment doesn't follow this protocol on its frontlines.
2. The "premium room" seems to be premium just because you have an AC in it. The shower was spraying in all directions and hence broken. It has not been attended to for a long time.
3. The hygiene in the bathroom is poor - we spotted cockroaches
4. The food at the cafeteria is very limited and quality is poor on some items. We were appalled to find that our south Indian items like sambar were so badly prepared - in COVID times there could be fewer items but at least they should be properly prepared. Cafeteria also has no COVID protocol.
5. We found unrelated groups of people hanging around in the property including drivers, locals etc. Leaning on visitors cars, walking around without a mask were common sites.
6. Overall value for money for a family were was very poor.

The staff are untrained government babus. Nobody cares about the guests. The place is filled with middle aged men retiring after a heavy drinking session. AC is loud as a truck engine and you'd have to be deaf to manage to sleep.
TV is broken and the attender will lie that they have satellite(connection) television. It never works.

spent 1 night in this place before visiting belur the next day.
we were happy with the stay, which is already to say something as we were concerned about staying a few days in a 3 star standard indian hotel . we simply had not been in such before.
room was clean and mostly working. our room was 107, first floor
couple of things: glass windows were too thin, so street noise was quite audible in the room shower was mostly working as a "bath". the shower cap itself had too much calc to let water out.
in restaurant, it was annoying to see waiters not wearing mask or wearing it by the chin, as in reception, but i guess you have to accept that.

I am fond of travelling and have stayed in numerous government accommodations all over the country. As per my experience mostly these hotels are in dilapidated conditions and unclean. This is why the Hotel Mayura Velapuri amazed me. Apart from being in close proximity to the Chennakeshava temple, the AC hotel room was huge, spotlessly clean with well kept furniture! The bathroom was also extremely clean, with clean towels, though there were few cracks in the basin. Next was the food. We had ordered low spice dishes for lunch and dinner and they met exactly our expectations. And the AC room and food we got at a very reasonable rate as well. So all in all my stay was highly satisfactory.
