A comfortable and charming hotel with spacious rooms. Surprisingly well furnished and well kept despite being about four decades old. Barring no ready availability of a bell boy at check in time, service was good despite it being a Government sector hotel.

Kingfisher is a place run by Haryana Tourism. It is located strategically, though if you are traveling from Delhi towards Chandigarh/Amritsar, you will have to go further and take a U turn to reach, which is a bit confusing, as it road bifurcates. So keep that in mind.
It is located down the highway and has ample space for parking etc.
I had used the restaurant and it has got a decent and basic menu. The food was hot, tasty and value for money. I would not expect anything fancy on the menu, but it serves good food, which is less oily and suits the taste buds.
I would recommend the place; it is peaceful and decent for a break.
Am not aware of lodging facilities or their quality, but from the outside it looked average. Though if it's a break, one should be satisfied.

The hotel Kingfisher is on Delhi Highway in a good location. We stayed for one night in a standard room. There is a large lobby. The building has large lawns., which r not very well maintained . In general the property maintenance is very poor. The restaurant did not have half the things on the menu, the light beer was over, the restaurant is not well lighted and the furniture is not very clean. Food taste is average. Much worse r the rooms. In our room the furniture upholstery were positively dirty, room was dusty with not very clean walls, tables were greasy, the linen on beds was not changed after the stay of the previous guests. There were hair on it everywhere. The linen was changed after we insisted on it. The floor at the entrance to the room was broken and was covered with a dirty rug. The room balcony absolutely dirty and was probably not cleaned in last 15 days. The bathroom was just tolerable. Shower and geyser were working. Overall a bad impression and not a pleasant place to stay due to dirty rooms. The room rate was reasonable for a standard room. The staff was polite. No tea bags and sugar etc is provided.

Under the leadership of Mr. Sood (Manager) the property welcomes you and makes you feel great. It is a huge property. An excellent Bar with Barman Mr. Bom serving you drinks as well as food. From reception to room service it is an excellent place. It is a huge property and ample place to take a morning or evening stroll in lush green grass.

You may not be planning a stay here but this hotel bang on highway is a great stopover. Building is old but very spacious rooms offering you clean bed and linen. I found everything functioning to perfection, a rare experience for a government run organization. The only thin I missed was in room tea/ coffee provision. Off course, you can order from room service but then it is a Haryana style milk and sugar rich treat!!!

Booked a room in Hotel Kingfisher, Ambala for a night while on the way from Delhi to Dharamshala. The location is nice, just on the turn on the highway when it branches into two roads, one for Chandigarh and another towards Amritsar. So it made perfect sense for us driving from Delhi to spend the night here and then continue towards Dharamshala the next morning.

First issue, we missed the turn and ended up going 4-5 km before making a U-Turn and coming back to the Hotel. I though its because of the night time that I missed but the next morning I did not find any turn.

Hotel itself is ok, being made in a round manner. We booked the room online and there was no problem in the check-in. The rooms are basic with lovely balconies looking over the grounds. A nice bar serves chilled beer. We ordered dinner in room and it was real nice.

All in all, this is perhaps the only option for a decent stay in Ambala.

Kingfisher is a Haryana State Govt Run Property and is credible to be called a Motel for being situated right on the highway - NH1. As the management of the motel gives you a first stint & thought of being a Govt run hotel, you can be well thought of your decision to stay in. Quite old property and certainly not maintained well. The staff is rude as they are typical govt employees and the service is uncalled for. Though the property is nice and the situation is awesome and so are the rates if you stay overnight but for the stop over purpose its a great refreshing joint if you wanna lounge over a beer or a coffee. Will not recommend for overnight stay as there are other better hotels in the city.
