its a nice, clean, safe little hostel located few blocks away from the beach of Playa La Barra. The owner and her staff were very helpful and attentive and all my needs were met by the hostel owner and his maid.

This is a simple but very relaxing and CLEAN hostel. I specially recomend the green juice offered for breakfast, delicious! Very well located in La Barra - walking distance from Ruta 10 but far enough to be in a quiet and relaxing environment. Attendend by its friendly owners.

We liked everything about this place. We had 2 beds in the 8 bed dorm, and there was only one other guy. The other rooms seemed to have couples and families so a nice mix of people. Everything was clean and like new. Breakfast was cereal, milk, wheat bread for toast, butter, jams, coffee, tea and fresh juices. Easy walk...

Christina and Raphaela are amazing hosts, so friendly! Rojo y Negro is a breath of fresh air in the hostel scene in Uruguay. Geared towards families and couples, it is modern, clean, and hosted by a lovely mother and daughter team. Rooms are spacious and have clean, memory foam mattresses. Dual sinks, lockers for storage, great Wi-Fi, and a clothesline...

We really had a great stay at this hostel. Comfort, cleanliness, air conditionig and facilities were all up to the level you would expect from a good hostel. That alone was well worth our money. In addition to that, the kitchen is well equipped and we were able to watch the german soccer "clasico" on TV. However, and most importantly,...

Love Cristina and her Mom. Mom mans the kitchen and keeps it clean - wash your plate and she is right behind you to dry it and put it away. It's those small details that keep the place clean. People walk around barefoot. Love the clean lines of the design and the simplicity of the place. Great outdoor seating area...

Christina is the owner of Rojo y Negro and is a very special person and a great host. We stayed in early December and were the only guests to this new hostel. The high Season really only starts in La Barra in late December so we were lucky to have a lot of time to chat with Christina to learn...
