We stayed for one night at this lovely country house hotel which we learned is owned by Eric Clapton. Well, Eric, you did us proud,! We upgraded to a superior room The Byland and it was gorgeous. A huge room with lovely furnishings a great big comfy bed and a lovely view over parkland. The bathroom could have accommodated 4...

We stayed here after a long delayed visit to Castle Howard. A suite! Our own front door! And a secret door straight into the dining room! Plus an old iron oven and fireplace in the bedroom because this used to be the kitchen and bakehouse for the 'big house' when it was a private house.

We enjoyed dinner, bed and breakfast at this lovely Hotel set in the heart of rural North Yorkshire. The room was well appointed and the bed very comfortable, large spacious bathroom with bath and shower, with quality products. We used the indoor pool which we had to ourselves. The food was very good, with a good range of wines. The menu...

We stayed here on a deal and could not have been more delighted. A small, remote hotel that is very comfortable but not at all stuffy. The food was delicious but not pretentious. The young staff were friendly and clearly knew what they were doing. Our fellow customers were a group on a shooting party which gave just the right...

We have never been disappointed with the hospitality we have received from the staff and the extra mile they have gone to ensure our stay has been enjoyable. As always the food is outstanding at both dinner and breakfast, menu...

My husband had booked dinner at Burythorpe House to celebrate my birthday. We arrived and were shown into the elegant lounge which had a lovely log fire burning in the hearth. We were given menus and pre dinner drinks... it was all very relaxing. We were shown to our candlelit table in the intimate panelled dining room where a pre-dinner...

Booked this hotel en-route! Checked in and was escorted to our room which was a small double but as we only needed to sleep in it it was very adequate. The en-suite bathroom was lovely - nice "products" and super shower! Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order - orange juice clearly freshly squeezed. A lovely "find" and very charming...

I suppose we have been coming to this little gem once in a while over the past 20 years or so. This was our first visit since it was taken over recently by the new owners and the positive signs of the makeover are there to see.Nicely decorated, friendly & attentive staff, quiet & relaxing ambience and a comfortable lounge...

Recent stay - girls' break in North Yorkshire with DBB. What a beautiful place and hotel. Loved the quirkiness or our room - with built-in kitchen range! Decor of the highest standard with beautiful bathroom and Molton Brown bath products. Fabulous dinner and breakfast. Lovely staff too. Great area for walks around ruined abbeys, shopping at MacArthur Glen and the...
