This was the high point of our visit to Venice. As we were celebrating the 45th birthday of one of our party, we arranged for a private launch to take us from our hotel on Giudecca to Torcello via Murano. Certainly an extravagance but well worth it to travel in style and at one's own pace. On arrival at the...

The service and friendly staff where nothing was too much trouble, certainly made our stay a memorable one. They were helpful and answered all our questions. The ferry across to the main land was prompt and again we were looked after very well. if we visit Venice again we would most certainly stay there and will recommend the hotel to...

I've been meaning to go to Torcello for 25 years and finally made it there. My wife and I spent the evening here w/ 2 other couples and had a wonderful experience. The inn is charming & the rooms are well appointed w/ antique furniture. Polite, professional service. Not a modern, high tech place, but very cozy. We got half...

Recommended by a colleague - a bit of a journey from Venice using the water buses but well worth it. Excellent food, wine and service. Very good value for Venice, I think - 150 euros for our meal which included champagne, wine and three courses from a set menu (55 euros each). Main course and starters from a la carte...

We were recommended to have lunch here to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. After quite a long trip by boat from Murano, Burano and a walk in the warm sunshine we were happy to arrive in the shady elegant terrace overlooking the pretty garden. We chose from the set menu, all was delicious with reasonably priced wine. Service was excellent...

This restaurant is just a dream place on this lovely island of Torcello ! The food is excellent and the garden is just heaven with roses and a beautiful view on the church. Nevertheless, the prices are quite high and the waiter was first reluctant for us to have a look at the place prior to eat...a bit selective..

This hotel really 'made' my trip to Venice and to escape the hustle and bustle when we wanted. Staff are very good and you encounter many who make you want to go back. One of the best hotels in the world.

We chose the Locanda for a three night stay to celebrate a birthday and a 40th wedding anniversary. Our room, the Santa Fosca, overlooked the church and cathedral and was totally quiet, apart from the endearing creaky floorboards. Service is absolutely fantastic. It was Easter, and the restaurant was catering for hundreds at lunchtime. We were on half board terms...

I became acquainted with the Locanda through a Bellini. We had stopped for a drink while visiting the beautiful mosaics of Torcello Then I learned that one could stay at the Locanda. The rooms beautiful with views of the garden and the ancient church. After the water buses stop the island belongs to you. The dining is superb and you...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Simple, elegant furnishings combined with polite, attentive service and culinary delights based on reinterpretations of typical Venetian dishes which created the "Cipriani style" are the ingredients that have gone into the success of each and every one of Giuseppe Cipriani's restaurants. Still today, they make the Locanda Cipriani in Torcello a cut above the rest. Unlike the surrounding triumphant landscapes with the churches and the blooms in the garden, the Locanda Cipriani, designed as a rustic maison d'hôte, receives its guests in a simple, almost austere environment dominated by wooden ceilings, terracotta bricks covering the walls decorated in Venetian bas-reliefs, and old copper pots and pitchers hanging here and there. he restaurant has two large rooms, both with large windows overlooking the garden. Diners can sit on the outdoor terrace in summer. The garden, is open from the beginning of spring right through to autumn. The blooming daisies, tulips, roses and dahlias, the golden pomegranate trees and the fiery red of the Virginia creeper vines combine to provide beautiful surroundings for the restaurant.. Every day, the "maitre pâtissier" creates a vast assortment of sweet snacks, bavarois, cream cakes, meringues, sorbets, biscuits and chocolates. Our maître carefully selects a range of Italian wines - with an emphasis on those from Friuli and Veneto regions - to provide the perfect accompaniment to the food. The kitchen, headed up by chef Cristian Angiolin, not only serves dishes invented by the Cipriani family and now considered classics - such as 'carpaccio' of raw meat and John Dory 'alla Carlina' - but also offers a whole range of dishes featuring fish, vegetables, home-made pasta and rice. ... more   less
