We stayed for 4 nights at Caricako to spend the last week of our trip to wind down and relax on the beach. We stayed in a private double room with bathroom and we loved it. Tidy, easy going and had a kitchen which we used every night to cook. The hostel had a very chill vibe and positive atmosphere...

I'm unsure what has happened in the past few months since the last review but I was incredibly disappointed. The double room we booked was not clean, there were hairs all over the bed and the bathroom was not clean. The price ($30) was misquoted initially too. Kitchenette is not particularly clean. The only positive aspect was the friendliness of...

He showed us so much cool stuff in the surrounding area and really did his upmost to make sure we had a good time. If you're into snorkelling/hiking/nature/any sort of adventure I would really...

I had the pleasure of staying at Funky Manza just this past month, during a backpacking trip to Costa Rica with a friend. We had just gotten off the bus from San Jose and we were slightly concerned that we missed our stop in the middle of Puerto Viejo, which is a few miles back. It seemed that most of...

Every arrival at the Funky Manza felt like a coming home. Mikey takes good care of everyone and is a fun and relaxed person to hang out with. He has some of the best advice for traveling the Caribbean and all of Costa Rica and arranges amazing tours, from fishing to river rafting and hiking the jungle. The hostel is...

Right where the coastal caribbean road ends, you will find Manzanillo and the Caricako Hostel. In Manzanillo, you are at the very edge of one of the most exuberant nature on the whole Costa Rica, right at the entrance of the famous Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Reserve. Manzanillo is the typical setting and it's traditions and way of life of the first settlers is still kept. Caricako Hostel is the best place to discover the real "happening "of this tiny little village. The Hostel is right in the "center" of the village and just in front of the most amazing snorkeling spot. From there you can also do rafting, hiking at night in the jungle, surfing , paddle- boarding along the coast to some secluded coves...Our sleeping rooms are five bunks with ten twin beds, two showers and bathrooms, a kitchenette with fridge, and an outside shower at the entrance. Come and check us out, we are 10mts away from Manzanillos Bus stop, next to Soda Wacho. ... more   less
