I have visited this place with my girlfriend for a week to take a break from aparment prison. Their workation packges come at good price for the cleanliness, rooms and views they provide.
They sanitized all the rooms, all the staff wear masks and body temperatures are measured daily. Once we reach the resort we are not allowed to go out of the resort, kind of quarantine in resort but 1000s times better than being quarantined in a Bangalore apartment.

The place is located on top of hill and provides excellent views and serene environment for working. Internet connection is good in restaurant , you might face some signal issues in rooms. Food is good but with limited options. They have qualified Naturalist Lohit, who took us for a plantation walk . Service is good , any issue you face will be addressed immediately.

Excellent place of top of hill(Pollibetta).
Great view 360° from the lawn area on top.
We stayed there from 24th October to 07th November, resort is very higenic taking care of all safe procedures during the pandemic. Staff are very friendly and hospitality is great.
Food is great nice wild spices.
Bon fire everyday to warm up in the chilling nights of resort.
Mr.Lohith Naidu gives insight of various birds around and plantation tour which is fantastic.
The wifi offered was very good with decent speed. One of the best resorts to do "Work from resort" option.
Service is really good, just by a phone call to reception you get anything done within minutes like cab/auto/room service etc they take action swiftly.
Overall it was great, A break to take from the city life and head into the peaceful porcupine castle resort in the midst of nature.

Coffee, Pepper, Rain, Mist, Views and a Memorable Stay. A short 5 day stay. We stayed at their Valley View Chalet Rooms overlooking their massive coffee and spice plantations with oak, Rosewood and Teak trees. Because of unseasonal rain, the weather was perfectly cold with mist covering the forest floor every morning.

The resort is located on the hilltop and its Valley View rooms offer a 180 degree panoramic view of the valley below and the hills in the distance. Sit the entire day in the balcony, sip your favourite brew and just take in the views. That's what we did.

Combined with the stellar views, were the friendly and helpful resort staff. From the Housecleaning crew, the kitchen & restaurant staff, the security guard and the in-house naturalist, guide and co-ordinator, Lohith. Infact, Lohith helped us in more ways than one including arranging transportation to the near by towns, Madikeri and to Bengaluru. He also provided us with food recommendations outside the resort.
We also arm-twisted the chef on the property to cook a few local delicacies, he gladly obliged.

Porcupine Castle is a few kms from Polibetta Town, so if you are brave enough, it makes for a pleasant morning walk.

Madikeri is around 45 kms away. And when in Madkeri, do not forget to grab a meal at the Coorg Cuisine restaurant, located opposite Madikeri Fort, for some delicious local, home cooked food. Don't miss the Pandi Curry for sure. (Pandi Curry = Pork Curry)

Because of the geographic spread of the resort, house cleaning and room service takes a bit of time, especially if the resort is booked out.

Also, because of the green cover, you will have a lot of insects, lizards, spiders making themselves comfortable in your room. Best to keep the room doors closed at all time.

Because of its location, you might see a need for your own vehicle, especially if you wish to explore the surrounding areas. As mentioned earlier, Madikeri is around 45 Kms away. Abbi Falls (a glorious waterfall) is around an additional 10 kms from Madikeri. Nagarhole Tiger Reserve (currently o safaris) and Dubare Elephant Reserve are around 30Kms away.

Overall, Porcupine Castle was a great short stay. Would I return? Yes, definitely, someday soon.

I came across this property after the lockdown was lifted in Bangalore and when I was looking for a safe staycation resort.

The property is perched on top of one of the tallest hills in Coorg around a Coffee plantation. The biggest highlight of the property was the staff, they were so friendly, yet giving us enough private space.

Food was delicious and was served in our room and they always took extra care to customise the dishes to our liking.

All staff follow the enire Covid protocol to the T and do their best to sanitise the place from time to time.

We stayed in the Mountain view room and I almost spent my entire stay in the balcony. The view is spectacular, peaceful and serene..

All in all I enjoyed this short getaway with my family.

I would recommend this place and would go back when I get a chance again.

Last but not least, I wanted to give a big shout out to Lohith, Gagan from reception, Nandu from House keeping and Promod from the kitchen for going out of their way to make out experience a pleasurable and memorable one :)

Stayed at porcupine on 22nd aug 2020.

The place is nestled on an elevation and offers grand views of the coffee plantations as well as the lush forest around. The upkeep of the place was top notch and the staff very friendly.

Service was very prompt and courteous. While i generally dont register the quality of food that I eat. The food here was not bad and i quite liked it infact.

Lohith is a warm and friendly manager, who makes his guests comfortable and is very hospitable. The rooms were well appointed with no fuss and everything worked just fine. The bed is extra comfy and helped me have a refreshing sleep after a long bike ride from bangalore. There was no smell of moss on the walls or in the room that u generally get in resorts that are in middle of rain forests during rainy season.

All in all, it was a great place to rest my tired self, even though the booking and stay were totally impromptu.

Recommend it 10/10 times.

Thanks team porcupine

Do not serve eggs for breakfast, they charge 20% extra for room service, mountain view and valley view rooms have almost the same view, if it rains water seepage happens, there are a lot of properties nearby with similar rates but much better service. Toiletries also are not provided adequately.

However the house keeping staff and waiters are well mannered.

Experience right from booking the resort till we checked out is exceptional.

Booking: I was contacted by Margli from the local office in Bangalore, providing details of the resort, facilities and precautions taken due to the current situation. Even was given the best route to drive down :-)

Location: The location of the resort is amazing, its amidst a large coffee plantation with beautiful views of the mountains on one side and deep valley on the other.

Reception & Staff: The people at this place are warm and extended all help required for a pleasant stay. Few names to call out, Lohit the manager and caretaker of the resort who took us for the plantation walk knows this place at the back of his hand. Bopanna, Tirtheesh, Akhil and others to add too.

Food: Chef Medappa churned out excellent dishes all around, kids had a blast with the variety of stuff served.

Hygiene: I want to mention about the cleanliness and hygiene considering the Covid situation, the cottages were well maintained and cleaned.

Overall the stay was refreshing and would recommend others to visit, I am planning for another stay with my extended family soon.

This was one of our best trips ever!

I want to thank Mr. Elayaraja (GM of the property) and his wonderful team for making our stay really memorable - very polite, hospitable and helpful.

The property is superb and very comfortable. The scenic forest location and the mounrain views that you get to enjoy in this property is unparalleled. Quite surreal.

The highlight of this property is that it has 2 tree houses perched on a large tree. We took both and were nested there like birds having a top view of the mountains and valleys below.

Other attractions are the rooms that are lined up in the slopes of the mountain... making it quite adventurous and out of the fairy tale sorts.

There is also a room at ground level with no slopes where I could perch my senior citizen parents.

All the rooms are pretty large and well furnished with more than good quality of consumables, toiletries, furniture, batheries and other star level comforts.

The stay includes nature walks in the mornings guided by a naturalist and bonfires in the evening with games and loads of fun conducted by an event manager. It also has a beautiful infinity pool, a gym and a club with indoor games. The food quality was excellent in spite of the difficulty to get ingredients at that altitude.

As I was travelling with my family of 6 including my senior citizen parents, I was a bit worried about the stay. But the property's amenities and the team's hospitality was so good. They helped my mother, who is hard of walking, in many of her chores. Big respect for the team specifically for this. Mani. Hariharan, Gopal, Gautham and Jerry make a great team together - very polite and patient.

I have to mention about the naturalist here, Mr. Ravi. He is extremely knowledgeable about the mountains, the trees, animals and all about the surroundings. He took us out for trekking and showed us all varieties of plants, insects and trees. He explained his vast experience of managing various animal attacks. He also is a great event manager who kept us completely entertained in the bonfire nights.

Overall, this was a life time experience for us and more specifically for my parents.

I would strongly recommend this property to anyone who loves to be pampered by nature and the forests, forgetting city life and getting far far away from the madding crowd - served by a lovely and hospitable team.

Staff are so courteous and friendly, readily available over phone for anything needed rounded the clock. Rooms are well maintained and almost all rooms were full, people just kept pouring on all 3 days that I saw.
