Lets start from the booking part. I booked Pollibetta bungalow through their website and the availability of the various properties within Plantation trails keeps changing from session to session ! Somehow managed through the booking and there was a special discount rate (which itself was exorbitant) excluding GST ! My intention was to book Thannerhulla bungalow but showed not available. Once we reached the property, we were welcomed by Paul, and he showed us the way to to our room. To my surprise, I was not enthralled with the first impression of the room ! My findings, 1. Lack luster interiors 2. Dull sofa chairs, bed, window curtains 3. No bed lamps, no ambient lighting 4. Stained flooring inside bathroom 5. No bucket and mug for bathing, very old shower set up ! Somehow, I didn't find the charm a British bungalow room should have, as compared to other places that I have visited. To name a few, Sinnadorais bungalow in Valparai, Nilgiris and Chickmagalur Woodbriar estates Waterfall estate Devashola estate Somehow I lost the feeling of being in a estate bungalow room because of lack of charm. Although the bungalow itself is spacious, with vintage furniture and artifacts and great collection of books, the non elegance of the room let me down ! Coming to food, taste differs and I don't want to comment about that. However, I feel the variety and add-on can be improved. Ex. Fruit salads, dessert, sweets etc. The reason I say add-on is because, the cost of food per meal is Rs. 600 (excluding GST) ! This cost is comparable to a sumptuous buffet meal in a four star/five star hotel I really find the price of food very very expensive for its variety ! To add to this, if you order additional snacks coffee for the evening, the quality of the same is no where comparable with the price that they charge. We ordered pakodas and French fries, but it was horrible according to me ! Coming to facilities, that this place can offer for recreation/for kids, its a BIG ZERO. No bicycles, indoor games like, carrom, chess, fussball, no badminton, tennis ball, bat, recreation area for kids, NOT EVEN A SWING ! It does not offer you good views of the estate either, you are not allowed to go outside the property for a walk, and you have nothing to do inside ! Can you believe that a so called premium property like TATA Plantation does give reasons for Wifi connectivity ! Yes, against what was promised in the website, there was no Wifi and the reason they gave was of previous day's thunderstorm ! However, I saw their phone lines, card readers, routers and modems working ! We had a good time spent in the golf course/play ground opposite to the TATA plantation main gate and kids enjoyed a lot thanks to the playing artifacts like bat and ball, golf kit etc, that we had got with us ! Our Plantation safari was delayed the next day, and we had to wait till 11.30 AM for the safari jeep to arrive. I felt this tour gave us a good feel inside the property. Thanks to Mr. Uday for the bird watching and plantation safari. He explained our questions and was very hospitable. Overall, I would say the stay was not worth the price that was charged to us ! Rather, I regret coming to this property as compared to choosing any other place ! Personally, I would not recommend you to this place for stay given the pricing and the facilities offered. Please chose another place for stay where you can stay in a resort with a individual cottage inside the tea/coffee estate TATA Plantation trails require a great amount of bench marking and improvisation of best practices and improvements from other peer operators in the segment. Or reduce the price to half of what you charge currently ! I hope the management is listening !…
We stayed at Pollibetta plantation trails banglow. The bungalow is well preserved, well maintained and well run. A very courteous team took great care of us through our stay and we got to enjoy local coorg cuisine as well. The coffee plantation round was also a great experience.
Pollibetta cottage is a heritage property in the middle of coffee estate. Getting there could be a task as roads are bad. Once there the view is fab and rooms are lovely. Pandhi curry and rice is a must try. Good holiday destination and experience!
With the plantation bungalows scattered over the undulating highlands of Coorg (Pollibetta to be exact) each bungalow has a distinct charm to it. Having once been occupied by the colonial planter, these heritage bungalows offer vacationers a first-hand opportunity to experience the planter's way of life. I stayed at the Cottabetta bungalow. This bungalow is the best if one is bothered about a great view. If one is interested in exquisite classical furniture & et al, then one should stay at Thaneerhulla Bungalow situated couple of kilometres away from Cottabetta bungalow. The service is superb! Each bungalow has its own staff taking care of the guests. We were lucky to have the entire bungalow to ourselves since no other guests were there. Even otherwise, the bungalows have 4-5 rooms & hence will not be crowded like Orange County, Tamara etc. One must do the morning nature walk in the adjoining golf course. Many species of exotic birds can be sighted. Coorg is home to more than 300 species of exotic birds! All in all, a memorable stay!…
Beautiful colonial bungalow! Indulgent staff! Best payback I unexpectedly received was from my 8yr old son's repeated statement -thank you for a beautiful holiday, it was different! A must visit place. Can try your hand at golf with a trainer and also indulge in bird watching. Children play activity room missing though he njoyed carom, kicking the football at the porch and watching movies! yes, carry your laptop with sufficient movies downloaded/DVD's.
