Home stay location was very good but hosts were stubborn. They charge for everything. Breakfast was terrible, not worth paying 95 bucks. Severed charred food for breakfast, and asked us to manage with that. But after denied served DOSA which was ok with limited chettini. Dinner was good.

Please avoid this home stay....
Only liked is nature surrounding to this home stay.

We stayed here on a long weekend getaway in july.
To be honest this is not a "homestay" as claimed. This is more of a rundown resort. The location is pretty secluded- off the very narrow and lush Haroor road.

We had booked all the 4 rooms, so we were on our own. The isolation is great, but can be unnerving at night as there is no proper security and there are frequent power cuts in the area. We were a large group, so this was not a big problem. But I wont be coming here if I were visiting with kids.

The caretakers are greedy and dont hesitate to switch off the generator at the earliest.

The rooms were OK. Basic furnishings and hot water in the bathroom. A basic TV with a basic cable connection. Anyways who wants to watch TV on vacation.

The thing that was really lacking was the service. They served morning tea and coffee which were sub standard. Also, we did not realise that they were charging exorbitant rates for such poor tea/coffee.The breakfast is way below expectations as well.

We requested for bonfire one night and some starters to go with it (both at an extra cost). The starters were horrible. Strongly advise against this. Also, we had to order dinner in the resort itself. Not only, we had to order the dinner in the morning itself, it was very basic and pricey at the same time. But, we didnt have any other option as there are no places to eat in the surrounding areas.

The resort is set in a beautiful locale (see pics). However, the lack of service and the attitude of the owners left a bad aftertaste.

Unpleasant Day on Frost Flower , Coorge
We reached the forest flower around 2 PM on Friday to celebrate my wedding anniversary with our friend & family for Bangalore. ...Other than location nothing is good...poor hospitality and the owner is horrible...
She is money mind guy and he charges extra at last….. Manager is friendly man

This lady is greedy and very very very rude. She forced to vacate before 10 AM
They feel like they are doing free for us and favour. Please who ever I have planned to stay don't even think of it. This is not at all for family.
We are planned for 3 days, but vacated first day itself that much horrible stay, because of the poor service and room condition.

No electricity on night after 10 PM (running with generator for 1 hr with horrible noise)
No room service..
No TV remote….
Bead sheet is not clean

Regards,

VIJAYAN

We stayed in the Forest Flower Homestay during  Last weekend of June 2022 in Woodrose Cottage (The premium one). Our stay here was simply awesome. All Thanks to Mr. Sathish.
As the tagline suggests it’s really "A Perfect Getaway" from the regular work schedule and the traffic woes to take a break and stay in such wonderful cottage amidst the greens.
Please don't come here with a mindset of a Resort/Hotel, this is purely a homestay where you will experience nature’s beauty and homely hospitality.
We stayed in the Woodrose cottage for 2 days, we really enjoyed our stay here. Early morning you wake up to the sound of chirping birds and when you step out of the room, you see lush greenery with all the fog around. You would be served with hot coffee which you can sit outside in the nature and sip it slowly. To tell a few things about the cottage room, they give you that vintage touch for the interiors, the Royal Queen bed feels comfortable, the mirror looks elegant and overall the room is very spacious and also the bathroom is neat and clean.

The food prepared here is very homely which is prepared by the owner's wife and mostly their local dishes are served, which you cannot get in any hotel/resort. Breakfast is complimentary and lunch is not served as mostly we shall be outside the homestay. Evening snacks and dinner is served for which prior notice is required since they need to prepare it in their bungalow and serve it.
Also the food is served in a common dining area which has its own advantage of sitting together with the other families and getting to know them if you'd wish too. We happened to get to know about a lovely couple who was from Bangalore itself. We did plan and visit one of the place nearby with them.
Network is kind of weak here, we had tried both Airtel and Jio, in a way that’s good when you are amidst the nature and when you have decided to get away from the monotonous routine. They do provide Wi-fi at the common dining area if you’d wish to use. Also they have their homegrown coffee beans powder and wine which they prepare at their bungalow, so that also is available for purchase. We picked the coffee powder and it’s simply super tasty. And the other couple loved the wine here and they took few bottles.

Be humble and kind with the people around and they will also treat you with the same manner. We got going so well with Mr. Sathish that he only helped us with some part of our itinerary and all the places that we can see around. Of all the places that he suggested, we loved this surprising Waterfalls that he told us about named the “Haleri Waterfalls” which was around 2kms from the homestay. We visited this falls early in the morning and it was a peaceful place with no crowd around. Water was not very gushy, and we were able to get down in this falls and play for some time. We spent some good time sitting and chatting.

Finally to mention this homestay is at wonderful location amidst the jungle and we would definitely visit again if we get a chance and We would recommend this place for others too.

I booked this room after visiting the website of forest flower. Immediately after booking my wife checked reviews and we decided not to go there. But my Rs 2K was struck up as advance. When I asked the money back, owner was making excuses for 5 days. Finally I cooked a story that my friend will be visiting Coorg so he will collect the money. Owner agreed and we took a left turn on NH 88 to Forest Flower. To my horror, it is not at all a place for Family stay. It is deep inside the forest with almost no contact to outside world. Some people might find it adventurous, but just imagine, if there is nobody to help you out and there is a power cut or any medical urgency. There is no mobile network there.

We reached homestay and there was a big lock on the gate. This means that nobody was staying there. I was really thankful to my wife and god that I have not booked this place. It looked like a haunted house. Not a single attendant was there.Anyway we went to the owner's house(which is 500 mts away from the Homestay)and whatever we had read about the behavior of owner's were 100% true. They were really rude and unfriendly. Lady owner made us to sit for 20 mins to give our money back after noting down all details and undertaking. Somehow I got my money back and moved out of the place asap.

Never ever go to such place where you will be on the mercy of owners and these people were really really bad...please avoid

I'm from America, and this is the truest review you will read for this place. First of all coorg people are really nice but not this couple. The food was leftovers from the night before. How can the family think that they can give us the same food that was served for dinner, for breakfast. Tje butter was rotten and smelling. Im a doctor and im not going to let my toddler get sick off of food. Another thing A dog was on the property and he broke a plate after we slept and we were charged 250 for it. When I asked the owner how that's my responsibility he said I don't care and don't make scene while paying. He also said there was no dog and i had to describe the dog to him. When I tried to ask him about the breakfast his wife shouted and told me eat whatever is served. I had my 5yr old with us, and he eats zero spice. I told them I need food for him that was non spicy, the wife who cooked the food didn't do anything for him and he slept eating bananas. I felt so bad. It's not like I'm staying for free, I payed for this, everything was charged for including water and coffee. If they could charge for air they would have. There were no towels, no soaps absolutely nothing. There are no activities and no contact with anyone you are on your own. Even if something horrible happened there's no one to call out for. being rude to your guests is unacceptable. I said what I had to about this place. I love India and all my trips have been great, I've stayed in expensive places and cheap inns too. This by far is the worst experience I have ever had with any hotel. I give it 0 stars and with the bottom of my heart hope no one has experience like this. I strongly suggest not going here. I love coorg but this couple are the worst kind of people I have come across. These people don't deserve to be called coorgis. Because coorg folks are the nicest people in the world.

We visited the place a few months back, 2 adults, 2 seniors and 1 infant. It was supposed to be a homestay, but we were fooled, neither was it a home, nor did we complete our stay.
Technically, it is to be called a resort, but make no mistake, this property is just not worth a stay in any category.

We booked this place on phone with the owner, on direct recommendation of a family friend, which turned out to be extremely sour.

Property is close to Madikeri, a few kilometres before entering the town, a few kilometres away from the main road. Signage is okay.
A few rooms on the ground floor, a few above. All are in the midst of a coffee plantation.
Rooms are untidy, bathrooms are useable.
Food is bad, no taste, no choice, cold.
The view from the rooms is coffee plants, but gets boring after a few minutes.
Absolutely no activities to do. No nearby sightseeing spots.

The owner's house is not far away while they seem very disinterested.
A caretaker family is in the resort, who takes care of literally everything. The male carries luggage and food, the wife prepares food. They have no sense of service or hospitality whatsoever.

Place is totally infant-unfriendly. Our baby was up whole night.
Doors don't close fully. Windows are creaky. Roof was leaking. The night made the rooms a mini-zoo! Flies, insects had a jolly time. Turning on the lights invited even more creatures.

We got the rooms dusted and mopped twice before checking in and yet were unhappy.
Beds, mattresses, towels avoidable.
Electricity not assured. Backup power not reliable.
Shortage of charging points.
No mobile networks, TV, internet.

We managed to spend the night alive and were scared to death on the morning sight - a snake skin on the roof of the room! But not entirely surprising, finding so many animals like lizards and what not inside the room, the snake probably was looking for its meal.

We wasted no time in checking out in the morning. Complaints to the caretaker fell on deaf ears.
When we raised the voice, the owner finally decided to drop in and took us to task for complaining! His point was simple - they didn't attack or harm our ladies, or force us to choose to stay there. We shouldn't crib so much about a resort in the forest, and rather get used to nature!

The less said the better about the food.

I don't want to give 1 star also. Hope I would have read the reviews here first and planned the trip, but saw the reviews after coming back.... :-(

Had a horrible experience with my family. I have been to lot of places and this is the worst homestay that I have visited. Worst hospitality. Both husband and wife (owners) behave like they are providing it for free. Very rude people, money minded people. Lady will behave like she has done great favour for us by preparing the food and all. Food quality was very bad, they charge for each and everything. Asked us to adjust the food which they provided. Too expensive homestay. The guy keeps on telling on the amount that he spent on starters and all, argued with us lot when we told that he charged us unnecessarily.

If you want to take revenge on someone, send them to this place. They will have their holiday ruined for sure. Once you enter the homestay, nobody will be there to ask you. They will provide the food when they feel.

Only the location was good. We Experienced very bad hospitality. Owner of the home stay was very rude. They charged extra for each and everything. For small cup of milk they charged 20 rupees (that's not the milk, only hot water). My suggestion don't go to this home stay.

There is nothing called customer service or good food. Cheap Food are brought from outside, and served here saying it was cooked at home and they charge us more. Owner is money minded. He charges for everything. even a single call from mobile costs 10 rs since only bsnl network is there. Complementary breakfast was pathetic. Place is not that good as we see in pictures. No activities. No games. Nothing good about this place.
