Easy drive from Bangalore. Good roads. We did door to door in 5 hrs with a short fuel refill break.
If you are a nature enthusiast and love birds. animals. star gazing. nature walks, estate walks, adventure then you must visit this place.
The family who run this are absolutely adorable and take personal care to make you feel welcome and comfortable. They serve awesome Coorgi cuisine for both veg and non-veg. The bonfire and barbeque are fun with so many stories to hear about the Kodava culture and other local things from Mr Chimma
There is no internet and power at the premises as that is their USP. But both are available nearby if there is any emergency.
They have large open space to play outdoor games and do team building activities. Can easily accommodate 20-25 people. Have options of cottages and tents.
The place is absolutely pristine in lap of nature at the foothills near Irpu falls. The mountains run down to their estate plantations and the stay area. They have a crystal clear stream that originates as a fall and runs through their property. You actually need to drive through the water to enter the place.
The 10+acres of open space surrounded by coffee, pepper, cardamom, supari, various spices in plantations. The varieties of birds you get to see and hear is an experience.
It is a soul rejuvenating place to be in.
Look forward to visit again!

Just came back from 2 days visit to pachelbale. It was mesmerizing. Never in our life we felt so much satisfaction and a sense of belonging. It was like home coming. The place is simple- meant for exploring nature. Staffs are very understanding and sincere. The hosts - thimmayya and his two sons are the soul of this venture. Food is simple authentic and tasty. Ambience is out of the world. We did plantation tour, river walk. Could not visit waterfalls as we felt it is tough. Absence of electricity and Mobile connectivity is a bliss. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and plan to visit this place again.

We were a group of 8 adults and 2 children ( aged 7 and 8 years)and an infant ( 1 yr). We set forth with a lot of expectation as was always expected of any home stay in coorg. We had set our mind to have a relaxed and quite time here. What unfolded was a series of horrible experience.
We kept in touch with the owner Chimma and on his insistence we even deposited money as advance into his account . On the day of the travel it was chaos as the owners phone was unreachable most of the time . Finally when he actually came on line and called us he promised us that somebody will be standing at a pre designated place with a board to guide us to this home stay. The drive itself was long and when and when we finally reached the place there was nobody to receive us or to guide us to this home stay. We asked a few localites and somehow tried to reach the owners place. The drive on those narrow roads for three cars with none to guide was really taxing and stressfull. Finally we retraced our steps to the predesignated place and tried calling him again .. after repeated attempts he called us back and told us directions to reach his place . We found a person who was heading that way and told her to guide us to this home stay. We were finally on our way.
About 1/2 a km into the drive we say the roads were really bad. We had travelled in a Scorpio , a Duster and a brand new honda city. The scorpio and the duster managed to cross but the honda city took a beating . Huge stones blocked the way and the car with its low chassis slipped and one wheel went into a ditch . Again with the help of local people we lifted it up and finally at about 5 pm we reached this place. When we asked the owner why he did not mention about the bad road as we could have hired a jeep , he just simply kept saying its only 100 meters right?? Since it was the beginning of the holiday we did not want to rake a fight and had our lunch . Finally we settled in and pitched our own tents . He had promised us that he would pitch his tents but there was none in sight .
The next day he said he would take us to a bird walk . When we finally got ready he said he had to go to town to pick some provisions and that we should enjoy in the check dam . The check dam had brackish water and was very very dirty . The owner when we booked the place had told us that there was a beautiful check dam with clean and fresh water but when we saw this it was black and dirty.
He also promised us a good spread of food items with fruits . The fruits were kept only the first time and dissapeared from the menu thereafter. Simple food was repeated for the entire duration of our stay .
The owner took us to a river trek . As mentioned earlier we had an infant and inspite of repeatedly asking him if it was safe he insisted that all was ok and took us on a water bed ( half dry and half wet ) route . The area if full of leach and very soon all the members in the group were screaming and shouting as the leach had clung onto our legs in huge numbers . We had a great difficulty to take the child on this route and kept telling him to take us back . Finally we ended at a small puddle of water and a small water fall ( almost like a big water tap ) nd he said we could relax there. We insisted that we come back and shouted at him for bringing us on this treacherous route .
Finally when we had to pay our bill he quietly overcharged us Rs 4000/- . It was very expensive with 2000 for adults and some other bills he trust on us . We realised that we had been overcharged and promptly called him back upon reaching bangalore. He first insisted that he had not cheated us but later accepted that he had cheated us and finally told us that he would clear it and pay us online . After a few days he again called us and gave us another story that he had not charged us for a lunch and said that the account was ok .
No bills were given at all . We paid 39500/- and no bill was given to us at all. This guy is a cheat and one must be careful dealing with him . We have been victims and nobody should go through what we went through .
Hope this email does sound as a warning to people going to this place and dissuade them from going there.

This is a pretty long review - read it if you are really interested to find out about this place. Plan to spend about 5 minutes here.
We were 3 - me, wife & 3 yr old kid. This place is extremely remote. No electricity, No mobile - forget Wi-fi / Internet. For some this is bliss, for others this is an issue. Be prepared for a rural tourism type stay, with nearest doctor being about 10 kms or 1+ Hrs away. Go prepared with your medicines like cetrizine, avil, disprin etc. The place has a decent sized stream and a private waterfall. Ideal for those who don't mind the leeches. We did not go up to the fall as we had the kid & only 2 of us. This place gets a bit lonely if you are just a couple - it will be fun if there is a group of about 4-6 folks. Majority of cooking is on firewood - which gives the food it's taste, they do not use oil or minimal oil. Pure rural type atmosphere with cows on the fields, smoke billowing out of the kitchen and a lot of local birds around like Drongos, King fishers, Hornbills etc. Your car cannot reach the place, it gets parked about 5 Kms before the stay @ the Owners house. Thereon, you are in his Jeep that goes thru some real tough terrain. We went there after a cloudburst, and I was thankful that I left my car as advised. The jeep traverses into the western ghats, thru thick coffee plantations, slushy muddy slippery road, a river - enough to give you a slip disc if you are not holding on tightly... A Xuv500 type vehicle might be able to pull it thru on a dry day - but on a rainy day - I would advise to take his Jeep. There will be one dedicated cook, and that increases depending on the # of people. Since the place is very remote, do NOT expect room service on call, or microwave. If required, he will pitch tents for you to sleep under the stars - next to the stream. Be aware that there were 4 guard dogs, only 2 are left - reason? - dogs natural predator. Only kerosene lanterns and LED battery powered lanterns are your source of light - along with fireflies :)
Place is very good, and given its remoteness, services offered are good for the price. You will be the only human settlements in a approx 5 Km radius in the middle of protected ghat forests. That should explain things. All we could see/hear was mist, mountains, sound of water, rain, absolute silence, crickets, birds chirping away & the full moon rise behind the hills. see photos I've put up along with this review.
Rooms were neat, although, I would recommend you carry your own set of bedsheets/blankets if you are a cleanliness freak. There are 2 rooms next to each other. each room can acco 3 adults on 3 beds. Hot water is available with the boiler being set by burning wood by 7 AM.
There is a swing on a tree and a few chopped blocks put for sitting / lazing around. No Hammock.
I did see a snake (looked like a rat snake) in the stream - snakes are shy creatures - don't disturb them - they will eventually go away.
Was very careful / cautious to take kid to the stream; once you check the place out thoroughly, it should not be a cause of worry. Just be around the kids when they are playing.
I would advise against alcohol abuse here - since the docs are not immediately available in case of an emergency & you don't want to be stoned while others are having a good time. Lots of Ants & insects - so ensure you lock your suitcases, bags upon each use. Don't leave biscuits/ bread crumbs etc behind - it will be your fault. Be responsible when you visit this place - it takes a lot of effort to maintain such remote places - appreciate it. We took back whatever plastic wrappers etc. we could to dispose them off at the town.
The Drive to the place (till where my car reaches) was no hassle - google map for it and you are done. Mr. Chimma (The owner) was available at a road split point and he ensured we followed him thru till his home. We were in constant touch - no issues. Avoid cars that have a smooth suspension like City, Civic - it will get scrubbed a bit- don't worry - but just letting you know.
Overall - a satisfying, de-toxing, de-stressing stay - we missed having a couple friend with us - it would have let off the boredom go away - since we were there for 2 nights & 3 days. Ideal if there is a group of 4-5 folks. anything more than 6 - will put a stress on the resources. The food does get repetitive if you do not provide options and are staying for a longer duration (2+ nights) - so - do talk to them and let them know if you need anything specific - it needs to be sourced - and that takes time (>8 Hrs). Remember, there is firewood + bonfire - so smoke around you while you eat/ drink / socialize - asthmatics - make a note - carry whatever you have to. On a clear day (or when there is a gap in the clouds for over 10-15 minutes during noon), Sun comes down pretty harsh - I & Kid have sun burn - be prepared.
If you are looking for room service, beer, tandoori food on call, comfort, AC, TV - this is not the place for you. you need to belong to a different cadre of traveler to like this place.
I drove from Bangalore to Mysore - Nagarhole, Kutta and to his place.
Hope this helps!

It's been more than 3 weeks we have visited this place but still i have been talking to all about the memory which i carried for life. We were a group of 4 friends who wanted to adventure into some wild life trekking and that's when someone suggested about this place. Even though I have visited Coorg many times it has still been one of my favorite places in India for a holiday. After visiting a place many times you will definitely develop some basic expectations, so we all planned having the same. While driving to this place I had no Idea that i will be ending up reaching Heaven. This is something like what you see in paintings or some photoshop work where you see a small cottage surrounded by mountains, overseeing a fountain and next to a river. I know its hard to believe but its true. We were awestruck to believe what we were seeing. It's heaven by real mean. After reaching we were greeted by Mr. Chimma(owner of the property). I have never met someone so gentle and humble and a super host like him. He is much much beyond any managers of top 5 star hotels. Now the surprises started, Mr. Chimma took us for river trekking, which i never experienced going through a river till its inception to the top of the mountain. It was amazing to feel the most natural water. we could taste the sweetness of the water and its pure and clean. We enjoyed the release water (you have to experience it). then i did try swimming for first time. Then he took us for a wild tour where he explained the various types of wild fruits and plants available and their benefits. The best part is the night safari. Its like a deep inside the jungle in dark mid night is a different thrill, early morning trekking was a different experience. Food is naturally prepared with organic elements. It's must visit place for a holiday.

Pachibale homestay has been our favorite retreat every time we seek peace & quiet. The fact that this place is cut off (accessible only thru a 4x4 from the hosts' house) makes it the place where you want to escape into in order to get away from the daily humdrum. Our host Mr. Chimma and his family welcome you into their abode with a warmth that only reflects the famed Coorg hospitality. The cottages are neat, clean sheets, warm blankets, good cupboards, clean washrooms, hot & cold water, and wonderful view from the cottages. If you want to just rough it out, ask in advance for tented accommodation. Where else can you sleep under the stars with the sound of crickets and a gushing stream? We went for a great trek by the stream which surrounds the property, ending it with a shower under a waterfall - forget any city spa or jacuzzi. For the less adventurous, you can just laze on the rocks or dangle your feet into the water, only to get a free fish pedicure. Chimma's energy and enthusiasm is infectious! Coming to the food - something we all take back as memories, it was delicious & AUTHENTIC COORG! This is their USP, as the hosts have deliberately offered the experience of the land. For the health conscious, it's a treat as they dish out organically grown rice, veggies and meat from their own farms. A glimpse of the menu would be chicken bbq, coorg pork curries, an assortment of dishes with rice, greens & legumes - all grown in the farm! The best part of the entire experience is that there is no electricity or plug points to keep you hooked! So if you want to work on a presentation for your boss, get on a con call or want to speak for hours on the phone, just forget about coming here! The whole idea is to go back to the 'real' life! Or better still bring your team here for a team building session. Whether you are a family, a singleton, or group of friends looking for the PERFECT getaway to unwind, this is the place. You also have plenty of trekking trails and an amazing roller coaster of a ride in the jeep. A perfect way to unwind, connect with the nature and re-boot for the madness that awaits in the urban life! Plan now, before they get booked out for the next long weekend.

Felt like we were in the Nature's lap. 1 and a Half days disconnected from all the noice, traffic and all tension. Nice little stream flowing in the cottage, where tiny fishes are ready to pamper you with the fish spa.
Chirping sounds of Birds makes you feel in a different world altogether.
Food is the best part, tastiest food I have ever tasted outside house.

Worth spending our time in the midst of nature. You are surrounded by greenery everywhere and if go for a trek take some precautions as there are lot of Leeches around. Its very nice place to Laze around and enjoy the nature. You can indulge in some activities as well like playing Volleyball/Football. Food was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Accommodation was also good. There is no electricity but you will be accompanied with lamps in the rooms. Overall its a nice place to laze around and have fun. We were 6 of us (friends) and we enjoyed our stay here and the hospitality.
