This hotel is great, the food is good, the owner is a great persona and the landscape incredible. I've traveled there once a year for the past 20 years, I love to go there. It's a peaceful place to rest, not crowded and quiet. I recommend you to ask the owner to cook Paella for you, you will love it!...

The cabins are rustic but nice. Everything was as expected. A great place to rest and really disconnect from the busy city life. Mompiche is definitely one of the nicest beaches in Ecuador, and this spot sets you in it's middle with nothing around. If you are looking for a place to read a good book and enjoy great food,...

We absolutely loved our few nights here. The owner, Teresa, is really laid back, friendly and helpful. We arrived before breakfast time but she arranged some coffee for us, which after our long journey was highly appreciated. The food is incredible. Breakfast is a basket of bread, thermos of fresh coffee, homemade jam and juice, a plate of mixed fruit,...

We spent three nights and absolutely loved it. It was the best place we stayed at in Ecuador and I highly recommend staying there if you want to get away from it all. The hotel is also know as Hotel Iruna (as written in Lonely Planet). She has 4 stand alone cabanas and 1 large cabana right on the beach...

My wife and our 7 years old son had a great time in this place. Teresa is very attentive to her guest's needs. She treats you as if she is your grandmother. This place is very homey. Teresa is an excellent cook. Rooms are very basic and are reasonably clean. Do not expect a luxury hotel with 4 stars amenities....

In june 2012 we stayed 3 nights in Las Pigualas, and so far it has been the most charming stay we experienced at the Ecuadorian coast. If you enjoy complete tranquillity and a deserted beach with palm trees, this place is unique! When you arrive, you have to check the tides, because the place is only accessible during low tides:...

enjoying the deserted Mompiche beaches, exploring nearby mangrove forests, staying in comfy cabins in a beautiful and secluded place very close to the sea. Theresa is a very friendly hostess and excellent cook, running a cozy and stylish restaurant for guests only. Access via the beach only !

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"The sea and the beach naturally in a special place." Cabañas Iruña / Las Pigualas is a complex of rustic but comfortable cabins in perfect balance with nature. Located directly on the beach and far enough from the village of Mompiche. It's lovely to access it only by the beach, either on foot or by car with due respect for tide times. A magnificent, wild beach where you can walk through 2 kms on Both Sides. The food deserves a special chapter. Teresa's hands, its owner, produce homemade delicacies worthy of the best restaurant. Wonderful "cuisine". I could taste an exquisite "carpaccio" also prawns in coconut sauce, fish and a delicious passion fruit mousse. Very good breakfasts with delicious homemade breads and sweets. Is a fantastic blend enjoy these delicious things in a rough and rustic setting. And a plus, excellent music. ... more   less

“We stayed in cabin 6 which has a double bed and a single, an outdoor hammock, two comfy semi-reclining seats and a small table, and is a few metres from the ocean. Recommended.”
