Amazing is an adjective that falls short of the experience that we had at Hemanth's place, Green Pastures. Located amidst the green thickets of Somwarpet, this stay is your perfect getaway to fulfill your quest for peace and solace. This was my first time to Coorg and to be honest initially I wasn't too keen considering what I had heard from my family about Coorg, who had earlier stayed at Madikere. When we decided on a one day weekend trip to Coorg I randomly selected Green Pastures via Airbnb. Thank good heavens that I made this choice! The drive was smooth, and right from the start Hemanth cooperated, helping us with the route to the location and the choice of meal we would prefer. We were a family of 9 and had booked 3 rooms. We managed to avoid the busy areas of Coorg and made our way through the winding hilly roads covered in green. There was comfortable parking space for 2 Balenos and of course there is more parking space available in the property. It was evident that the stay would be great right as soon as we entered the premises. Hemanth was there to give us a very warm welcome. Coming to the setup, all the three rooms had good space. Each room had a king bed and an additional single bed, a cupboard and a television. The bathroom was super clean with a very natural lighting system that impressed us all. The choice of furniture and design was aesthetically beautiful. There was wifi available but our Airtel connection worked very well so we didn't require it. In fact I attended a meeting with my Airtel connection and it went smooth. Hemanth and his wife were very polite, warm and attentive to our needs. My family had a lovely time interacting with them and learning about Coorg and the vicinity. We had some good quality coffee throughout our stay which was straight from their coffee plantation and we bought some too (must buy). The lunch and dinner were cooked in house by Hemanth's wife herself. My parents being very wary of eating outside was able to eat to their heart's content. Lip-smacking home made food, followed by more coffee. :) Considering food is an integral part for my family the privilege to eat such well cooked courses, both veg and non-veg, with a huge spread made it an A grade experience. What followed after this was a visit to a sunset point about 3-4 mins (by car) from Green Pastures. This suggestion was made by the hosts and it was paradise. A point definitely not to be missed at any cost. I might be sounding overtly positive to the reader but it is only when you visit this place that you will be able to totally agree with me. The atmosphere at Green Pastures was so warm and tranquil that we didn't feel the need to venture out too much. Now here comes the icing on the cake. We generally carry our guitar for such road trips but unfortunately we had forgotten it home this time. Taking our chance and hoping against hope we asked Hemanth if they would be able to arrange a guitar. Much to our surprise he made an arrangement. Although one of the E string was missing we were able to it manage with it. Very thankful for this because without it our trip wouldn't be complete. We are a family of musicians and without our usual accompaniment it would be incomplete. So thank you Hemanth! Our evening was one we will have indelibly etched in our memories. The hosts made an arrangement of a camp fire. With some great snacks (home cooked again), liquor and beverages our evening was drowned in music and merriment. The best part was when we started singing the power went off and there we were under a sky dotted with sparkling stars, towering trees and fireflies punctuating the darkness. It was bliss. Ofcourse one can say it was because we were with our loved ones but I believe it had a lot to do with the comfort and the care that the hosts laid down for us. The morning was beautiful and the breakfast spread was satiating and excellent. We wished we could stay longer but we ended the trip with another round of coffee. The checkout process was smooth too. We left behind a bundle of memory that we will remember forever. Thanks to Hemanth and his beautiful wife. Amazing people! Something that we really appreciated was how Hemanth called us much after we checked out and checked on us. He was occupied when we were checking out so he couldn't come over to meet us. He called us back which I think any other host wouldn't have bothered to and he didn't have to really. This gesture is something we really appreciated and it made us realise that it is not all about business, it is about connecting. I do not know if anyone will have time to go through my entire review, I might have written a story here :P but I really want readers to know what a beautiful experience it will be if one visits Green Pastures. A must must must recommend. Thanks again to the gorgeous couple for making this experience so memorable.…
Been to quite a few home stays and resorts over the years, this one stands out especially for the food that they serve. It is outstanding on all counts, healthy, tasty and cooked with care! Home food at its best. The facilities are comfortable and homely , ideal for a plantation ambience but the hostess is impeccable in her cooking. I drooled over the mutton biriyani, stews, hoppers, chicken curry. The deserts deserve a special mention on its own. Will certainly get back there just to eat and sleep and chill, far away from the maddening crowd. Thank you.
It's a great place Hosted very well which gives you a "feel at home" as soon as you enter. It was one of the best experience to stay here. The Location is in the midst of coffee estate in Kirangadoor-Somwarpet which makes it pleasant and tranquil. The greenery and atmosphere around refreshes your mind throughout the stay. The place is hygenic, very well maintained, staffs are very friendly and any request from the guests are accommodated with utmost priority. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. We loved the aura of this place. FOOD: The Home cooked food with variety and customizable menu is a delicacy. Be sure you are eating a healthy and well prepared meal each time of the day. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a peace getaway from the hustle bustle of the city.…
The facility is well maintained with an option to have camp fire. The food was especially great and we got to try a lot of the local dishes. Good wifi connection in case you want to work. They have a good list of places to visit around with short travel times. You also have an option to visit their coffee estate as well. Owner Hemant is very kind and will make your stay as comfortable as possible. We got the best rates by contacting the owner directly I will be going back to this place for sure
We had been planning on our trip for over a year, but covid kept postponing the same. We finally managed to get there in Feb and the wait was definitely worth it. Green pastures has an extremely positive vibe the minute you enter the gate, with huge trees standing tall on both sides of the entrance drive. The place has beautiful flowers bursting with colours and aesthetically warm and cosy. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The high point is the food .. scrumptious, delicious wide spread variety of spreads. The hospitality exceeds expectations and is one of the main reasons of taking another vacation there. Hemanth and Tripula make you feel at ease and ensure that the entire trip is made seamless and smooth. Will definitely go back soon because of this place and the warm connection created with Hemanth and Tripula.…
we Stayed 2 nights. Rooms were clean and spick & span. Host Mr.Hemanth & Mrs.Tripula were great people, extended great hospitality to us.They have suggested us excellent sight seeing places Food was sumptuous and no words to explain. They guided us well. we highly recommend this place for your stay. This is real value for money. We are planning to visit this place again with our extended family.
Green Pastures was perfect for a peaceful weekend get away amidst nature! The ambience is fabulous , extremely clean and tidy room, very comfortable beds. Local cuisine was prepared keeping our preferences and allergies in mind, food was definitely a treat to our tastebuds. The hosts Hemanth and Tripula are the sweetest, they took care of us like family which made our stay even more pleasant and comfortable. Last but not the least the staff were super polite and provided great service. Everything was perfect and there is nothing that will disappoint you at Green Pastures!
We have actually visited here twice - once just our family. We liked it so much that we took our gang of friends the next year. It is a neatly maintained place, good spacious and clean rooms. Kids loved the coffee plantation and all the greenery around. Very relaxing. The small stream nearby (reachable via car/vehicle) was a bonus!
I stayed here for 3 nights along with my parents and husband. The guest rooms are in the annex section, which is a separate building from where the owners reside. The property sits on a hill with silver oaks, it's absolutely stunning throughout the day-breezy , ample sunshine with the sound of the swishing silver oaks. The Annex is about 90m from the road, which is quiet with estates on either sides. There are 3 rooms in the Annex, with a common verandah (with gorgeous Athangudi tiles) that skirts the building, a dining space, a courtyard, and a bonfire sit-out. The rooms are large and basic with double beds, a small cupboard, 2 chairs and a table, and attached bathroom with hot water in the taps (not shower). On one side of the Annex is the thick coffee plantation and on the other side is a lovely garden, orchard and a small plantation section. The hosts - Hemanth and Tripula get 10/10 for hospitality and warmth. They are very knowledgeable about surrounding tourist spots, treks, off-the-beaten path locations, view points and more. They are happy to sit and chat with you or leave you alone. The food- I have no words for the food that Tripula makes. It is by far the best food that I have had across my travels in India. Kodava and Malnad specialities like fish fry, pepper pork, neer dosa, sanas and more. It's absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Don't miss her sweet dishes too. A special mention to Suresh, the helper. He was like a magic elf, always appearing whenever you needed anything, and with a lovely smile. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for homestays in Coorg.…
We stayed here for a few nights with a group of friends. The stay at the homestay was the best ever that we had. It is a place to chill, read a book and simply relax and have some awesome food. First the property is housed in a beautiful setting amidst coffee plantations. The area is extremely beautiful surrounded by coffee trees, cardamom and orange trees. The house is beautiful and each room is tastefully done with really nice aesthetics. The rooms were spic and span clean and really loved them. They were equipped with everything that's needed. The gazebo area was really nice and has a campfire location next to it. The food served was simply sensational with a lot of variety. The coffee was out of this world. The meals were home-cooked hygenic and local meals that were prepared with a lot of love. Finally, the owners are really friendly and amiable and made you feel at home. Chatting with the owners was really good and they ensured that all our needs are taken care of. They really made the difference of this stay to change from great to unforgettable. I would definitely go again and would highly recommend this place to relax.…
