We just come back from an 24 hours journey in this hotel and I will definitely miss it. Everything was perfect. We were welcome in Portobelo on the private boat of the hotel (there is an 8 minutes trip to reach the hotel, as it is not accessible by road). As we arrived on the other side, we just jump...

As has been detailed in previous reviews, EOL really stands alone geographically and from what we've read and experienced, as a concept in Panama. Driving along the coastal road to Portobelo Bay, it's hard to believe that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Once you arrive at EOL (finally by boat), it's kind of shocking. The grounds are...

A hidden 'retreat' (only accommodates maximum of 20 guests) in a secluded spot across the bay from Portobelo, Panama. Portobelo was important historically dating to the 16th Century so there are interesting ruins and stories to embellish the experience. El Otro Lado is beautifully decorated with a slightly Afro-Caribbean theme, full of hand-made furniture and artwork. The setting is tranquil...

El Otro Lado was total paradise. A 10-min boat ride from Portobelo, El Otro Lado truly feels like another world. The grounds are intimate - only 8 rooms/lodges total - and unobtrusive, meaning you feel like you blend in with the surrounding nature. The setting was peaceful and we enjoyed exploring around the grounds, especially the secluded lake and waterfall....

On arrival we were met with welcoming drinks and shown around this fabulous boutique hotel . Whoever designed this hotel , thought...

From the moment we arrived until the checkout, everything was as we had hoped - smooth, effortless enjoyment in a beautiful setting. Quirky, yet tasteful, rooms and public areas, delectable food and impressive grounds. The cultural tour of Portobelo with Mama Ari is not to be missed. Wonderful gifts at Casa Congo, also owned by El Otro Lado. Superb sunsets...

This is a really well designed boutique hotel. There is an Afro-Caribbean atmosphere. The first thing that struck me was the art, all from Portobello. It reminded me of Haitian painting. The accommodation is split between the Big House (bedrooms upstairs with huge verandas facing the Caribbean) and individual cottages clustered around the infinity pool. We originally booked in the...

This resort is amazing. It's like a private island with a few cabins. All the cabins are unique in their design. This is not a big resort but very personal with an eye for details. It is in the music, the service and the interior, exactly everywhere. Besides that the scenery is overwhelming as well. If you want a rest...

The place is amazing, has a great view and experience. It does not have a beach since it is dirty because there is no sanitation. Jim, the host, was terrible. He has no social skill whatsoever and he tried to scam us into paying $200 for a cooler we brought (we did not know about $50 per person per day)....
