We had so much fun here! Its truly an adventurous place to stay, because you are literally in the belize jungle in little cabins with no personal luxuries but it was truly an unforgettable experience here. Tino, who basically runs the place was awesome to chat with and is doing everything he can to popularize disc golf in the country...

We decided to stay at the Trek Stop to save some money and get away from the busy town of San Ignacio. We arrived quite late without a reservation but the cook (who was the only one available due to a family emergency) was very helpful. She did her best to make us feel welcomed and find us a room....

I stayed at Trek Stop as part of an Adventure tour. Two of our group left saying it was not up to their standards. I agree. As a so-called eco-lodge it was to close to the road, traffic noises were very loud. The sitting area was furnished with very dirty plastic chairs. The tiny cabins were clean but I do...

I spent about a week here in the summer and was affordable, comfortable, beautiful, and well located. We played disc golf on their premises, walked to the store to buy groceries, walked to the ferry to Xunantunich ruins, and took a tour of Actun Tunichil Muknal from The Trek Stop. Some we talked to crossed over to Guatemala for a...

We decided to stay here to get a bit away from bustling San Ignacio. The units are tiny beautiful things and the food is good. The atmosphere is friendly and the owners (entire family) are great great people. The 5 minute walk to the nearby town (market) is mellow and goes alongside a gorgeous river. You can take the chicken...

I am a budget traveler and this place was perfect for me. I often travel solo, but I also enjoy meeting other travelers. This place gave me both options: I had privacy in my own simple clean cabin, but I could also meet others at the Trek Stop's delicious outdoor restaurant or at its communal kitchen for guests. A supermarket...

I stayed 2 nights here as part of my lodgings. The wood shack aka the room has 2 comfie beds in a very small space and a small table fan. Bug repellants are necessary although all the windows have screens but the door doesn't. Wildlife and local insects are all over the place and the bathroom and the shower are...

The ameneties can be best described as 5 star camping, but everything you could ever need is there. The bed was comfortable, the cabin was clean and bug free, and the shower felt great!! As an added bonus, there is a kitchen on site that you can use to cook your own meals if you desire.....or the restaurant will cook...

Came here first in Oct 2010 for three weeks of bird photography. Liked the birding so well that I returned for a longer 10 week stay in (may&june) 2011. Be ready to 'rough it' as this is no 100 dollar a day resort. Basic but good. The staff is outstanding, and very helpful. I am an 80 year old man. Have...

Trek Stop is a reall good place to stay for a day or two but only if you are willing to rough it a bit and step out of your comfort zone! It has outdoor showers powered by rainwater, composting toilets without water and a handful of rustic wooden cabins in the jungle about 10 mins from San Ignacio. It...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Trek Stop is located right next to the Western Highway which means easy access. We are NOT for the people looking for LUXURY. Our property is located in the "Jungle" as some would put it, which means there will be bugs, birds and other local animals on the premises. We have 10 basic cabins, 5 small cabins which have 2 single beds in the room, and its shared bath. We have 3 cabins which have a double bed and a bunk bed in the room, also shared bath. We do have 2 cabins which have a double bed, bunk and a private bath which has a shower and compost toilets. Our Shared Toilets are Compost Toilets. If you are looking for an adventure, this is the place for you, most of the people that stay here, are out on adventures and don't spend much time in their cabins. We have on the premises a restaurant, a Butterfly Farm & also a 9 Hole Disc Golf Course. ... more   less

“We stayed in the cabin with a private bathroom. It was nice because I don't like leaving my room to use the bathroom at night, but they're kind of yucky/buggy. It was in the back of the property which meant privacy and no street noise, but lots of nature noises (bugs, birds, and a rooster in the morning!)”
