The hotel is nice. Nothing fantastic, yet better than one could expect in Hovd, especially in comparison with the "Hotel Hovd", which is the biggest and historically the best one. My only serious complain is bedding and towels: the materials felt as a sort of chemical fiber. Otherwise the room was good, the restaurant was good as well, and they also have a roof top terrace with a bar
After having stayed and escaped the Khovd Hotel, Steppe proved to be an excellent place to stay. Large room, small but efficient bathroom. Compared to other places this is a modern hotel with very friendly staff and moderate prices. The food is okay and typical Mongolian. If we come back to Khovd, this will be the place for us to stay! Highly recommended!
i stayed here two nights. Rooms were fairly spacious, it took some time to get hot water running in the morning and sometimes it turned cold, presumably at peak times. Also, in hte morning the first water was brown. Wifi only worked in some rooms, error messages when being directed to both network pages. (Bring your own router and buy a super cheap SIM card for 10GB when you arrive is my advice). The beds were very hard, but that was not an issue for me. Pillows stuffed with rice and quite high, worked ok for me. This is one of those places where you cannot throw toilet paper in the loo, as there was no info about this most of us had blocked toilets, but that was quickly fixed (with the bathroom mat soiled afterwards in my bathroom). The staff did not speak English, and the bar seemed to have very limited opening times.…
We heard a lot about this hotel before we tried to book in. When all the standard rooms were taken, we were offered a superior suite at a reduced price. The bed was very comfortable, there was a separate shower and bath - and the toilet (heated seat) had several additional functions. All in all, a real treat!
