Villa Kalisat Boutique Hotel in Ubud is a hidden jewel situated high on a hillside cliff overlooking rainforest, rice fields, and the free-flowing Petanu River gorge 80 meters below. Each of the 7 exclusive suites and rooms at Villa Kalisat maximise the amazing views and the whole hotel is designed to guarantee a relaxing and very private holiday stay. Villa Kalisat is hidden away from the road that winds up the hill through the rice paddy fields to the Pejeng village. It's just 5km and a 10 minute drive to the central Ubud Market and the shopping, restaurant and art galleries of the town. Access to Villa Kalisat is through a working Balinese family compound situated next to the main temple in the village. Once you walk the 40 meters through the working traditional family village you are greeted with your very stylish boutique hotel, with it's beautiful gardens and the stunning views that are on offer from the rooms and swimming pool sun decks all year round. They say that when it comes to a holiday in Bali the most important consideration for a hotel is: "Location. Location. Location." And if it's an exclusive, relaxing and picturesque holiday close to nature in "The Real Bali" that you are looking for - with views second to none - Villa Kalisat is the perfect choice. In addition to breathtaking views, Villa Kalisat offers 2 swimming pools, private terraces, quality furnishings, sun decks and bale pavilions around the pools, free WiFi, a quality and fully trained spa, transport services (surcharge), airport pick-up (surcharge) plus much more. Quality homemade breakfasts are provided free to all guests as part of the daily room rate. Guests can also order lunch and dinner in Villa Kalisat's restaurant or they can enjoy their meals on their terrace or around the pools. Local specialities and Western food are available. There are 15 trained staff in the Villa Kalisat family. Most of our team are local to the Pejeng village and all are ready to welcome you and ensure that your holiday here is a highly enjoyable and very memorable one. Villa Kalisat is built on a steep hillside, with views and scenery that will amaze you and will stay with you for years. However, this means that there are a couple of steep stairs that you need to climb and descend to get to your room. The hotel is, unfortunately, not for the disabled and young children need to be supervised on these stairs and around the pool and deck areas. Languages spoken at Villa Kalisat are: English, Danish, Swedish, Indonesian and French.

Villa Kalisat was a totally positive experience with a welcoming and professional staff. They arranged our airport pick-up, which was seamless - an excellent start! The Villa is beautifully situated, overlooking a wonderful rain-forest valley and rver, the rooms are really large and well appointed, and the breakfasts and other meals we had there were of high standard.. Especially helpful was Cindy and her staff - and to be commended are the arrangements made with their drivers for excursions - at reasonable cost - and in high-standard vehicles. We can thoroughly recommend Villa Kalisat - but it is NOT a "party scene" location, but a quiet beautiful Villa away from noisy crowds.....but only 10 minutes from Ubud, with its restaurants, shops and other attractions.

This place is fabulous. Great, friendly staff is there to assist your every need. The room is large and beautifully decorated, with great view on the jungle. The food at the restaurant is great (tasty breakfastincluded). Don't hesitate to take a hike down into jungle below. This is a type of accommodation that you want to linger in. It is a bit away from the town but a reliable and affordable driver can be provided on request.

Villa Kalisat is a really special place. It’s built in conjunction with a village and it’s really neat to get a glimpse of true life of the Balinese people. The view from my room was spectacular and the food was fantastic. I stayed for two days and deliberately never left the hotel (self-imposed writers retreat). I felt at peace and the staff at Kalisat are all incredibly warm and hospitable. They genuinely care that you have a memorable stay. Can’t wait to go back!

We arrived at the villa on the 30th December 2019 and we were shocked from the minute entering it, where we faced a mess, kids laying on the floor, chickens and dogs running around, garbage on the floor and generally unacceptably soiled common spaces. Villa Kalisat is an extension of a Balinese home and we were charged 200 per night for this place. We faced staff with dirty uniforms and most importantly, the room was smelly with moldy walls. Since it was unbearable to stay there, we left the property but the manager was not willing to return the 50% deposit which we were asked to pay in advance even if during our booking through Agoda it was stated that payment is only required at the property. The reviews and photos of the property available online are misleading and a scam. Unfortunately, we were so shocked for thinking to take photos in order to share with you. I am very disappointed that online travel platforms are of no trust anymore.

My wife and I have travelled extensively, and try to seek out accommadations and places that offer unique and memorable experiences. We have stayed in a palace in Barcelona, a luxury treehouse on safari in Tanzania, a cave hotel in Cappadocia, and an over the water bungalow in Bora Bora. Staying at Villa Lalisat ranks among these special experiences; from the location within a Balinese family compound to the beauty and serenity of the canyon and the river below. The room and the facilities were wonderful, and the staff second to none. The food was tasty and beautifully presented. A certain degree of fitness and mobility is required to negotiate the many sairs to some of the rooms, and to get down and back from the river, but well worthwhile.

i booked this property after seeing the pictures online. which are really great. and it did not disappoint. but after staying here, the best part of this property was really the staff. just to name a few names i remember Adik helped me a lot, the check-in process felt very personal and he was always there with helpful suggestions. cindy too made sure daily about my comfort and if i needed anything. cant help not mention dewa who showed me around the family temple and help me understand their culture. and lastly krishna and his smile whenever i made any request. i know many people were there behind my whole comfortable stay, but i am sorry if i cant mention their names. obviously after the awesome staff, just thought to let you know they have great huge rooms, very comfortable. good food. lovely pools, good wifi connections and lovely views from every rooms. they do have couple of dogs and cats. i never had any problem, but if people are allergic, just know abt it. also they have a in house spa facility the stairs may be a issue for old or people with knee problem. lots of climbing involved if you get the below rooms.

Book a room here! Just do it - I promise you won‘t regret it! The staff really does everything they can to make sure you have the best stay possible - and the best part is that you get to participate in their community life. For example, we got to prepare our oen offerings. They happily answer all your questions about Balinese customs and have tons of good ideas and advice on what to do in Ubud and beyond.

We loved our visit here. The view was breathtaking. Price - very well priced compared to other places in the area. Location - quiet and out of the way. Lovely wind down part of our holiday. Staff - super friendly and helpful. All locals hired helping the local economy. Owner was west Aussie and what an awesome lady, always around for a chat and offered great advise on things to do. Food - really nice, diner must be booked by 6pm I think because it's a small villa. Amazing experience highly recommend. Room - the room was very large with great facilities. My wife loved the experience shampoo in the bathroom.

This villa has.. - Amazing views - Lovely staff - Great breakfast - Decent swimming pool - Nice food and drinks (the welcome drink is something else!) However it also has a few things that I didn’t like.. - A serious amount of steps (60 steep steps down to our room) - Rustic rooms which weren’t for me (personal preference) - Doors didn’t seal shut and lizards came in the room one night leaving us very paranoid for the rest of the stay - A big step in the middle of the room which made the room even smaller than it was (it’s not a very spacious room) - Uneven floor boards which were a serious trip hazard. The floor boards literally curve up and down in some areas and we found this very dangerous. Overall I personally expected more for the money in terms of room quality/space. I could probably live with the steep steps if they lead to an amazing room but I’d class our room as mediocre.
