Jean runs a perfect place. Big, very clean rooms with amazing vues. The breakfast and dinner are of very high standard. All home made, even the cakes. Jean is a very helpfull and charming host with good advice and suggestions for hikes. The hikes are not documented. You always need a guide. He and his capverdian protegee are very pleasant and skilled guides.

Pousada de Vassora is an amazing place, outsatnding, located very close to Assomada city but in the middle of nature and total silence, you are located in the center of the island and not fare from Tarrafal. Room are high standart, service is very attentionate and professional, the food is outstanding from breakfast - snacks - diner (no need to go in restaurant you have the best restaurant home) always differents and made with a lot of creativity and top quality product. Jean will always be there to advise you on the best hike and can joins you to explain you all the detail of Cabo Verde culture, faune & flore secret, he knox all the small path and it was a pleasure to cross the Serra Malagueta together. Very modern pousada on the rim of the mountain. During our stay of two nights the wind was very strong. Hardly possible to sit on the terras. We had a very very nice hike with our guide Samuel, arranged by Julia, the owner. The rooms are spacious with big bathroom. The food was very good.

Unfortunately this very pleasant small guest house is off the beaten track or it would be perfect. Our room was spacious, well equipped, ( although it would have been nice to have had some shower gel, shampoo etc) and very clean. Dinner is served at 7.30 proceeded by a gathering of all guests for aperitifs. The set two course meal offers no choice but is of excellent quality. The owners were very hospitable but we would like to suggest that there should be an honesty bar as we could not get a drink until the owner appeared at 7pm and it would have been nice to sit with a drink after a long walk.
