Nestled amongst tall Pine and Chestnut trees, next to the highway and overlooking the Himalayas, Chestnut Grove Himalayan Lodge is a small complex of aesthetically constructed hill cottages built using stone, wood bamboo and thatch. At present there are four huts and two rooms, all tastefully furnished, with attached toilets and running hot and cold water. Beautifully landscaped and skillfully laid out, these cottages give you the privacy and quiet that you might have craved for in the city, with nothing but the rustle of leaves or a bird call to disturb the silence.

Cosy and comfortable cottages. Excellent hospitality. Nice healthy food. Can spend days here! Nature in abundance. Chai ki Tapri is a bonus. Home away from home. Can go for tracks, visit ancient temples and what not!

This place should be the destination for your vacation, to enjoy the beauty, peace and the amazing hospitality of this place. While this is a night stopover for few people travelling to Munsiyari, but this is well worth being a destination to spend a rather long holiday. The rooms: 2 beautifully done cottages with an additional loft sleeping place, 2 rustic bamboo cabins, and 2 regular deluxe rooms. What differentiates them are the tasteful small touches in the rooms, the beautifully done bathrooms, the quality of the toiletries, towels, linen, etc. Overall comparable to some very expensive places. The food: Finger licking good, their kitchen staff is blessed, they make some of the freshest, great tasting food. You could ask for whatever you feel like having, and it's guaranteed to be like home cooked, light on the stomach food. The staff: They are the rock stars of this place. A team of 4 are dedicated to make your stay not just comfortable, but a memorable one. They go beyond their means to pamper you like royalty. The place: Great views of the Himalayas from their view point, a very serene jungle right outside your room, where you can enjoy bird watching every morning and evening, right there sitting outside your room. Or you could take long walks in the jungle around, which brings great peace to your body and mind. Hot and Cold water are available 24 hours, they provide heaters if you're feeling cold (but the rooms are pretty cozy by themselves), evening fireplace in the lawn, at times there could be electricity issues, but they have generator backup if you need (trust me, you won't), they even have a washing machine, in case you want to wash your clothes, while on a longer trip !! There are board games available for the kids (sorry no TV and rightly so), but the real fun for the kids would be the be closer to nature in a safe environment. As for adults with mobility restrictions, like most places in the mountains, it could be a bit tricky to go up and down, but they do help them get to the room and provide room service in such cases. A vacation here, would really give you the comforts of a high end property, which you often don't find in such remote locations, personalized service as you would expect from a smaller place and the peace and tranquility which you can never find in the larger resorts or properties. Thanks to Vivek and his amazing team, I've had a wonderful time here, and with their hospitality they've ensured that this would not be my last trip there :) .....

As I already said in the title, for me and my family, this is like a home away from home….locate at Vijaypur, a small hamlet near Chaukori, this is the ideal offbeat place for anyone….This is the 3rd time, we have visited this place for a long stay….Awesome hospitality and finger licking foods of Oak Leaf Cafe will definitely make you crazy….From here we have explored unseen and beautiful places like Bhadrakali Temple Cave and Water Falls, Musked Deer Sanctuary and Best Himalaya views from Kotmanya…I will like to recommend this place for long stay/short stay for everyone….Thank Vivekji, Neeraj, Rajendera, Rameshji, Nanda for make our every stay memorable

We stayed at chestnut grove recently (Jan 2021 end) and had a lovey stay (4 adults + 4 children + 1 dog). The team at chestnut grove is completely dedicated towards making your stay as comfortable as possible. The owner Mr. Vivek runs chestnut grove as a place that is truly dedicated towards providing the best experience/service to their guests beyond typical resorts of similar kind. Mr. Rajendra, the manager and his team is highly devoted to the comfort of guest and are highly skilled at their work. The food is soo soo yummy and served fresh and timely. We could also request the food that we wanted and they humbly tried to arrange for that. In our two days stay we did not have even one miss from their side on any front, be it service, food quality and taste or timelyness of morning tea at 7am. The rooms are spacious and your kids would love the loft that they have in cottages. The location is ideal of people looking for some peaceful time close to nature with friends and family around. The views from the viewing deck is awe inspiring, you can see nanda devi, trishul and pancha chuli peaks amongst others. There are small hikes around the place to take kids and family. All in all, chestnut grove is a great place with great rooms, great food, great views and close to nature where you would be taken care of by a skilled and truly dedicated team. I thank Mr. Vivek and the entire chestnut grove team for their hospitality and wish them all the very best for the future.

The people in this property are not running a business, they have arranged a Granny's home visit. They are all so polite, warm and untiring. The property is beautiful with a lovely view of the woods and a stretch of Nanda Devi.. outstanding hospitality, home cooked food. Neeraj is very very sweet person. My kids, parents and pet dog - all thoroughly enjoyed. The bonfire area is an awesome place to sit and bask in the sun in the mornings and to dance at night 😊 the cafe has lot of board games for the kids to have their own set of fun.. and the best part is no one asks to be quiet, not make noise, not play. MUST VISIT!! Vivek's team rocks!

We had an excellent stay at Chestnut, right from doorstep services to food, from a peaceful location to amazing Nanda Devi views, we had a fantastic stay there. Right after we left, I felt a lil sad as I wanted to stay over for a few more days. We even took our dogs and they had the most fun, they got a lot of space to run around and play. I even loved the food there and bonfire as well! Neeraj bhaiyya is really sweet, even accompanied us to a temple and took us to his village. Great services indeed! If you're looking for a peaceful vacation, to enjoy the view, sit in the sun, enjoy cozy winter nights and at the same time have great food and bring your pets, this is just the place for you! Thank you Chestnut! This place surely has my heart ❤️

Just short of Chakouri, Kumaon, this lovely property set in the woods on the highway between Bageshwar and Munsiyari, is a delight. We arrived unannounced at 5pm off season but the staff was eager and helpful and made us very comfortable. In the middle of nowhere amongst the woods and with cottages spread across the property it’s a wonderful place to unwind and camp out for a long stretch and explore the area around. And then there are the views- with the majestic Nanda Devi range looming right up in front with the Trishul and the Panchachuli Range flanking either side the views are to ‘live’ for.... The food is great and the place is really cozy despite the hard rain all night we were warm and dry and then in the morning the rains stopped and the mist cleared and the mountains revealed themselves... wish we’d stayed longer...
