Paid for power site. Didn't know you need a rcd plug so had no power the whole weekend. No assistance there. Was "oh well, don't care attitude" but still paid for it. AND OH MY GOD. Our site was right below the septic tanks. stunk the whole time. Was DISGUSTING having to smell it especially during meal times. TIPS. Don't...

The family and I stayed here for 4 nights over new years with our two year old son and some friends. We camped at the back end of the campsite which we found perfect as it was close to the path to the beach. The camp grounds were clean, with great facillities. The showers in particular were great, plenty of...

Another great holiday at an awesome location. Thanks for widening the sites where we camp and it made all the difference this year. Can't wait for next summer holidays at our favourite camping spot. One thing to improve would be some signs on toilets if closed with reason/time out of service and signs if staff are accessing showers etc whilst...

This is a great family camping ground. The sites are a reasonable size and flat. It's right on the estuary which is a safe spot for swimming, kayaking etc. Ruakaka beach is 5 minutes walk away. The facility's are good and are well maintained by the camp. Coin operated washing machines and dryers. The showers require tokens purchased from the...

Booked here after not many campgrounds available due to the new year and arrived to very rude service before walking into the door. No excuse for being rude to us and we were told they don't want our bad attitudes and people like "us" at their campground for no apparent reason other than us chatting while waiting to be served......

We decided to stay at Ruakaka on our way up north (I grew up coming here every year) and everything remains unchanged and classic which we love. The views amazing as always, however, a great stay needs to be matched with great service. Unfortunately from day dot one lady was extremely rude and derogatory. We did at the beginning get...

My friend Victoria and I were on a road trip just to finish our year of University off with a fun thing. We were on our way up to Whangarei but wanted to check things out on the way so we had arranged to stay at Ruakaka Beach Holiday Park. We had booked to stay for one night, but unfortunately...

My friend Sarah Tuia and I packed up for the weekend (November 2016) and we made our way up to Ruakaka from Auckland. We got stuck on a detour/traffic which set us back an extra 1.5 hrs, not arriving until 9pm which is long past the reception hrs of operation. The lovely lady (owner) at Reception was super understanding and...

“If it's windy, choose a sheltered site, not beach front. If you don't like walking far to the toilet, ask to have a site near an open amenity block-for safety purposes some are closed during off peak. Regardless, walk around every day and explore.”
