A heritage home stay, the only fort cum palace in Orissa on the slopes of the Eastern Ghats which witnessed a siege by the marauding Maratha armies in 1780 and now home of the erstwhile King (Raja) of Dhenkanal. 13 well ventilated a/c rooms with ensuite bathrooms, lounges for relaxation, large courtyards, gardens, orchard, laundry, library, boutique and shop, free internet/wifi & in-house Rasoi serving traditional local cuisine and old family recipes for your enjoyment, comfort and relaxation. The wooded slopes behind the Palace provide opportunities for nature walks. A drive to visit the organic farm, alongside interaction with the tribal village of Majhis and Mundas is an enchanting experience in Scenic Sublime Serene Odisha, the Soul of India.
Live like a Royal? Walk the halls of a 18th century palace? Indulge your senses with deliciously prepared meals? If you want all of that, and happen to be in Odisha, the Dhenkanal Palace provides all those experiences and more. Nestled among the hills, this is a unique setting to make memories. The lavishly decorated front green room serves as the "reception" where you are greeted by the owners, the resident dogs & fresh coconuts. The palace offers 15 rooms, each decorated in its own unique style. Insider tip- room 31( where I stayed) has its own seating room & balcony overlooking the hills & the balcony is the perfect spot for a cup of coffee & to soak in the atmosphere. The heart of the Palace is its sprawling courtyard, where you will feel like royalty, served delicious meals & evening tea, while all you need to do is relax. Every meal is cooked fresh & consist of traditional local & international cuisine. To walk off all those extra calories from the delicious meals, meander along the Palace's halls & passageways, lavishly adorned with antiques. The owners have 3 resident dogs, that true to the nature of this place, calmly watch & interact with guests. The staff go above & beyond to make sure you are comfortable. The beautifully landscaped gardens have flowering shrubs & offer instagram-worthy backdrops. I must mention the owners- their graciousness & warm welcome make you feel more like friends than guests. If you are seeking to step back in time, truly unwind & be pampered like family- then the Dhenkanal Palace offers it all.

This is an absolutely charming place to stay! A family home, loaded with beautiful antiques, where every guest room is slightly different. The staff is dedicated to service; the owners manage & live on the property and are gracious & charming hosts. The food was fresh, home-made, authentic & delicious and prepared with tourists in mind (i.e. flavourful but not burn-your-mouth hot). I would definitely stay again and highly recommend!

Dhenkanal palace combines royalty with homely warmth to create a unique experience for the traveller. The rooms are very comfortable to stay and the local farm fresh food from the palace rasoi is an absolute delight. They rightly describe themselves as a homestay- donot expect anything lavish. The palace is apt for slow travellers looking for a quiet and offbeat experience. One can expect to be fascinated by conversations with the lovely Singh Deo family and calmed down by the serene aura of the palace.

We stayed for ONLY a day (bad planning from me). As soon as we entered the palace, my son says "Papa, why did you book for only 1 night". Anyways, the palace is gorgeous, very well maintained and has a lot of history/tradition with small stories surrounding each room/corridor. Amarjyoti-ji, personally looks after all guests and ensures that guests have a great time. He was always available to give valuable suggestions on different things one can do in and around the palace. The food was delicious, and while we were staying in a heritage property, the owners made all guests feel special creating a very homely environment. It was a shame to only stay for a day. Hopefully not too distant in the future, we would definitely revisit and stay at this magnificent property for few days atleast. We will recommend it to all our friends for sure.

16 of us friends chose this venue for two nights. The Palace has 15 rooms and all are different and nicely appointed. The rooms are large with huge bathrooms. The grounds are pretty and birds are always chirping. The highlight for me was the food and hospitality. The food was excellent and they even had a turn down service (something I wouldn’t expect in a homestay)
Only 90 min from Bhubaneswar, it’s an ideal location for small weddings, corporate offsites or reunions (like in our case)

A really wonderful hotel / homestay. The place is very tastefully furnished, the food dellicious, and it is an island of peace after a day sightseeing in noisy, dusty India. The food is delicious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom modern and impeccably clean. The hosts are delightful for a good conversation, and very professional. Our regret...not staying longer! Thanks to the great team .

Our stay at the Dhenkanal palace was a memorable one. The hospitality and the welcome we felt was very warm. Meenal kumari and Amarjyotiji were kind to have spent time personally telling us about the place and recommending what we must not miss.. The palace itself is so beautifully decorated keeping the heritage intact. We felt very much at home. It was a delight and wished we had spent more time.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Dhenkanal Palace ! Our hosts Amarjyoti and Meenal , the owners of the palace , were extremely gracious and looked into the smallest of our needs with utmost love and care . The palace looked grand and beautiful and Amarjyoti took us on a tour of the property and it was amazing to hear and relive through his stories the grandeur of the past . The food was wholesome and tasty and there was a variation every day in the menu . Breakfast was lovely which we had out in the open in the garden surrounded by beautiful trees all around . Every corner was aesthetically designed and I just can’t wait to sketch them all in my travel journal . Definitely would love to go back someday .
