Balur Estate is a 400 acre coffee plantation since the 1800s. The planter’s bungalow has been around since 1853. The River Hemavathy originates just above the Estate. Its truly a pretty, fascinating piece of India’s Coffee Heritage.Linger at Balur Estate welcomes you to spend a few days and soak in the place, its history, and its solitude. We could describe it but it can only be experienced.Location : 60kms from Chikmagalur - its in the wettest part of the Western Ghats. The famous temple towns of Horanadu, Kalasa, Sringeri, Dharmasthala and Balehonnur are not far from Balur. Kudremukh and the Charmady Ghats are also a short drive/trek away.

Words fall short to describe our experience which was just not enough restricted to only one night. Biggest regret - we should have stayed for atleast 2 nights. We were a group of 8 women who were meeting after years with some almost after 2 decades and this was the perfect

Ever since I ran into Linger's website a few years ago, Balur Estate has been a thing on my list of things to do in the near future. The photos showed that the place was nicely tucked away in lush green mountains of the Coffee country. The theme of Linger's locations is "Do

I went to this property for a two day vacation after seeing so many good reviews. However, my experience was terrible. This is specifically because I traveled with my family with a two year old kid and also because I decided to go by train. Below are some highlights - 1) Room,

Thanks for the feedback. We are disheartened you had an uncharacteristically bad experience of this property. It is a coffee estate quite unlike a hotel or a resort - and the bungalow is private and quiet - the staff quarters are at a short distance (about 2 mins walk) away. We assure you the estate is extremely secure and we have never had any intrusion into the guests' space or privacy. The gates are locked and a watchman keeps an eye on the estate as well as the bungalow. The bungalow is from 1853, and the rooms and decor reflect the same. Most guests have loved this. I do wish you had brought any discomfort you had to the attention of the staff, or to us, and we would have tried our best to resolve it immediately. Airtel does work at the property (though there are bad patches) as does BSNL - and in the worst case guests do call us from the caretakers' phones as needed. The food at Balur (like our other locations) is local, and much appreciated - indeed it is a highlight of the Balur experience! Of course, it is not standard restaurant fare, and we could have tried amending the menu a little had you brought it to our attention. We will check with the staff if there was any slippage in our usual standards on that front. As far as the taxi goes - it is not a service we provide hence merely passed on the numbers of providers that we had. We did mention this was directly between the guest and the taxi guy since it is impossible for us to manage this. We will, however, check with the provider about any discrepancy in charges, and not pass on the number if we find it amiss. We truly wish you had let us or the staff know about these issues right away - we would have loved for you to experience Balur the same way that most guests have, over 8 years of service.

This is the definition of a no-fuss holiday. A great big plantation house, dating back to 1853. Four hundred acres of coffee plantation interspersed with woodland, filled with birds, insects, waterfalls and more walking trails than can be covered in a weekend. Balmy weather,

We stayed at Balur estate (managed by Linger) for 2 nights & 3 days in end August. This is a vast & expansive 400 acre coffee estate in Chikkamaguluru district. It has 6 rooms in Heritage bunglows (from British era), a 26km coffee trail, croaking frogs, cooing peacocks and

This is a small home-like property, and we have a common kitchen. We can instruct the staff to keep the utensils for the cooking separate over your trip, of course.

I'm not sure TA allows that :p But do look it up on our website.

"Choose the ones that stand in the separate bungalow, adjacent to the main one. They have three rooms here."
"All rooms are wonderful, but if you travel in a small family group, ask for the cottage with a shared sitting room."
"Don't miss Cycling or Motorbiking in Estate Trails."
"We stayed at Cardamom suite which has two bedrooms and hall in the middle, there was a nice easy chair and chill-out place."
"The Cardomom and coffee cottages are great though slightly more expensive"
