It's beautiful place with big cottages or homes with cute traditional furniture and interiors. Its very peaceful , lovely mountain view in front and lush green lawn where one can sit for hours , relaxing or literally doing nothing. If you have kids along , there aren't any activities inside (apart from estate trek) Its best for couples who simply want to take a break and enjoy peace. Food could have been better, for dinner told to prepare food our liking , and it was gladly accepted and served, service is excellent..
It was an absolute do nothin stay with 2 other families we had in the Balur estate. Highlight were: - Huge estate to wander around endlessly and also buildup your appetite - Estate trails offers mild ruff roading (can't call it off-roading), excellent views from the peak points in the estate - Huge buildings and rooms. Felt like we own the place though there was another family staying. There is enough room for everyone - Huge traditional bathroom with all amenities - Traditional cuisine, though not too happy about the taste of few items but it will never upset your tummy - Birders paradise, we could also find coffee luwak scattered in many places. Staff confirms there is no animal presence other than Civets - Trekking to a nearby peak with fantastic views - Relax and do nothing. It unwinds you. We stepped out of the campus only to visit the river Hemavathy starting point Lowlights not many: - Dogs, though all of us were dog lovers and are used to pets, the 2 dogs there were too much of a nuisance at times. You may find it tough if you are not used to dogs - Many reviews mention about the personal attention from kitchen staff while charting the menu. But our attempt to strike any conversation with them was never successful. It might be the head lady was away We will definitely recommend this place to folks who love nature, and a peaceful stay with some homely food…

Another wonderful stay from Linger at Balur Estates. Our primary purpose was some easy hikes and birding enroute. We took the private cottage which comes with private dining option.... the rooms are huge, bathrooms are fantastic and huge as well.. We were shown the coffee making process in the evening and then we headed for a short hike to a nearby hill - this where the river Hemavathi originates.. good place to view sunsets.... and some birding as well... We had a great bonfire and amazing clear views of skies... so many stars... Next day morning we wanted to do a longer trek ... so we started at 6.30 and we had a guide accompanying us to a hill .. takes about 1.5 hrs to go uphill on we paved paths....did quite a lot of birding en-route... scenic views... coffee estate all throughout .. Prem Bhadur accompanied us.. great guide...they sent some banana and apple with water with him.. so thoughtful... Food is also the highlight and kitchen staff is ever accommodating.. Rakesh is the caretaker and he is very hard working and is there for all the needs. Balur is a hidden gem one must visit. About 400 acres of private estate... From birding -we saw Orange minivets, woodpeckers, blur rock thrush, crested serpent eagle soaring and calling above (saw one perched during the trek), one black eagle soaring, and many more... Thanks Linger - These nature treks is worth the stay amidst Luxury...Private dining is the highlight !…
