Detailed Reviews
The resort is luxurious yet rustic. Rooms blend into the surroundings. Great food and greater hosts. The rates are all inclusive and there is no skimping on what ever it is that you desire. Even make great pizzas!!!
Fantastic for a weekend getaway or if one wants to explore places around like Belur and Helabed.

It was a sudden decision to beat covid, in our own way. A call on the 18th of November to Flameback and a chance last minute cancellation by another tourist, got us a reservation for the 19th for 2 nights.
The drive from Bangalore was very good due to excellent roads from Bangalore to Chikmanglur. We landed up at around 12noon at Flameback and the team there were expecting us.
One look around and we knew it was a right decision. The place is just great to break away from the daily hustle and is absolutely pollution free and was the best thing to have happened in 2020 for us.
Enough precautions were taken by the management and the team on the pandemic issue.
The cottages are very clean, food is just great and the team very professional. We went around the plantation in the mornings and evenings and I in-fact, I found myself in a corner of the dining area reading a novel during the day.
This is just one aspect of it.
Just as we reached the place, my car broke down (Renault) which would have normally dampened anybody's mood.
However, the team especially Avinash, took up the responsibility and contacted Chikmagalur, Hassan and Bangalore to requisition the spare part. Despite cold responses from Renault teams, he pursued them and got the spare all the way from Bangalore - right on the day we were to leave. He with the team, then personally replaced the defective spare and saw to it that we were back to Bangalore as per our schedule.
It is such incidents that takes your vacation to a new height especially when you know there is someone taking care of your issues and letting you enjoy your time.
Kudos to the management and the team for making our trip a memorable one.

Recently (Jan 2021) got back from a 2 night stay at the Flameback Lodges. We ere a family of 5 including 2 teens and our pet dog. The place is excellent! Gives you a very open and airy feeling. There are a limited number of cottages each with its own privacy so that they don't overlook each other. The cottages are very well maintained and have great views of the nature around. The best part of the property is the large lake on which you can do kayaking and just enjoy the morning sun with fog. The place is excellent for pet lovers. They can move around freely the place under supervision of the owner and with friendly staff and few house dogs as well. Enjoyed the morning plantation walk and the ride to Devarmane Hills for a beautiful view. The food excellent - traditional, clean and tasty with less oil. For mobile 4 G connectivity you can walk to the other side of the lake or to the main road, however, frankly, its nice to be detached and just enjoy the nature. Thank you to the staff for such a nice experience!

Flameback is the place to be if you want to be in the lap of nature and appreciate solitude!
The grounds are located in a coffee estate and encompass paddy fields and a small lake. You can go for long walks, kayak in the lake and birding.
All the accommodation is large, clean and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are clean and shower is good.
The food is phenomenal and they keep feeding you throughout the day. The staff is very courteous and willing to accommodate. They even pack food/ sandwiches if you go for a trek or something.
Many treks in the vicinity and temples like Kukke Subramanya, Hornadu annapoorneshwari, Dharmasthala are all a couple of hours away.
There is no signal or wifi so come prepared with your books or downloaded content

This was our second visit to Flameback. We went away determined to visit more often. We are a couple with a small child and a large dog, and find Flameback ideal for all of us. The reasons are below
Very chilled out about pets. They are allowed everywhere, they don’t make any fuss. Dog food is given in as much quantity and as many times needed.
Kayaking in their estate pond, is a great stress buster and bonding exercise with your kids. We did it 2 times every day !
Lovely easy walks around the plantation
Very very co-operative staff
No hidden charges, once you pay, everything is included - beer, treks, kayaking etc
Lovely food - specially the non veg starters and mains. Some cool deserts as well.
Great rooms, floor to ceiling windows overlooking lush greenery, lots of natural light, large luxurious bathrooms, great sit out.
Cannot think of too many faults , except absolute lack of any mobile signal. That too could be a blessing for a few !

We were looking for a break from being cooped within four walls by the pandemic and Flameback lodges was a spur of the moment decision. The moment we drove into the premises of this beautiful place, we knew that we had made the decision coming here. We could feast our eyes with endless expanse of greenery, the resident German shepherds - Ruby and Caesar struck a quick friendship with our dog, and the cottage assigned to us was well laid out, in the midst of greenery with a private deck to enjoy the lovely outdoors. The food cooked freshly for every meal was a medley of local cuisine and delights from across the country and the world. On request they also provided a properly cooked for our dog which he enjoyed.
Our days were filled with long strolls around the paddy fields, near the lake within the property and along the coffee estates. Every corner held a great view compelling us to carry our camera everywhere. It’s a bird watcher’s paradise, with a number of varieties of birds to be spotted, including the Flameback, after which this place is named.
P.S: most of the mobile networks are not available in this property, it’s amazing to detox from your mobile phones, but if your still wish to be connected, Jio connection works

Nice place but some changes needed. This resort has a great setting. It wld be excellent with a few minor but important changes. An intercom connecting rooms and the front desk is urgently required! Incase of an emergency there is no way one can contact anyone as there’s no network fr mobiles! Also the food needs to improve vastly! The choice and quality were both poor! On a holiday one looks fwd to good food!
The lighting should be way better as it’s toooo dim everywhere. Gives a dull n sleepy look to the whole place! Nets on windows n doors r required as one wld want to sleep with theses open. But presently that’s not possible as insects will get in. Also the AC doesn’t work atall. If the above r paid attention to the place wld be lovely to visit. In todays world all of the above r necessities not luxury.

Beautiful setting by the side of a lake amidst a coffee plantation.
They have lodges by the lake and some with the view of the paddy field. One can explore the coffee and pepper plantations or kayak in the lake, play board games or read. The property has a very calming effect. The staff go out of their way to make you comfortable and the food is superb. Very poor network there which adds to the relaxation and bonding between family and friends. This is a hidden gem.
