We originally booked twin rooms as the double had gone, but Angie put us in the family room that overlooked the river and it was excellent. She kindly brought us tea and cake after our long journey down from Northumberland. The bed was comfy and breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay again

First time we have stayed here and what a lovely welcome we had from Angie our host. She came straight out to the car park and took our bags before we had a chance to lock the car. Showed us to our room and having given us our keys and shown us the "lay out" of the house and our...

When we arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly landlady who offered us tea or coffee and a piece of sponge cake, which we accepted. The cake was very nice. There was a very friendly atmosphere about the place, which was situated right on the edge of the river Trent. The view was stunning from our room, which was...

We were invited to a party at the pub just over the bridge in Shardlow and Holden House was the nearest B and B- I'm so glad I booked it. We were greeted by Angie and despite the fact that we accidentally went into the house through their private sitting room, Angie and her partner were very warm and welcoming....

Greeted with kindness, warm comfortable, clean room with lovely views over the riverbank below. All that is needed in a bedroom and bathroom and homemade cake provided with tea - how kind. Easy to walk to local eateries then an excellent freshly cooked breakfast the next day. Kind friendly people. What more can a traveller need?

It's ideally placed for getting around. Plenty of walks and some lovely eating places. Our morning breakfast really set us up for the day...

We only spent one night here & wish we'd stayed longer! It's right on a curve of the river Trent - I'm sure it would be even better to visit in summer. Angie & Jon are fabulous hosts - they are very attentive without being gushing!! Eggs for breakfast are collected straight from their own hens! The rooms are clean...

I stayed at Holden House for four nights and had a pleasant stay. Room one is relatively small, but cozy. It's always warm and has a comfy bed. The road outside is busy during the day, but very quiet at night. The cooked breakfast is excellent and I'd highly recommend the marmalade. Angie, the host, is very friendly and an...
