I have stayed here many times and keep coming back for it's authentic coffee country feel, peaceful gardens, clean and comfortable accommodations and friendly service. It has the added bonus of a very thorough and insightful coffee tour to the neighbouring, working coffee farm - Finca Don Eduardo.

Tim and Cris were both extremely responsive/helpful via email prior to the stay. Reicid (spelling) was a super good dude and always happy to answer questions. Easily one of the best hostel staffers I've come across on several continents. Accommodations are modest but suitable, and relatively clean. It's a hostel after all. If you are in search of a new/fancy...

Very good hostel in a quite location close to the entrance of Salento, as Salento is a small village it is still very close to everything. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I was in a private room which en suite bathroom, clean and very good value (COP75k/night for a single room, April 2017). They also do a great coffee...

What a difference a day makes! After a truly awful experience in Hilltop Hostel, my wife looked for alternative accommodation. During Easter week it is almost impossible to find somewhere to stay. We walked all over Salento and eventually ended up in Plantation House. We got lucky they had had a cancellation and had a double free. So we took...

I was so lost and looking for a hostel because it was a public holiday in salento. Eduardo hardly try to get me a room because everything was booked out for the whole time in the whole city... he was so lovely and helpful and organised me one! While I was waiting he offered me to go in the kitchen...

We had an incredible stay at Plantation House - so much so that we booked an extra night here. The place is not the most modern, but it was clean and cleaned daily. All the staff were fantastic. Incredibly helpful for everything in the local area and very very friendly. You don't get that everywhere. Tim, the owner, was also...

The hostel is a bit outside but as Salento is pretty small, this won't be any problem. The hostel is nice and quiet and the offer tour is just awesome. You get such a good information and afterwards you really know how to make coffee. You have also the possibility to use the garden across the street which offers very nice...

The coffee tour at the plantation house was fabulous, very interesting and really informative. Tim is a great guide! Highly recommend this to anyone who visits Salento, even if they are not staying at the hostel.

We stayed four nights in a double room with a bathroom. The room was a bit small and rough around the edges, but it was quiet and the owners and staff very friendly and helpful. We also did the coffee tour which was very interesting and the coffee was excellent.

Good hostel with a nice coffee tour. Owner of the hostel is Australian so language barrier if you don't speak Spanish. Definitely would recommend this place. Salento is a very nice and cosy town. Great restaurants also!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in the foothills of the Andes, halfway between the towns of Armenia and Pereira, Salento is in the heart of Colombian coffee country. Conveniently located some 6-8 hours by bus from Medellin, 7-9 hours from Bogota and 4-5 hours from Cali, Salento is the perfect stop off point to explore Colombia´s coffee country. And when you are in Salento, Plantation House (only 5 blocks from the main plaza) is the best location for you to stay. The original Plantation House (PH 1) is a 100 year old coffee plantation house that offers small dormitory and private accommodation with and without ensuite bathrooms, lounge and kitchen facilities. Plantation House Two (PH 2) is a renovated traditional style farmhouse set in 2 acres of land and is literally across the road from the original Plantation House. This also offers both small dormitory and private accommodation with and without ensuite bathrooms. Both Plantation Houses have gas fired hot water systems. Amongst the many services we offer our guests are WIFI, free internet, kitchen facilities, free coffee, book exchanges and book shop PLUS the best most current and accurate tourist information in Salento. In both the Plantation Houses new kitchen and social areas with fireplaces have been constructed. The Plantation Houses have extensive gardens, with a myriad of flowers and native trees and of course a few coffee plants, hammocks and WIFI access. ... more   less
