I would like to warn everyone – NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE – Nature Lanka Ayurveda Resort. I am writing this review so that other people can avoid making a mistake and wasting money and time. This is the worst place I have ever been in my life. 1. They took 100% prepayment before checking in even though the resort was empty – there was only one more guest besides me. I made a decision to leave 2 days earlier because I finally felt that the treatment in not only NOT helping but damaging my health. I came only with cough but I left also with stomach problem after their medicine and food! They STOLE MY MONEY. Now I understand why the resort was empty – because these people are thieves, they don’t care about your health, they care only about the money. 2. Therapists are very inexperienced. I asked to change a couple of therapists and they all were very mediocre. I know it because I had experience in Mirissa and Nuwara Eliya. In Nature Lanka they are not prepared and not trained at all. Seems that they are in a hurry, forgetting to work with fingers and other places. In other words – WORST AYURVEDIC TREATMENT, if I can even call it so. 3. They gave me 4 medicines on the first day and I vomited after half an hour. They asked me to take the medicine again same day a couple of hours later and again I vomited. They don’t even understand that with my health and body weight I can’t take 4 medicines at a time! 4. The doctor works in Galle and comes to the resort only in some difficult cases, in all other cases you will be consulted by young inexperienced ladies which is not what I expected. I asked them a lot of questions because I am interested in Ayurveda and they couldn’t answer even to half of them. The check-out recommendations only make me laugh – nothing is written or explained – they give same to everyone if you ask. If you don’t ask, they don’t give at all. 5. They ignore completely all requests. For example, I asked to see a doctor because I started to have pain in the ear. They didn’t even bother to make an appointment. Of course, why would they, if they already got all money in advance! Also, we asked to change the food but after our requests they stopped cooking at all! 6. The food was DISGUSTING, not fresh and same every day and same to all 3 people – no difference according to dosha types. It was a complete torture because I thought we will get some nice vegetarian healthy food. Instead, every day we got same soup only with herbs – no vegetables at all, same rice with their sri-lankan style spicy herbs. The worst thing is that day by day the food got worse and worse and in the last days they only were giving rice with spicy sauce. I was eating only fruits, which as it appeared THEY CAN ALSO SPOIL. 2 times they gave us not ripened bananas after which our tongues got numb and the juices were soooooo awful (90% of water and 10% of pineapple), that I thought I will die from hunger there. 2 times they gave fried! Fish which was as hard and dark as wood. How healthy it is! And we could probably go to another place to eat but the resort is TOOO FAR FROM EVERYTHING. 7. The resort is so far from all places, you need to take a taxi or tuk-tuk and they get angry if you call a pick-me taxi because they want you to go with their tuk-tuk driver who gives them commission but is twice more expensive. 8. Shampoo and conditioner were not provided. They gave shower gel only after my every day requests which is ridiculous. 9. Cleaning lady threw away my bag which was on the drawer – NOT ON THE FLOOR. Just because she thought that I don’t need it. 10. They violated all human rights at my check out trying to keep me waiting as long as possible and I was late for taxi. 11. I came there to improve my health and relax before marriage and honeymoon but they spoiled everything and I regret that such places exist. I hope no other people will become victims of this fraud.

Response from Punchihewa Manjula, Owner at Nature Lanka Ayurveda Health Resort
Responded 17 Jan 2023
Dear Madam Nadezhda, thanks for your time to share review like this. you have threatened us that if you not received the refund you will write very bad reviews. So, when comes to your points, first of all resort hasn't more guests, because of the forex crisis in Sri Lanka at that time. Secondly we have indicated our billing voucher about the refund policy. Due to your unacceptable crucial behavior, our employees couldn't reach your expectation. We are treating our employees with respect even for cleaning service employees . The higher management planed for inquiry about your complains and your behavior. But you did not showed. Anyhow sorry for the inconvenience.

The Ayurveda Resort is far off the buzz and a place to calm, relax and regain energy. Every single person there seems to enjoy their job and dedicate much to your well-being. It feels like you're part of a little family. The doctors are skilled and always available. They educate you not only about the procedures but also about the food you're eating daily. The facility has a clean pool, direct access to the beach and daily yoga in the morning. Besides great treatments, tailored to your Dosha and needs!

My vacation in Nature Lanka was special. I discovered a true Paradise! A wild garden at the wild ocean, the animals I’ve never met in the nature. But most important - the people with the most beautiful hearts and caring hands, the food that the biggest foodies in the world just can not expect to find on their table. The old traditions live in XXI century and creating the atmosphere that leaves you in the peace and happiness. The idea and the ability to convert your customers into a big Family - that is the most beautiful (business) idea I’ve ever met. Not to mention the quality of Ayurvedic treatments. Thank you for the unforgettable experience! Can’t wait to return! Evelin Ilves, First Lady of Estonia 1996-2015

I never write reviews. But after visiting nature lanka I have to . This is the place to heal your body mind & soul. The care is personalized and exceptional. The drs with the ayurvedic treatment helped us immensely! Brilliant Drs. But Drs can only heal the physical.... Its the healing that happens with nature ! I have never been to a place so connected to Nature.... untouched beach for miles .... The sound of the ocean and trees.... beautiful birds and butterflies.... Food according to ones doshas. Wow is truly a word made for this place. We stayed at cabana 1 and it was like we slept with the sea:) If you want serious authentic Ayurveda and nature to help you heal this is the place. Even if you just want to slow down the mind and connect to the self this is the place :) Fantastic morning yoga gets you started:) We plan to come every year.....🙏

I have been to Nature Lanka with my family in December 2019. We spent 10 days with the wonderful people from the resort. It was a fantastic experience to be pampered every day with massages and vegetarian meals. Rooms have everything that you need to have a relaxing holiday away from the world. The beach is at the doorstep and the sounds of breaking waves send you to sleep every night. We could access the free WIFI so you are able to stay in touch with the outside world if you choose too. The meals are satisfying as a carnivore I thought that not having meat for 10 days was going to be very difficult for me. I did not ever feel hungry or dissatisfied at all. I am sure if I did the staff would have made me something else. As a family, we took our 10-year-old son who had special meals prepared for him daily. We all had plenty to eat and enjoyed the sweet surprise treats that would sometimes be the meals or accompany the meals. The staff are all amazingly friendly and have a very calm way of conducting everything that they do. We saw lots of wildlife around the hotel from different types of monkeys peacocks and many other smaller birds reptiles mammals. Everything was great and we would love to return and visit all the people we made friends with.

It was a great pleasure to stay here. Watching the healing process from day to day through Pantchakarma, Yoga, Nutrition developed for each dosha-style taken from the Nature-Lanka Garden. Its tidy, clean and still in the wilderness of nature with monkeys, peacocks, iguana etc. Friedrich Schiller, a german doctor and poet, once said that aesthetics is the well balanced product of feeling and form, creativity and structure. Saying it with the words of Novalis: Every illness is a musical problem. Your healing a musical dissolution. It took me six days with ayurveda and traditional sri lankan medcine (TSM) since an unexpected great health success took place. Ayubowan - May You live long! Thank you!

I wish I had read a precious review on Google which said to avoid. You will see all my precious reviews are positive. It has taken me some time to write this as I have been waiting for the company to be honourable and refund my money. They have not. Basically, this is a 1 programme fits all. I was given a programme that left me in my room, crawling on the floor, with only room temperature (32*) water to drink. I wanted to use the retreat for its Ayurvedic medicine, not just maintaining health, but improving it. I have chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia, and was looking for somewhere that would help improve symptoms. The room was basic, with air conditioning and no fridge. The swimming pool fine. The massage facilities and staff were excellent. Maybe the first consultation should have alerted me to the future problems. The consultation had 4 doctors qualified in Ayurvedic medicine,, 2 of which had trouble staying awake. I was examined and I gave them my history. My blood pressure was taken and was on the low side, which was only little below normal for me 100/60. I was given a full programme of massages, food and Ayurvedic medicine. This included a "purge" on day 3. I approached the programme with hope. Days 1 & 2, I took the medicine and had up to 4 massages a day, including hot oil poured on the head, body brushing, foot massage and full body. Even though I had pain, i used my distraction techniques and tried to concentrate on the positive side. Day 3, I took the purge, and from there I started to deterioate pretty rapidly. Becoming dehydrated pretty quickly. Day 4. I could not leave my room. I was visited by staff and was given water. The problem was the water became very warm, very quickly, and became unpalatable. Day 5. I continued with the massages and ate 1/2 a meal, I spoke to the liaison member of staff, and said that the massages were making me fee really tired. The medicine were giving me cramps and were basically laxatives. Day 6, I decided to stop all treatments. Day 7, I left, whilst my health sit.l allowed me too. I had paid for 14 days. I was not offered a refund for the remaining 7 days, or any partial refund. I was not reviewed when between day 4 and day 7. My blood pressure was not taken again. On the returning plane journey to India, I fainted. My blood had dropped to 80/50. I was dehydrated. I continued to Kerela, where I sought out another Ayurvedic practitioner. That treatment went better. I accept that other people may have different experiences of this retreat. My specific complaints are this: 1. The food was the same for different Ayurvedic types 2. I was not reviewed when I went I started to deteriorate. 3. There was no easy access to water, a fridge in the room, may have prevented my dehydration. 4. The programme of massages or medicine was not reviewed at all. 5. The programme seemed to be a 1 size fits all. 6. A full or partial refund for the second week should have been offered. 7. A request for some sort of refund has been ignored when I returned home.

I just had a wonderful stay at nature lanka, for me it was like paradise. I loved the natural setting, the garden with many colorful birds and the view on the ocean that one hears from the rooms and treatment area. To be massaged at the sound of the sea! I don't think however it is suited for everyone. The facilities are simple but sufficient. In an era where environmental concerns should be held high, this for me is a quality, but some could be disappointed. The treatments were excellent. The only weakness is sometimes a lack of communication between staff, information not always getting where it should. But the woman doctor and the desk officer do their most to make things work. The food is simple, which I liked, but some might expect something more adapted to each dosha. But at the end one feels wonderful. Only one negative remark, the way the panchakarma is done is not very seriuos from a dietary point of view, whole food beeing reintroduced too fast. So in conclusion a wonderful place, but the management efforts lying on few shoulders. I hope they stay strong, I would like to return.

Stayed for a week at Nature Lanka resort, very welcoming and friendly staff, very relaxing, wonderful location in a tropical garden. Waking up and falling asleep to the sound of the waves and long stretch of unspoiled beach ideal for long walks. A truly relaxing experience especially in combination with Ayurveda tretaments.

It was first time for us making the long way from Germany to Sri Lanka, we did lot of research before to find a location with medical oriented, serious treatements and exposure to unspoiled nature. After 5 weeks (my wife Susanne) and my 2 weeks we were fully satisfied with all aspects 1. Solid, experienced medical consulting and coaching all the days on a personal level 2 Intensive ayurved treatements by qualified and gentle therapists 2. Great cooking 3 no stress environment with few people sharing a large, green garden area and facing the beach (max 15 people seen) 4 beautifull rooms ( take the sea view ones) and great bungalows ( 3) 5 very friendly staff 6 location is away from streets and civilisation, but close to 1/2 or days trips 7 good price-quality relation
