Got there in afternoon to find hotel closed as owner had to go to hospital. Previous owner happened to be talking to another customer outside explaining situation and that barman would be in later to open up. He spoke like Nigel Thornberry off the cartoon show & told us about a local bushwalk at philosophers falls to pass time.Well worth...

We got a pretty nice room at this hotel. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Had to pay $7.50 extra for internet and then couldnt get it in our room - only on the landing. Dinner here was pretty good and the town itself is a lovely little town. Cant really fault the hotel at all - it isnt a...

Before I go any further, new owners had only taken over a month before we arrived. We were booked in for 2 nights, but when we arrived, our booking had been lost. The lovely hosts were able to find us a room, and our meal that night was good Aussie pub food. The hosts have big plans and this pub...

We stayed for two nights here as a step-off point to Cradle Mountain. Remembering that this is budget accommodation, we enjoyed our stay. The location is lovely - across the road from the waterfall, and close to many great walks. The rooms were clean and well-presented, and serviced daily. Staff were very friendly, and endeavoured to make our stay a...

Don't even slow down! OK, to be fare, you do get a 19th Century Australian/British boarding house experience. The building does have some interesting features, although it was 'updated' in the 1970s, cheaply, and now has a faded 70s look. Everything is run down, it is noisy - we could hear every door open and the guy next door snoring...

We stayed 2 nights here and had a great time. The room was the en suite one with a view of the waterfall in the middle of town. It was small, comfortable with a tiny telly, but that wasn't why we were here. The new owner was having a little trouble coming to terms with the magnitude of the job,...

After spending a day travelling from Strahan via Corinna to Waratah, we decided a dinner stop was required before heading back to Strahan. This seemed to be the most likely and probably the only option. It's a typical country pub and isn't made out to be anything it's not. The decor is old country pub and the menu is the...

We initially scoped out the Bischoff Hotel before checking into the local caravan park and headed back as per the advertised 4.30pm opening hours only to find it closed. After a 15 minute wait we decided to cut our loses and visit the bottle shop at the back of the pub, clearly signposted as open, grab a few beverages and...

We called in for a Sunday lunch on our way home from Cradle Mountain. Considering it was off the main roads and in a quiet town, we were pleasantly surprised we could get a meal (a very nice Bischoff Burger). Service was fast and it was a pub just like I remember when I was younger. Thanks!

As review title suggests, this is a clean and homely old hotel with budget accommodation. The waterfall views available in some rooms are a lovely addition for a little extra money. There aren't too many other places with such a unique view for a good price. Has a country feel - food is hearty and home made, people friendly and...
