We called here for a meal on a Saturday teatime. Lovely, cosy little pub with great home cooked food. Would definately recommend. Good value and fantastic food. We had the steak pie with chunky home made chips, veg and gravy served in a little gravy boat. Also had the chicken parmesan with chips and salad. To die for. Excellent value...

Booked a table on Friday night. Special offer on a Friday is 2 fish and chips for £12. Well and truely worth the money, fresh fish battered with lovely handcut chips with peas or mushy peas. We also had a parmo, which was very nice. Would have been nicer to have the handcut chips with the parmo instead of the...

Excellent meal out for 8 celebrating a birthday. The food was excellent value for money with big portions and low cost. The quality was very good too and the Chicken & Bacon with Wensleydale source is highly recommended. Tripadvisor seems to think this is only a hotel, but it is a lovely little village pub too!

Had a meal here with my wife and it was typical pub food, it was ok for the price but a few extras could turn it in to a better cuisine venue, the garlic mushroom starter was very basic and runny, the burger main course was average at best, the dessert was sticky toffee pudding which was the best course,...

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night whilst walking the coast to Coast walk. The rooms are over the courtyard and were clean and tidy and a little small and basic but okay for a 1 night stay. The bar had a 3 good cask ales (the Black Sheep bitter had fortunately just gone off and been repaced with a...

Visited for dinner while doing the C2C. The food was excellent and good value for the quality and portion size. A decent selection of local real ales were available which were well kept. Staff were friendly and helpful if rather rushed off their feet. We'd certainly go here to eat again.

Really friendly people, superb food (really good plate meat pie) and although the accommodation was basic it was very clean and the bed was very welcome after a tough day walking! Interestingly the Blue Bell also acts as the village Post Office during the day.

This is a cracking local pub - we visited as we were staying nearby whilst walking the C2C. We couldn't believe how busy it was on a Thursday night - it was full of locals - the darts team, the dominoes team - and people eating. But after spending a very jolly night there, we could see why. There's great...

The food was very nice and had a good selection of beers. Camping basic a very open not great in bad weather. Wish the staff had been more welcoming was not really shown where to camp or where the toilets were just pointed. Not asked if I wanted breakfast or a packed lunch making up. Staff were very young and...
