Always nice to have a welcome along the greenway, 7 days a week. Watch out for meals, Sunday night, it's dead on Haybes. Except for the local pizza place. Professional boss and very attentive staff. Even out of season, it is necessary to keep an establishment open. Bravo and good luck.

Location in the beautiful valley of the river Meuse is ideal for cycling on la voie verte transardennes which is a must from Givet to Charleville . Locked garage for bikes. Nice spacious room and bathroom. Very good buffet breakfast and most staff very friendly and helpful.

However, the restaurant is poor: ill conceived and not well balanced menus and dishes. Strange combinations of taste. A good boudin blanc ruined by stuffing it with cheese and wrapping in smoked bacon and accompanied by jacket potatoes filled with more cheese and bacon! Poor stomach! Basic rustic dishes, which is fine but at an exaggerated price, and not well executed. Poor presentation. The chef takes a pot-shot at trying to be trendy by leaving an ubiquitous dusting of spice on all the starter plates. Why? Vegetarians, beware of the "assiette de legumes" which is the main dish of the €19.50 menu: a pile of plain boiled rice, boiled potatoes, tired overcooked mangetout, carrots and turnips and that's it. Should have sent it back. Could not believe it and could not finish it. I am not a vegetarian but yet, you can do so many wonderful dishes with seasonal vegetables. The dessert: pot of fruit was ludicrous: some tinned yellow peach, a few bits of fresh white peach and some pieces of apple and 1 grape! The starter: trout in escabeche was only just passable but again grey and unappetising. This was our worst ever restaurant experience. The chef seems completely out of touch. After 2 meals (we had a second meal there because there was nowhere else to go locally), we gave up and dined somewhere else further afield which seemed to upset the very rigid waiter! I am an Ardennaise born and bred. We were looking forward to the food but it left us so disappointed and feeling completely cheated. As a French woman I am sorry to say that some French chefs in France are resting on their wilted laurels and British chefs are catching them up fast and in fact have already overtaken them!

Super Value and good size bedrooms, clean and very friendly.
Highly recommended is the 12 Euro Menu - excellent local cooking and brilliant value! Dont be put of by the price - this is just really good value.
Breakfast was a typical French buffet - excellent value and food
The managers speak perfect English if required - and all the staff were happy to do anything to make our stay good.
The Village a lovely place - alongside the Meuse - good walking and sightseeing - and a train station on the Charlville / Givet line.
Highly recommended (two families) by all.

This is a review of the restaurant only. In 1980 with my parents, we stayed at a Logis de France at Haybes. I recall the main hotel was on a street a short way from the river Meuse, although we stayed in an annex a short walk away, with views over the Meuse. I am not sure this is the same place but as we were staying in a gite not too far away we decided to try it out for lunch.

I am not sure if the Hotel has it's own parking but we found a place right outside so this was not an issue.

On entering we were welcomed and shown to a table near the window. The menus and wine menu were brought and aperitifs ordered. I ordered a beer which came from a town in the Ardennes Dept, which we had driven through the previous day.

The menu was not large but gave a perfectly reasonable choice. My wife had the pate while I had the assiette due charcuterie. Lovely food, well presented.

The we both had the entrecote de boeuf, medium (a point). It was cooked to the perfect a point.

A bottle of red wine was ordered although I just cannot remember what it was.

Nice service and an understanding our French might not be that great. As my wife was driving we (I) saved some of the wine for her and the waitress kindly supplied a small cork top to ensure we got it all back to the gite.

Good, unpretentious, but nice French restaurant. Would happily go back there if I am ever near by.

Depending on the where you see the hotel it can be 3 or 2 star. It has a bar and restaurant and the reason it is 2 star is the front desk closes late night and no guarantee of an English speaking person. The lady who checked me in spoke English but had no really problem getting what I needed.

The hotel is getting some renovations but is a clean, nice and well decorated.
The bar has a nice selections of wine and Belgium and local beers.
The restaurant is excellent and worth going just for that. It was colder night so no one sitting outside the inside had around 15 tables and was almost full with guests and locals. I did not try breakfast.

This little hotel was like home from home, and just what we were looking for. Thank you Gwen for your genuine friendliness. The breakfast and 'chocolatines'were great. Rooms fine for us to sleep. Great garden and beautiful pool. Our friends close by recommend the Camette restaurant next door but we didn't have time to go. Great location to rent bikes from and cycle to the lake. Ok so the place needs a little revamp but it's perfect for a relaxed holiday. We would definitely go back. Thank you again. Jo, Herve, Chloe, Jack and little dog Cookie x

Our room was small but clean (some wear and tear though), although getting up the stairs is a bit of hassle for the lesser mobile among us.

We noticed the holder of our shower head was broken, this could've been noticed during cleaning but I understand it's not something you look for if you're just cleaning.

Good facilities (securely locked room) for your bike, if you're biking along the voie verte Ardennes. Definitely recommended.

Good breakfast and their lunch and evening menu has local beers!

Bien Cordialement Julien Dejente

Oh boy! Where to start? It is hard to believe that this hotel can survive much longer - unless it's about the only thing in town. Yes, that must be it! The room was clean and bed OK. The shower head did not work, water just sort of burbled out of it. I went to the bathroom and, after flushing the toilet, I noticed that it did not fill. I disassembled the top, put the porcelain top on the shelf behind the WC, and fiddled with the float to get it to work. We left it that way during our stay or we'd be disassembling the darn thing every time.

I thought I'd look to see what was on the TV, but couldn't find a remote control. I turned the TV on manually and could change channels manually, but there were not buttons on either the TV or the cable box to change the volume, which was ridiculously low.

The next morning we ate breakfast at the hotel - which was very nice. They even had fresh eggs you could put in a hot water bath to make your own soft-boiled eggs. Unfortunately, the egg timer didn't work. You rotated it and set it down and, if you didn't pay attention, you'd have a hard-boiled egg before you noticed the timer did not rotate and ring at the end of its set time. Oh, and the numbers were worn off, too; so setting the timer was a hit-or-miss affair in any event.

I can accept some discrepancies. My life is full of them. But, combined with dinner here the evening before, when we arrived (you have to read my restaurant review of this place!), I have come to believe the folks who run this place simply don't care.
