The first point to be made is that this hotel is in a relatively remote part of a relatively remote island - it is not a 'seaside resort'. To get to the island you travel two hours south of Adelaide, then take an often rough ferry crossing of about an hour, and then drive over 200 miles to the Flinders... More

We bought a cudo voucher months before our trip and had had some problems booking the room included in the package and thought we might have to move one night. When we arrived it had all been sorted and we also received a complimentary bottle of wine. The room was much better than we expected as was the whole place.... More

We booked an Eco lodge room but got upgraded to a courtyard room - we were delighted. It's a really nice experience to stay here. The restaurant experience was really odd though - we arrived 4 min before our booking and were told we were early and couldn't look at the food menu. We got given drinks menu but it... More

The lodge is priceworthy, we paid ~180$/day and the courtyard rooms are nice, with a big patio, inside a standard motel room, but the location makes up for that. The restaurant has excellent food with a great service at regular prices. The winelist holds only Kangaroo Island wines for affordable prices, the range covers most wishes. But there are little... My husband and I stayed here for four out of nine nights that we spent on Kangaroo Island. We stayed in an apartment which had one bedroom with a king-sized bed and a set of bunks, a fully equipped kitchen (hotplates, microwave, crockery, cutlery, large fridge and cooking utensils), TV, video , dining table and chairs in a small lounge area... We spent 3 nights at the Wilderness Resort out of the 8 we had on the island altogether. We arrived around 2.30pm and were immediately made to feel at home by the friendly receptionist. We had booked a room with a bath - Room 11 - as I read on Trip Adivisor that they had been renovated and they had... More

My husband and I are seniors and on our recent trip to South Australia we did not have the time to spend more than one night at the Wilderness Retreat on Kangaroo Island which once we arrived I totally regretted.. Our room was spacious and well appointed. We had booked with Sea Link for a combined ferry trip and accommodation... More

My wife and i had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful venue earlier this month. On arrival we were greeted by the Resident Manager Monica who after checkin showed us to our room. We had a Spa Room in the privacy of the corner of the retreat. After settling in it was across to the settings of the great... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in August 2011 with a friend. We had booked a spa suite but due to a miscommunication, we were offered a normal room (and a dinner voucher) and given the spa suite in the second day. When we arrived at Stunning Kangaroo Island, we found out through the transfer driver that the resort was in... More

We travelled to KI via the ferry - a great way to see the Island from the sea and stocked up with supplies before driving upto KI Wilderness Retreat. The check in was quick and it was obvious from the reception area and frontage of the property that it was in-keeping with the local area. The rooms, all with double... More
