The room was fantastic, above expectations - coffee, milk and mineral water provided, together with some sweet biscuit snacks if that is your thing. Value for money was perfect, ideally situated near the hotel where we had dinner - unfortunately we didn't test out their breakfasts as we had a pre dawn departure to Tankwa Karoo NP.

Friendly people. Clean and spacious rooms! Would recommend this guesthouse to anyone. It is very safe and parking not on the street. Quiet as well. If anyone needs a break from the hustle and you are visiting or road tripping this is the place to stay.

We arrived in town after a long drive in the Tankwa Karoo on Sunday afternoon. We have tried to look for places to stay but most were closed. We just went to Katryn's and asked them if they have a free room for us. They were very hospitable and showed us our very nicely decorated small apartment which is well...

Stayed at Katryn's B & B for one night as our halfway stop travelling to the Northern Cape. Bedroom & bathroom were spacious, comfortable & clean. Only complaint was that the "little touches" were missing, no small soaps for the shower, a dribble of handwash at the basin & just a couple of coffee satchets in the kitchen. The person...

Stayed 2 nights at this really lovely B &B in Calvinia on our way further north. The bedroom was very spacious with an extremely comfortable bed. The bathroom was also very spacious with a great shower. The whole place was very clean. The breakfast was really tasty and more than sufficient with a great variety of coffees and teas to...

Karen Steyn's cheerfulness and kindheartedness made up for any lack nature had failed to supply for us... there were next to no spring flowers in Calvinia and as Karen said there hadn't been any for 10 years anyway. and their river, the Oorlogspruit hadn't flowed full time for years and had recently stopped flowing all together. But they didn't let...

Good stopover on way from Cape Town to Kgalagadi Park. Calvinia about halfway if you want to break travel into two days although technically possible to do in one. Calvina has 48 B&B's, and searches on TripAdvisor and Safarinow showed that Katryn's was highly rated. Our stopover confirmed this. Comfortable, clean, well appointed, clearly caters for very hot and very...

We stayed here on our way up to Kgalagadi from Cape Town- a good 'halfway' point. We had not booked, as we had intended camping, but we arrived in Calvinia in the middle of an unseasonal Cape storm and decided we would rather seek a more comfortable overnight option. We arrived at Katryn"s unannounced, but they welcomed us warmly and...
