#4 of 10 hotels in Shivpuri
The Himalayan Hideaway is located 19kms from Rishikesh on the Devprayag in the Himalayan foothills, surrounded by a mixed forest with the Ganga flowing past. There are 10 rooms scattered over the hillside. We are not a resort or a hotel. We are simply a Lodge. The rooms are built and designed like a Colonial Forest Rest House. Our rooms are named after legendary climbers and explorers who have climbed in the Garhwal Himalaya. Our garden is indigenous and planted with only the native species of the area. No exotics. If you are looking to getaway from the city and unwind, have a desire to be in nature, want to step off the treadmill of city life for a couple of days, then the Himalayan Hideaway might be what you are looking for. Himalayan Hideaway is for those who want a leisurely and maybe not a lazy retreat. We offer white water rafting, bird watching, short and long hikes and Yoga. The food is wholesome and plenty. In short we offer you a warm and welcome retreat in nature.

Thank you very much for your "thumbs up" for our Lodge. Due to the pandemic our Spa was not operational, otherwise that would have been an additional point towards the holistic experience. Please visit again.

We found this gem accidentally after we checked out from the disappointing place called Aloha by the Ganges. They have tastefully done up rooms surrounded by nature. All you can hear are birds chirping & the beautiful sound of river Ganga. We stayed for 1 night only & wish it was longer. The service & food is superb too. The staff- Ram, Rana, & Ranjit- are super friendly & always available to help you. They have so many anecdotes to share too. You can reach the ganga banks by a 15-20 min(for me, for experts 5 mins) down the hill from their property & its worthwhile. Ideal place for couples/group of friends. Not recommended for ppl who have a little trouble walking or with young kids/toddlers. Food is tasty & basic. They make everything fresh & will ask you for preferences. All in all loved the experience.

Hello Somya C, Thank you for your generous and accurate review. We wish you could have stayed longer and done some rafting with our sister company, Himalayan River Runners, of which Ram and Ranjeet are the guides. We like to keep the Lodge simple yet comfortable, so guests can spend time outdoors communing with nature. If you come with a few more days to spare, we can organise overnight rafting and hiking trips too. Stay well and stay safe.

Dear Stephen H, Thank you very much for your fabulous review and words of encouragement for our services. Thank you also for taking out the time to teach our cook how to bake a different sort of bread. We have grown and developed organically, precisely with this sort of positive interaction with our guests, where we are always open to learning new recipes or gather new ideas where we feel that they will be good for our future guests. We hope that you will visit again once the World starts to travel again. In the meantime stay home and stay safe and healthy.

Everything about the Himalayan Hideaway - the food, design of the buildings, service and welcome - is delivered with such love and attention to detail. The staff managed by lovely Tanya, all share a real pride in what they deliver and show such concern for customers. We stayed for 5 nights and ate all our meals at the hotel.Every meal was absolutely delicious AND different and all diets - from vegan to gluten free - are catered for. It is a real hideaway but there’s plenty of things to do. Activities include a spa offering massages, a fantastic yoga studio, white water rafting, bespoke hiking and rafting packages and Rishikesh is just 30 minute drive away. Highlights for us were visiting a local temple and ashram a couple of kilometres away , walking along the beach ( a 5 minute descent down steps from the hotel), a daily yoga sessions and a white water trip. Won’t forget the great chats around the fire pit at night with charming owners Ganeve and Yousef, the thundering sound of the Ganges as a permanent soundtrack and the best food we’ve eaten in India.

Dear Julie and Peter, The world changed rapidly since our evenings around the bonfire. We hope that you are both home and safe. We also hope that you are making plans to visit again, possibly for a Yoga Retreat, once the World is able to travel again. In the mean while remember that the Ganges continues to flow, probably cleaner than its been in a very long time. Thank you for your generous review and we look forward to your visit again.

EVERYTHING was SPECTACULAR! The location and rooms are perfect. Dreamy , spacious, stunning and so peaceful. The staff are exceptional both in skill and attitude whether it's cleaning, cooking or guiding. The hostess is so warm, polite and super helpful. Extra points for Sikander the chef, Tanya the hostess and Paresh the server. Ram - the adventure guide was also very helpful and skilled but we couldn't personally use his skills this time. Once again - the food, stay , hospitality and warmth were BEYOND EXCEPTIONAL. JUST LOVE IT. STRONGLY RECOMMEND.

Dear Parul4us, Your generous review is so encouraging and so very welcome at this time when we are in lockdown all around the world. I hope that once the world is able to breathe again, you will visit us again. We continue to learn new recipes and hopefully we will "wow" you again. Stay home for now and stay safe and healthy.
