We stayed here 1 night prior to a 2 night boat trip around Allepey. We wish we had booked longer. The accommodation was lovely, a real authentic Kerela feel and experience with the luxery. The view of the river was stunning and so relaxing. The kids played in the river, rode bikes, explored the small plantation and fished with the cane rods provided by the owner. While my husband and I waved to the boats going by with an old monk and coke (we brought in out suitcase). The food was wonderful, my husband said his favourite meal in the whole of India... And we have been all over India in the last 2.5 years of living here. I cant recommend staying here highly enough!
This wonderful homestay is right on the banks of one of the main thoroughfares in the backwaters but is still quiet and serene, with fabulous west facing sunset views. The accommodation is in timber, cabin like rooms with outside bathrooms, which were very quirky and lovely, albeit a bit dark. There is Wi-Fi and air-conditioning so very comfortable. Francis and his team were wonderful hosts and his mum makes the most delicious food: we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there (between kayaking and biking around the area) for two days and it was truly some of the best food we ate on our two week trip. There are kayaks and bikes there for you to use, although we had our own guide who already had equipment, and so Francis recommended a trip in a tuk tuk so we went to the beach just for an hour or so, which was well worth it. I would certainly recommend staying at Palmdale Heritage resort for a few days and preferred being on dry land then spending a night on a rice barge: Lots more freedom of movement and you can instead see the world go by from the banks.…
Restored heritage traditional houses in a beautiful spot along the backwaters. Service and amenities were great, though limited to what you would expect of a guest house. Wifi was provided. Food was typical local fare, prepared fresh, and was delicious. The staff were attentive, and arranged a great short boat ride for us. The rooms were a bit dark in keeping with the aesthetic, but otherwise a great stay.
This is genuinely an excellent property with a great location on the backwaters. calm and quiet. The rooms are original wooden cabins, which the owners have brought to this location and reassembled. its spacious and airy, with an open bathroom. The property is small, with only 9/10 rooms, but has a great feel and very relaxing. The breakfast on both the days was excellent and I recommend having food here, but one has to tell Francis in advance, so that they can prepare for it. All the staff in the property were very friendly and kind, including their most well mannered Labrador.
We were overwhelmed by Palmdale Heritage homestay with its unique timber-framed 'houses', outdoor bathroom, and its tranquil riverside surroundings on a quiet canal. This homestay was an unscheduled stop on our Keralan tour with Citrus Holidays booked at very short notice and we were very pleased with it. Francis and his family offered a warm welcome and lovely Keralan food to try each night. He also organised a little boat trip and taxis to take us to see sights and shops off the beaten track. Lovely and quiet (but it was start of the season).
Stayed at Palmdale with my 2 kids after landing in Kerala from US. I was worried about 2nd one since she is only 1 year old. As soon as i reached the resort, all my worries went away and we truly had an amazing vacation . Francis ( Resort owner) is always available to ensure all the needs are met whether its food or houseboat or safety of kids. During the day time, i was able to explore paddy fields with kids and did fishing. In the evening, its very serene and calm to enjoy backwaters with boats.Resort is really clean , well maintained. We had typical kerala breakfast with amazing duck curry + kerala porotta. Hope to stay there again.
A true retreat. Set amidst paddy fields on the edge of the river, this heritage resort is peaceful and luxurious. The family are welcoming, friendly and discrete. The food was some of the best we ate in Kerala, especially the black spot river fish steamed in a banana leaf. The herb garden was exquisite, the details in all the rooms and facilities was well thought out and attractively done. Thoroughly recommend if you are looking for peace, beauty and refreshment.
Thank you, Francis Paul, for your excellent hospitality during our three night stay. What make this place so special is being located right on the water, walking by the rice fields, seeing the sunset, enjoying the meals, hearing the history of Palmdale Heritage. My husband, two daughters and I really appreciated all of your kind attention during our visit, and recommend that anyone wishing a true backwater experience stay with you.
This was our second stay on a three-week odyssey through Kerala and Tamil Nadu. At the end, we agreed that it was where we’d had the best food: morning, noon and night, lovingly prepared by the mother of the household. So it was easy to settle down and watch the varied river traffic flow by with a full stomach! It did feel remote if you weren’t able to drive. But, the area is thickly populated, and when I walked into the local village, I had many friendly conversations on the way - in spite of not knowing a word of Malayalam! All in all, a fine place, which I hope will prosper.
The staff was very friendly. Especially Mr Francis Paul. Adipoli place. Amenities are off the roof. Amazing. Traditional and comfortable at the same time .Must visit if you ever come to this locality.
