The Castle Hotel is a lovely little pub/restaurant with seven bedrooms upstairs and very welcoming staff. The room I stayed in was small, but perfect for one person (you'd struggle with two people given the size of the room and bathroom). The breakfast in the morning is wonderful, and all produce seems to be locally sourced which is a plus....

Our kids took us here for a celebratory Sunday lunch for my wife's birthday - 6 adults and a 5 year old. There is a nice, slightly quirky ambience to the place which seemed very pleasant and our 13.30 pre-booked table was ready and waiting for us. Things started going adrift when I ordered a pint to be told it...

Firstly sorry you did not enjoy your visit and we do not like to spoil anyone birthday and hate that we did not meet your expectations. Saying that I must reply to some of the points you made as they are either taken out of context or simply not true. Firstly my husband runs a great cellar and if he...

Very welcoming staff, excellent food with some unusual menu items like African babooti, local beer. Great room with quirky ensuite featuring original fireplace. Quiet pub downstairs so good nights sleep. Only marked down one star as mattress felt worn on one side so felt like sleeping on a slope but after a long day in London didn't really bother me....

Firstly thank you for your kind review, its great to get positive feedback, l will check all mattresses as they are all new and should not have a dip but thanks for pointing it out as we do endeavour to keep our rooms to a high standard. I had to be at Brands Hatch for a seminar so a colleague booked me into the Castle. The room was rustic, compact, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. I had a really good nights sleep. I ate in the restaurant downstrairs and the food was really excellent, both in the portion size and flavour. Overall, a really comfortable stay and I...

We recently stayed here for a wedding in Shoreham, the staff were absolutely lovely from the moment we arrived! We checked in much later than we should've but they staff were so nice and happy to wait for us, they then offered us a free upgrade due to our awful day! The staff have lots of banter with you and...

Stayed one night while visiting Rochester/Chatham Docks. Public areas, bar and restaurant have character and charm, and while the bedrooms are clean, they are small and with very little character. The breakfast and staff are excellent. We also ate dinner in the restaurant as we arrived late, and we had an excellent dinner. Recommend.

Thankyou for spending the time to leave such a lovely review its really great to know you enjoyed your stay with us. Because of the age of the building some rooms are larger than others, room 7 for example is huge so maybe if you are in the area again and would like to stay ring me and I'll make...

We visited this restaurant recently with friends. On arriving my husband went to the bar and ordered a drink while I looked for a table. As I approached a vacant table a woman pushed past me and grabbed a bill and a ten pence tip that had been left. There was no apology in fact I did think that maybe...

This response is for the couple on the right hand-side of the table as your friends on the left were very nice and polite. I feel I need to respond to some of the comments in this unfair review and give our version of events. Firstly, when customer arrives at the venue they are greeted and asked if they have...

I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst on business in the area and had a very pleasant time. The room was very good and comfortable and the decor most pleasant. The food and local beers were very tasty as well. I hope to stay here again soon.

What a lovely welcome. Food - well just right in my opinion. Ploughmans was the best ever (and no I am not telling you how old I am).
