What a wonderful time we had!! We used them for snowmobiling; we had a blast! The guides were awesome & very attentive! I highly recommend them! They provide all necessary clothing as them temps were quite cold that day; all you need to do is show up & be ready to have some fun!
I can't say enough about Sky High, and everyone that works there, including all of the amazingly sweet dogs! Our guide Paul was super knowledgeable, really kind and loves his dogs SO much. All dogs are treated so well, and are well loved, including the lovely retired ones that roam the property enjoying their days of leisure. The trails were beautiful, scenery stunning and dogsled instruction from Paul was thorough, which made for a fantastic day in the wilderness! We will be back for SURE, but next time, we'll book more than a half day! SO glad we chose Sky High, and only wish we had spent more time there.
First of all, this is NOT dog-sledding (where you show up, jump on a sled behind a bunch of dogs and go around a circuit for an hour or two). You will get to know your dogs (in my case - Pickles, Copper, Lobo, George and Lucy), you will shovel snow around their kennels, pick-up pooh, harness them up, and monitor their progress on the trails. At the end of an exhausting day of sledding you will return, thank them all with a warm hug, unharness them, feed them and get them back to their homes. Day 2, repeat, but with tired arms, shoulders and legs! Elaine was our host for our four days of adventure and she is truly a world-class guide, cook and dog musher who loves what she does. She also has the most infectious laugh, which we will always remember! Photos don't do the vastness of the area the justice it deserves. It is truly an immense area to explore. Joceyln and Gary did a wonderful job of making sure all the logistics were looked after - from pick-up to drop off we always felt that they were concerned with how well everyone was doing. We also spent time with Paul, one of the other guides who had some great stories and did a pretty good job of cooking! My wife and I can't say enough good things about our experience with Sky High Wilderness Ranch. That said, it's not for everyone - you'd better be ready for a full day of fun and exertion. Rent proper clothes - either from the ranch or elsewhere, so that you're fully prepared for the elements. …
People at Sky High couldn't have been any friendlier. Great location by Fish Lake. We went after the tourist season ended in October and actually had their amazing and comfortable lodge all to ourselves. Loved the giant wood fireplace. Actually a quick drive from Whitehorse, it had snowed quite a lot, but it was an easy drive for anyone with winter driving experience (even without 4 wheel drive). No cell service, but that was part of the charm, hard to truly be on vacation anymore with phones in our hands, so this was a nice break from it all. Dog-sledding was great too, so much fun and not difficult even for a beginner like me. They have rescued many otherwise doomed dogs who were beyond eager to pull me around.
An absolute amazing experience. Nothing like Huskies leading you through stunning country side. Worth every dollar. Both our driver & our instructor were great. Huskies were so happy & looked after. Only wish we did the whole day
