Detailed Reviews
I had booked a room ahead of time because i knew i would be getting in late. I drove from Edmonton to Regina in one day and had to go on early in the morning. When I booked all i was looking for was a cheap bed and shower. i got to the hotel about 7pm and had to stand outside and ring a doorbell. A fellow in a van said he had been ringing the bell for fifteen minutes. I looked up and saw a man walking toward the door. He shouted at me to step away from the the door. I was ordered to stand outside the checkin area behind the other guys car until he went through the door.. I waited out side while guy waiting ahead of me went to the sliding window. Within a minute he came storming out jumped in his car and sped off. I went to the window which he would only open about three inches. I told him I had a reservation and he asked me with a rude tone for my ID and credit card. I gave them to him and said i had already paid for the room and wanted to know why he needed my credit card. He told me he needed a three hundred deposit. I was taken aback and said that if there to be a large deposit it should be listed on the website so travelers know ahead of time. His reply was its the charge is more for people who argue. When I asked why, he told me he would talk to me after he finished with my card and said he had to close the window. I demanded my Id back and left I though i had accommodations but here i was at 8 oclock at night looking for a place to stay in a strange city. When i got home i went on line and searched reviews and found several with the same complaint. They respond with an apology and say they will work on fixing the problem. NO THEY WON'T The same problems keeps happening so you know its lip service. buyer beware

Response from General M, Guest Relations Manager at Thriftlodge by Wyndham Regina North
Responded 9 Apr 2020
Thank you for leaving us such a thorough review of your recent visit with us. What you have detailed is quite surprising and certainly not reflective of our standards in customer service. Contrary to your comments, we always use guest feedback to address anything less than favorable, as guest satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. Hopefully, you'll give us another chance to change your perceptions in the future.

Needs to be updated very badly. If a person paid $40 more they would be in a far nicer place. Too much money if they aren’t investing any of it back into the property. The outdoor check in isn’t acceptable for Canadian weather.

I don't even know how it pass the inspection. They also charge are like 117 per night , if i would had a chance I would not even pay 10 per night . totally bad hotel . stains on bedsheet are everywhere

Mini-kitchen area and bar fridge plus microwave are handy. Several lamps for lighting, rather than ceiling lamps. Good for reading in bed. Bathroom was fine (toilet and shower together with a door) and the bathroom sink was set into a large counter - handy for spreading things out and repacking. Nice room overall.

Stayed one night while driving across the country. Was pleasantly surprised with all aspects of the stay. Check in was great and informative. They allowed me to park my bike in a secure location in view of the cameras. The room was very nice and the bathroom was quite large. Great bathroom facilities.

This hotel/motel was one of the worst places I have ever stayed. The place is obviously not taken care of in any way. The unit was hot. The bedding is very dated. It has holes in the sheets and leftovers on the blankets from other guests, The paint was peeling in the bathroom, The toilet tank cover was broken, The baseboards were falling off the wall. There were rust stains on the lino. The toilet didn't fill due to low water pressure. The chairs were soiled and stained.

I had one of the upgraded rooms so it was a clean room. Door lock didn't work so staff had to open the door every time I needed to get in. It was a hassle. Very noisy street. Manager could have been more friendly and accommodating considering we are paying his bills.

Booked a cheap room after flight delays due to a storm. Paid online, but still had to make a $200 deposit AND leave my credit card number with them. Room was filthy, unvacuumed, someone’s old earplug still laying on the floor under the bed, crumbs left on the floor, several bugs crawling on the wall.
Light switch didn’t work, all electrical outlets and switches were old, barely functional and splattered with paint (very poor workmanship and little care given to any repairs).
When I left in the morning I had to go get my deposit back and asked for my credit card information back because I felt it was abnormal to have my credit card info written and stored unsecurely and the person at the desk got mad at me for not trusting them and suggested I wanted it back because I must have destroyed the room and said I had to wait while they go check my room because I must be dishonest for wanting my credit card info destroyed. He was rude and condescending.
I wouldn’t stay here again even if it was free, and I would never recommend it to anyone.
