I spent a long weekend in Montreal and I don't think i would have had the same experience anywhere else. Sir Montcalm is perfectly located to great restaurants, bars, and shopping. The rooms are exquisite. The service is generous and inviting. We truly felt like we were staying at our own home (well...a home much nicer than our own). I...

I'm just wrapping up my second stay at the Sir Montcalm and like a fine wine, it gets better with age! The Sir Montcalm is the type of place that gives you reason to return to the same city over and over again. Every big city in the world, needs a Sir Montcalm of their own. Not only is the...

A secret garden of elegance and an oasis of tranquility, this is the least to say about this B&B. Its cozy environment forces you to stay in the garden and enjoy the manor esqu enterace and loung chairs. Andrea one of the owners was our neighbor and what a neighbor he was, professional courteous and friendly, we enjoyed his company...

My partner and I booked Sir Montcalm on-line for a fun 3 night get-away in Montreal. We loved our trip and the convenient location, the great service and the delicious food in this immaculately maintained Inn. We enjoyed all the other guests and we even let them be a bad influence on us.....we were half a block from the best...

Spent a total of 11 days of my recent vacation here, and everything was perfect. Rooms are comfortable, if not a bit unorthodox in layout. Since I was by myself, the integration of bath facilities into the room was no problem. Breakfasts were delicious and varied - only one repeat - eggs benedict yum!. Staff is attentive and I feel...

As a designer I thought the place was absolutely beautiful! Sir Montcalm is extremely clean, quite comfortable & you feel right at home. The service was superb including a gourmet breakfast each morning. It is one of the top B&B in my book. A must stay. If i had to make one complaint the toilet area in room 3 was...

I could write so much but the best compliment I can give about this place is that I didn't want to leave. I literally did not want to leave! And, I can't wait to get back and stay there again. The house is beautiful and they have paid attention to every single detail. I happened to say in Room #4...

My partner and I just returned from a five night stay at SIr Montcalm. We had an excellent time and decided this guest house sets a new high bar for future B&Bs. Perfect location very close to Metro and gay scene. Wonderful breakfasts with a lot of variety. Not a single repeat in 5 days. They were very nice in...

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
