The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.

We booked hotel Visitel under booking.com. The original room was on the street side and it was a little bit noisy. After we talked to the front desk, they are very happy to switch the room for us overnight. Very nice staff, small and cozy room, fantastic location: close to metro, Greyhound station, city bike location and close to a lot of great restaurants.

Relatively old building and supplies, but can't complain too much about such a good location. Not a big fan with the bed, but it was not too bad. We enjoyed our stay.

Located a few steps from the Berri Metro station. Clean comfortable room with friendly service from the front desk staff. Double bed is on the small side and you do hear some noise from the adjoining rooms.

We stayed here three weeks ago for two nights and enjoyed spotless accommodation, comfy bed, good shower, efficient air con, tv, and reasonable WiFi. Although no breakfast provided we had use of a very well equipped kitchen and a pleasant enclosed patio.
The staff were very pleasant and efficient and provided us with maps and information about local area. Located near subway and about 20 min walk to downtown area.
Frankly I do not understand the very negative reviews for this hotel.

We visited almost all countries of the world, and I've never met such a terrible hotel. We reserved a room for two nights through "booking.com" a month before we go to Montreal. We were driving from Boston, USA in the evening, and we spent couple hours in the traffic at the border, so we came at 12 am instead of 10.30 pm. I tried to call them from the border to inform we were late, but they didn't even pick up the phone. When we came, nobody were there, no note, no keys left. Some woman opened the door, but did not let us in and threatened to call police (!) We were lucky to find another hotel nearby. When we came to "Visitel" next morning, they told us that they cancelled our entire reservation (for two nights!). The person was extremely rude, she did not feel any fault. After all they didn't want to return the money for two nights even though it were they who cancelled our reservation and left us on the street at night. I believe these people are just swindlers. Never reserve this "hotel"!

Adriana's customer service was exceptional. We booked this stay late after a bad Airbnb experience and we were relieved to check in to the Visitel. Adriana was the nicest host and was very welcoming, she organised our room to be ready early so we could check in straight away and gave us a multitude of suggestions for things to do in Montreal. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. The room was on the smaller side and was up some stairs (as others have mentioned) but that didn't bother us at all, it was a comfortable, homely feel and we had a great stay. The room was very quiet, yet in a fantastic location close to restaurants and the metro. We would stay again if in Montreal.
Thank Amy C
